  • It sucks!

  • For me the Best cover ever

  • A very nice cover, but I feel like they could have put a *little* more personality into it.

  • I don't like that guitar, sounds pretty bad for me, it kills this beautiful song.

  • <3

  • Great cover!

  • Green Day are always the best in making covers. I'm not saying their versions are better than the originals, of course.

I really like Bj's voice in this one, the way he screams "how does it feel?" :3

  • Billie Joe has got awesome voice! :)

  • It's like Rihanna would play Johnny Cash....

  • @areaP6 i'd listen to that

  • @areaP6 Did you just compare Green Day to Rihanna? ...Where's my shotgun?

  • @maalbe987 Yes I do! because it's just music, which sounds like many other music and this is because this kind of music (don't matter if you call it Rock or Pop) is just made for bring money in your pocket. Real art is not to copy other people, because they are famous - and thats why Green day aren't a good band to play Dylan! But you won't agree, anyway!

  • @areaP6 So by that logic, all covers are bad. But even Dylan had a couple covers scattered throughout his albums.

  • ya que nadie habla español dire que soy gay.

    Green day lml

  • Like a Rollingggg Stoneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thumbs up if you scream like that xD lol

  • takes a lot of nerve to cover this song

  • Sounds great, great cover, Green Day is a great band and I say that at the age of 51!!

  • @borntrippin -hugs you- grandpa is that you?

  • Like a rolling stone ...

  • Comment removed

  • i've seen both bob dylan and green day live and neither played this :(

  • Bob Dylan FTW

  • Bob Dylan is one of the best singers ever and I love this song I really respect him and cover never can be better than original, but personally I prefer this cover, cause I love Billie's voice and I'm Green day's fan. But I like Bob's songs

  • Man, 1NateGraham, I totally respect your opinion and all, and I know that it's been said thousands of times before, but... I wonder how you stumbled upon this video. I mean, if you don't like green day, and you don't like bob dylan, and you don't like the song... hm.

  • Dylan sings awful, but is that what makes him a fuckin' genius....this cover is good, but nothing as the old voice of Bob and his oldie armonic...

  • Love this cover...Dylan is amazing but sometimes his singing is a little weird

  • I love the lyrics Bob Dylan wrote. The way he sings however is the very reason I dislike his music. Green Day made me like his songwriting.... nothing more.

  • Nice !

  • @1NateGraham then don't fucking watch it. jesus, i don't get it. why would you go on a video and just post a pointless comment? i'm not a fan of justin bieber but you don't see me going to his videos and posting hate comments. grow up man.

  • @1NateGraham holy shit youre a dumbass

  • VERY GOOD COVER ¡¡¡

  • @NoLiefVlogs The lyrics made the song for me.

  • Long time Green Day fan here. Bad choice of song to cover for them IMO.

  • i love green day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Green Day fucking sucks.

  • @dagothurmehrunes arsehole

  • @dagothurmehrunes you are the few of 202 people i want to kill

  • @dagothurmehrunes then why the fuck are you looking them up and listening to them?

  • @dagothurmehrunes You're absolutely right... no one goes to their shows, no one buys their music, they haven't won awards and toured the world. It's Green Day that is so absolutely clueless about the dire straits they are in as a creative force that only a random comment about the status of their lives can bring about an attack of common sense for them. Thank you for your time voicing this.

  • Is the cover of The Rolling Stone version, is most like that version...

(Im not saying The Rolling Stone version is the original, im only say this cover is of that version)

  • I love Green Day and I love Bob Dylan...so I'm not sure why I didn't like this cover lol

  • i love this song

  • not as bad as i expected

  • This sounds like the end to a really cheesy movie.

    I love it.

  • now my second favorite cover besides the one by the stones :D

  • i love it .-. did you know that Kesha and Miley Cyrus are gonna be part of Bob Dylan's Tribute album? I am pretty sure that Miley Cyrus doesn't have any idea about who is Bob Dylan.

  • I dont get why people is so pissed about Green day doing a cover of this song? i mean come on...!

  • @wowsdeath Take it as a compliment that they love Bob Dylan enough to do a cover.

  • @wowsdeath better than the original, just sayin' ;)

  • @oXHorizonXo this doesnt even touch the original! it isnt bad but it isnt Dylan

  • Bob Dylan's voice and intensity make this song not ever get boring and what it is. This version isn't terrible compared to most covers, but it just seems to drag on

  • The band didn't sell out. Nimrod was the last REAL punk GD album, if you think about it. I'm sorry, but except for Minority and Waiting, the album Warning kinda sucked. Afterwards it was Shenanigans, a bunch of unreleased songs. Then International Superhits, all of their singles. They ran out of ideas for their original kind of songs and moved into the American Idiot type of music. Personally, i think they're amazing still. Dookie, 1039, Warning, or American Idiot.

  • This is one of the best covers I've ever heard. Makes me want to dance. Give Green Day some credit. They took on a Dylan song and didn't ruin it.

  • I like how some people flip out and curse and have a fit. Damn, calm down. Personally, they're my favorite band, I think it's better than the original and the original sucks. That's my opinion. Nothing against Bob Dylan, I mean, he's a legend. Just don't like him personally. There's no need for you to "kill someone" or curse a lot. Damn, so they appreciate Bob Dylan and covered his song? So what?

  • FUCK you guys. the fact that green day covers this song actually makes me want to kill someone

  • @TrumpetCase Anger management much?

  • @TrumpetCase I don't advocate violence... but if you're looking for someone to kick around... *points at Newt Gingrich*

  • THIS SONG IS SO LONG AND SO AWESEOME PLAYED BY OUR FAVOURITE BAND - GREEN DAY, IF U DIDN'T KNOW!

  • @AAFGreenDay 6 minutes isn't long.

    Get grammar lessons.

  • Stop discussing, everybody has the freedom to like and to dislike this.

  • Crackin cover our band do this one it's given us a new slant on classic song. Green day are the daddies!!!!

  • Above Billie's head there's Beach Boys' Surfer Girl picture. Awesome.

  • Not a green day fan, not a horrible cover though. Dylan's will always be the best, followed by The Stones.

  • american idiot killed Green Day , 21st century breakdown buried Green Day . don't get me wrong , i was one of their biggest fan ..

  • @MichaelBallack91 Dont have to be so mean. They did a amazing job and brougth back a amazing song back to young peoples eyes! Personaly, i love this lyrics and song, but i didnt understand a single word when Dylan sang it. They made me like this song even more.

  • CRAP.

  • This is actually a song only someone with an incredible voice can sing. u have to actually shout at points and keep the perfect pitch

  • Kyaaa!!!! I Loooove it!!! Better than the original!!! The perfect song... Now with the perfect band!!!

    <3

  • All right! Way to go, Billie!

  • Good cover!! Green day never makes a bad mistake musically! They have always been on top of their game!! Joey Vaughan "World Blues Attack"

  • It's not bad, it just doesn't work.

  • There are songs nobody should ever cover - it's one of them.

  • @MrPhobs Too bad it has already been covered by around 20 bands.

  • Grandi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • dylans great. but shit this was better

  • Comment removed

  • For me the 1968 Jimi Hendrix version is easily the best.

  • Well the John Mellencamp live version is superior to this without the help of a studio and certainly the Jimi Hendrix live at Monterrey version buries it. That said, Billy's voice isn't a bad voice. It's just the voice of a dolt. Of course that resonates very well with many of you , making it the best version for YOU.

  • shut the fuck up !

You can't say that this version is better than Dylan's.

    Losers, it's called RESPECT.

  • @BarushkaLP its not disrespectful to say a cover is better than the original, look at mad world; tears for fears's version was a disgrace to music, but gary jules managed to make it one of the greatest songs ever. or all along the watchtower-not only does every human being on the face of the earth think jimi's version was better, so do jimi and bob dylan

  • I really like Green day, but nothing can compare to Dylan ! Such a genius

  • At least 50% better than I was expecting.

  • God, Billie sings the shit out of this song! Long time Dylan fan (old guy) says this is one hell of a cover. Hendrix' version is a classic in itself, but this is the best of all the rest. (Articolo31's Italian version is also great.) Miss seeing American Idiot on Broadway - :-(

  • Nobody sings Dylan like Dylan.

But, I will say, that I was surprised to find this cover to be better than any other cover of the song.

  • i like jimi hendrix's cover better

  • This is horrible.

  • awesome cover! =)))

but still.... nothing beats the original... =)))

    love greenday!

    love dylan!

    =))))

  • O hell no. Dont mess with the classics.

  • O hell no. Dont mess with the classics.

  • Omg.. green day is the best cover-makers EVEEER!!

  • I'm a Green Day fan and even I have to say that I'm disappointed in this cover. Trying to cover a folk rock song in a pop punk manner just doesn't work.

  • oh no...

  • Maaaaaaan! What did Dylan do these guys for them to destroy his song in this way. Completely hideous. Billie's valley boy voice doesn't suit this song at all. Dylan's voice is the true sound of rock n roll. FUCK GREEN DAY!

  • @eminemdisstopia shut up, fucker!

  • @xXMinkeStaukenXx u mad, bro?

  • @eminemdisstopia Billie isn't from The Valley, he's from The Bay. Let's keep our California geography in mind.

  • This song suits Billie's voice perfectly. Amazing job. Mr Armstrong - again.

  • Like a rolling stone is hands down the greatest song ever....it's up there with happy birthday, twinkle twinkle little star, and the alphabet song as a classic that has such a universal message and power that shines through the original and the covers...Bob dylan really outdid himself when he wrote this masterpiece classic...if this song doesn't move you, you dont exist....

  • This makes me sick to my stomach.

    What a travesty.

  • this song should have never been touched

  • I absolutely hate Green Days music, but I'm willing to hold my hands up and admit this is a good cover

  • Dylan, Stones, Hendrix, Green Day..... All the versions are fcking incredible!!! the soul and spirit of the song its AMAZING! Cheers for all of them!

  • they sound better tyhan the stones doing this song

  • Great! This song was absolutly great when I first heard it when Dylan first recorded it, and Green Day has done another fabulous piece of work upgrading a masterpiece in their own style, just like they did with John Lennon's "Working Class Hero" Unsensored.

  • Wow gotta admit I didn't except this to be good but it's fucking amzing.

  • The music will just die someday if someone doesn't keep it alive. Sometimes a cover is successful enough that it keeps the original alive enough - the interest will spark back far enough to the original.

  • HOW DOES IT FEEL!! :D ♪♫ it feels awesome! this cover is fucking amazing, I love both Green Day and Dylan!!

  • and 178 dislikes.............178 dylan fans before he went electric no doubt.

  • it has to be said the boy can fuckin sing, and hes one of the few.......the very few who can actually cover a dylan song.fucking great effort green day.

  • ya im a huge greenday fan, i hate gylan but this is awsome

  • This is actually sort of kind of phenomenal.

I just found out this cover existed and was curious to how it sounded...I was blown away.

I'm the kind of person who usually hates covers. A cover song has to be really really good for me to like it, especially if it's something like Dylan.

But Green Day really hit the nail on the head here. They don't change it at all, they just update the genre to today's standards. The song's message matches Green Day's overall message; they are a perfect match.

  • @glane88 green day's message? ''lets keep the punk band image but make shitty pop tunes instead and make money and still try to look like hardcore mofos while we sell out''

  • @psych0p4t3 Some people never learn. If they were sellouts, they wouldn't care about the fans. And they care a fucking LOT about the fans. And since when was punk rock, pop? They are hardcore motherfuckers. Shut up and enjoy the music

  • @frankwright3 A sellout is someone or a band who makes a certain kind of music because they know they can make a billion dollars off it. I think Green Day makes the music they want to make, therefore, I would not consider them sellouts. I think they believe in the music they release. All these Green Day fans sound just like the Metallica fans who say the same thing. Grow up. These bands did. And there music changed because of it. People change, musical tastes change. It's just the way it is.

  • @metalupyourthrash AMEN!!

  • @metalupyourthrash That is the most intelligent comment I've seen in a long time on YouTube. Thank you for this.

  • @psych0p4t3 Some people never learn. If they were sellouts, they wouldn't care about the fans. And they care a fucking LOT about the fans. And since when was punk rock, pop? They are hardcore motherfuckers. Shut up and enjoy the music

  • @frankwright3 yeah, because 21 guns is so fucking punk and hardcore, and being on a major label where marketing eats you is caring about the fans and the quality of music, not.

  • nice one!

  • Good Job!

  • nothing will ever live up to Bob's version not even Hendrix's cover and every rock cover sounds to much like they want to show to much respect to give some change to the song or it just sounds like a repeated Hendrix cover but this song has been covered so many time that the legend still matters because of all of them. Weather I like this cover or this band they have some major balls to cover a classic Bob song and I give them props for that.

  • Billie´s voice is great! I think this cover is better than bob dylan´s original! You can hate me for my opinion, but it sounds clearer and tré cool´s drumming is awesome!!!

  • @1990StJimmy Better than the original??? Ha! Not hardly...

  • @1990StJimmy maybe bob dylan version.... but the rolling stones version is better ;)

  • @1990StJimmy Bob Dylan's style was exactly not to sing clear xD So if you like to hear it clearly, this is just for you ^______^

Remember that the original is so old that clarity would be considered a miracle :p

  • Comment removed

  • @1990StJimmy wow he was complementing you on your opinion and you were a dick to him

  • @1990StJimmy Been a Bob Dylan from the time i first heard him tn the 60;s . I have to give it to Billie Joe , that was GREAT GREAT GREAT, but he can do anything, WTG

  • @1990StJimmy Billy's voice firstly, is not great. Is it better than Bob Dylan's? Yes. In reality, what this cover lacks is the power and emphasis each and every single word carried in the original version. The most moving songs are the ones thar are have been sung and written by the same person.

  • @1990StJimmy

you're wrong. First, dylan doesn't use auto tune. Second, it might be easiest for you to listen to this cause you're used to clinical, clean sounds of today.

Still, this cover is not so bad. But not better than the original

  • @1990StJimmy i wouldnt quite go that far, but i think its better than hendrix's and the stones' versions

  • This song seems longer than Jesus of Suburbia. It's still a great cover though.

  • This is... no... just no...

  • @IC3dMelee you think this sucks then check out their cover of elvis's "that's all right" or their cover of the who's "a quick one". i like all of them though, n i think this one is the best of the three covers, but i know there's better covers of this out there

  • great!!

  • Yes, the best cover it's by Jimi Hendrix,

  • Love the cover, Billie's voice is great.

  • love to see bands keeping this alive. cheers green day

  • @TomThumbsBlues1965 EXACTLY! I don't get why people waste their time arguing about which cover is better, or "the original is best", etc. We just need to appreciate that they're paying homage to a great artist and exposing his songs to the younger generation.

  • Best cover ever!!!!!

  • @sugarmagnolia787 no....the best cover it's by Jimi Hendrix

  • smh 2 haters

  • I dont think the organ is well used in this cover.

  • punk rock is 50% music, 10% fashion and 40% doing kids' stuffs!.. it's not how fast or slow the songs are. it's about the quality and the attitude of the song. that's what punk rock is. they did slow ones but still they kicked ass! it's not just by one song you judge them, it's the whole album. it's still punk! :))

  • viva bob dylan and green day!!!

  • how could you hate this. if you did your obviously arent a dylan fan

  • ha...haters....when we're in the 1960's and Bob Dylan cover some old songs....people will also hate him.....people are such hypocrites...

  • @greendayrocksmuch He mostly arranged traditional songs though, it's not the same.

  • I like green day but this doesn't sound very good

  • fucking jizzed when i found out green day dida dylan cover

  • AWSUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great Cover! :-)

  • sad green day sold out.. they were an awesome which band made good music and did nt give a shit about what people thought about them

  • @99tuberats93 no one sold out

  • @99tuberats93 1. as skakky said: no one sold out and 2. they still don't give a shit what people think about them ;)

  • @mjandicehockey4ever fans always say that.. even i am.. but compare the old greenday to the new one.. they ve changed a lot.. they ve started creating an image on stage.. if someone says greenday, they l be reminded of guys with make up in a black uniforms with a red tie on stage..lol the music they make has also become slower and is'nt raw anymore and they made american idiot a broadway musical.. anyway this is my opinion..

  • @99tuberats93 yeah sure they changed, but that's just normal after so many years ;) and yes, they made some reaaaally slow songs, but there are still some faster ones and i think it's really a pity that the most just know the slow songs like 21 guns or blvd of broken dreams

the thing with the musical....well, ....i think it's brave that they did that xD ...i mean...no other punk band did that before xD ...ok....you can call that "the most punk thing ever" or "not punk anymore"....idk....xD
