This is from the Space within Us Tour, in Anaheim, California....What a sound! Just look at the faces and the mood of the people at the concert! Lucky bastards!! Phenomenal!
No one can touch the Beatles or Paul..not even one of my other all time favorite rock bands, Led Zeppelin..they come in at a close second. ;) and to those who will question my comment and say that they're 2 different bands, don't bother..i'm a professional musician and sound engineer myself and know that already..
The Stones got their first BIG hit, "I Wanna Be Your Man" from, and written by, THE BEATLES. Every group has its beginnings from somewhere, influenced by someone or some group. However, specific to the Stones, if there was no Lennon/McCartney, there would be no Jaggar and Keith, etc., atleast not as we know them today (because of The Beatles)!
I saw him at the Jobing.com arena on march 28, 2010. My first concert and the best. He played for 4 hours straight and came back with encores TWICE. Also: The lead guitarist should be playing an Epiphone Casino, I have it and the P-90 pickups make it a true beatles guitar! :)
@DrRoberts66 Why would you say that the Rolling Stones aren't in the same league as the Beatles. I don't mind the Beatles, but I would prefer listening to the Rolling Stones. If you haven't already.. check out the Rolling Stones album Between the Buttons. That is the best Rolling Stones album. It's ashame they don't play any songs from that album on the radio.
@dggystyle69 Why did I say it? Because it's true! I've listened to the Stones since their first record releases in the 60s. I bought the Stones, the Who, the Kinks, the Beach Boys and, of course, the Beatles back in those halcyon days. Between the Buttons is a good album but my personal favourite remains Beggars Banquet. None of the Stones' albums though compare with the Beatles' masterpieces - Rubber Soul, Revolver, Pepper, the White Album and Abbey Road.
@DrRoberts66- True about the Stones. They have been billed as the World's Greatest Rock and Roll Band, but they never used that line while the Beatles were still together.

I remember when I was 8 years old and I asked "Grandma....what is better in God's eyes, an apple or a peach?" She looked at me and laughed saying, "Boy...there is no need to compare them because they are both special gifts from God to enjoy. You can have them both. No need to choose one over the other.." Grandma knew something...and that's how I feel about music other than The Beatles...even though THE BEATLES MUSIC WILL LIVE & REIN FOREVER AND EVER! amen!
Paul McCartney stood up for the truth, and we must do the same. Without the truth, there can be no real morality, justice, equality, success, freedom, love, security, peace, spirituality or even survival. Go to TRUTHCONTEST(dot)com, then open The Present and read what it says to learn the truth of life.

@busteroo7 Hi Mr. busteroo7! If my comment offended you, please forgive me. I never said that my band was better than Paul's one, the thing is that those guys are not at the level (Paul's level, of course). I know that Paul McCartney is a living legend and much more.
P.s.: What's the problem with my nickname and where you saw it before?
42 years after the demise of this group and beatlemania is stronger than ever. we'll never see the likes of the fab 4 again so enjoy it while ringo and paul are still performing.
@midatlanticcycle They may die, the music wont. And I believe strongly as a Liverpool lad that there is still a flickering light of this type of music from similar types of people. Just wait, the music of today WILL DIE.
Regarding the Beatles vs The Stones debate. Quality beats quantity anyday of the week. The Stone may have been together for 50 years but in that time have they written as many good songs as the Beatles did in 7 years? Answer..........No.
wasteful dan ...dude the rolling stones are the best rock an roll band ever..paul is lame compared to the stones...paul is great as all the beatles were but......the stones have 50 years ,,(wow) together..their catalouge is amazing

Paul McCartney is an ASS.... His OVERSIZED Ego broke up the Beatles - plain,,,( but not so simple) IE: The Rolling Stones kept thier ego's in check and hence; have been together 40+++ years..... That's just the way it is....... W'Dan
@Scavenger1994 Why does it (always) have to be =one= or the =other= on YouTube... on any Internet "forum"... in politics... in our cult-ure? Because we =believe= it does. There's no other reason. (Actually, there's no "reason" at all.)
@Scavenger1994 I am definately a Beatles, Paul, George, and Ringo fan. But Iam a Stones fan also. The Stones have put out a very impressive song catalog over the years. They both deserve cudos for being MEGA bands!
@Scavenger1994 Well said. In fact when you consider that the Beatles were only recording from the end of 1962 until January 1970 it makes their catalogue of songs almost unbelievable. They were musical giants who will ultimately rank alongside Beethoven and Bach. In some ways it is almost unfair to compare the Rolling Stones to them. A good band but, to be honest, not in the same league as the Beatles
@Sazandar Your comparisons are ludicrous. Mozart=McCartney; Lennon=Beethoven would be more appropriate - although no one can be compared with Beethoven. The Stones were a very good blues band (an average rock band) but they were never innovators. Beethoven was the most innovative musician in history. The Eroica redefined and shaped Western music for the entire 19th Century. Try listening to music before making inane comments in future
@DrRoberts66 And the Stones put out most of their best music in a short four year period. The Beatles were unquestionably more influential, but in terms of actual talent and quality its comparable.
@JaysGOP Everything is 'comparable' - that doesn't mean to say it is of equal merit. The Stones were a good band but they were not innovators and 'in terms of actual talent and quality' their music, as I've said before, is 'not in the same league as the Beatles'. The Beatles' true competitors in the 60s were the Beach Boys and Dylan.
Oh really? The Last Time, Satisfaction, GOMCloud, Astearsgoby, 19th nervous breakdown, paintitblack, motherslittlehelper, ladyjane, haveyouseenyourmother, Ruby Tuesday, Let'sspendthenighttogether, We Loveyou, Dandelion, She's a Rainbow, Under my Thumb, 2000 Light Years, OUt of TIme, SympathyfortheDevil, StreetFightingMan, Gimme Shelter, YCAGWhatyouwant, Moonlite Mile, Brown Sugar, WIld Horses, Knockin', Bitch, SIster Morphine
And that's only counting the singles. Not the albums
Hey you should have at least one hair on one of your balls before you spout some shit! The Stones are the greatest rock band. Sure. The best. Classic songs forever!!! The Beatles............well changed everything. And try not to say to much more. It ain't gone a help ya much if you then need to be told why they rule supreme above all else.
I wasn't "spouting shit" I was disproving his Scavenger1994's ridiculous assumption that the Beatles had "a lot more good songs" than the rolling stones in forty.
@degree7 Let's let Billboards book of records be the Judge. Thru 1972 the Stones had 20 top 40 hits. 6 of them went to #1. However during that same time the Beatles had 47 top 40 hits. 20 of them went to #1.
Popularity does not equal quality. I'm not talking about what chart position they were on the billboard, because in my opinion, just about every Stones song from the 60s and 70s was quality enough to be a single.
@degree7 Music is all about taste. However the general public preferred the Beatles by a large margin. Did the Stones record quality music? Of course. Did the Beatles? of course. However what the Beatles changed music forever and became the greatest band of all time. The records they set as a group will never be equaled. Enjoy the Stones. Just don't compare them to the Beatles. Their in another league.
You're selling the Stones short here, they changed rock n roll just as much as the Beatles did. Their debut album paved the way for all the dirty, nasty, nitty gritty sex-based, and (most importantly) HEAVY rock n roll sound. They were the first to bring it mainstream success and that is important. Rock wouldn't sound the same today if it wasn't for the Stones.
So yes, they can be compared, because no other band is even able to measure up to The Beatle's legacy.
@degree7 Yes I can agree with you on that. I love the Stones. They did pave the way to a more heavy sound. I also love the Beatles and respect that they change music forever.
I'd say that the only artist who may beat out the Beatles at innovation and quality is Dylan himself. After that, it's a close run between the Stones and the Kinks for third and fourth place.

They both deserve cudos for being MEGA bands!
blanchardrose 6 months ago
@Scavenger1994 Well said. In fact when you consider that the Beatles were only recording from the end of 1962 until January 1970 it makes their catalogue of songs almost unbelievable. They were musical giants who will ultimately rank alongside Beethoven and Bach. In some ways it is almost unfair to compare the Rolling Stones to them. A good band but, to be honest, not in the same league as the Beatles

@DrRoberts66 Little Richard = Bach, The Beatles = Mozart, The Rolling Stones = Beethoven
Sazandar 5 months ago
@Sazandar Your comparisons are ludicrous. Mozart=McCartney; Lennon=Beethoven would be more appropriate - although no one can be compared with Beethoven. The Stones were a very good blues band (an average rock band) but they were never innovators. Beethoven was the most innovative musician in history. The Eroica redefined and shaped Western music for the entire 19th Century. Try listening to music before making inane comments in future

Awesome packaging from EMI if I may say... Imagine taking most continents by storm and earning decades after their music was released.
Amazing!

@greennin LOL...yeah - at least 10 to one judging by the sales figures!

@DrRoberts66 And the Stones put out most of their best music in a short four year period. The Beatles were unquestionably more influential, but in terms of actual talent and quality its comparable.
JaysGOP 2 months ago
@JaysGOP Everything is 'comparable' - that doesn't mean to say it is of equal merit. The Stones were a good band but they were not innovators and 'in terms of actual talent and quality' their music, as I've said before, is 'not in the same league as the Beatles'. The Beatles' true competitors in the 60s were the Beach Boys and Dylan.

@Scavenger1994
That's ridiculous, the Rolling stones had just as many great songs by 1971 as the Beatles did.

20 of them went to #1.
sonnstarr 2 weeks ago
@sonnstarr
Popularity does not equal quality. I'm not talking about what chart position they were on the billboard, because in my opinion, just about every Stones song from the 60s and 70s was quality enough to be a single.
degree7 2 weeks ago
@degree7 Music is all about taste. However the general public preferred the Beatles by a large margin. Did the Stones record quality music? Of course. Did the Beatles? of course. However what the Beatles changed music forever and became the greatest band of all time. The records they set as a group will never be equaled. Enjoy the Stones. Just don't compare them to the Beatles. Their in another league.

@sonnstarr

I also love the Beatles and respect that they change music forever.
sonnstarr 1 week ago
@sonnstarr
I'd say that the only artist who may beat out the Beatles at innovation and quality is Dylan himself. After that, it's a close run between the Stones and the Kinks for third and fourth place.
