When i was crying, one of my (many) cats came to me because it knew i was sad and laid down next to me, and it helped, wont go into details but she was doing that sound when the cat think something is feeling good.
@blueeyewarrior180 He loves the interaction and challenge. A few days ago I was eating dinner an out of the corner of my eye I saw him doing most of these tricks on his own trying to get my attention ... his way of begging for food ... so yea I'd say he doesn't mind doing tricks at all.
@Balpy67 Most the time animals love tricks because they see it as doing it for there master. In its eyes your like god and i guess it just wants to be noticed by you to please you. Such a remarkably smart cat. Hand signals instead of words? You gotta tell me how you managed this.
@DyaSlayer Simple. You reward the cat when he does what you want. Treats work great. The smarter the cat, the faster the lesson. Cats in my experience are atheists. They don't think you're a God, just a friendly assistant.
@drinksmokelie I was asking because my family has decided to get a Bengal and one of us is very particular about keeping it indoors because she doesn't want it to get stolen, so if you don't mind i wanna ask another question or two? Is it possible to persuade a bengal to stay indoors or only stay in the garden? Again this would very much help me. Thank you for reading this.
Clickers aren't bad tools to have. And how does this prove you didn't use one aynway? The clicker is just a sound cue for training a specific moment when a behavior is executed. You say "good boy" and that's the same.
you shoud note however that cats and other animal dont understand the difrence between words, they mainly react to yuor voice so if you talk fast, slow etc so use that insted of words
Boo the cat sez, "Why yuh mek me do theez stoopid trickz? I haz pan-dimenshnal intelligenz, no need to demunstrate dat I haz brane wit stoopid trickz"
Nice vid! Wish my cat Flame could do that! Hey, you know, you've just encouraged me to teach my cat stuff like that! Are ginger cats easy to train? Thanks.
i had a siamese sumpnruther that was cross-eyed. he knew every trick in the book. lay down, fetch, roll over, kill the neighbor's yippy dog,(that one got me in trouble) he would come when i called him. but i had to move to fla. and left him with my mom and he disappeared. shame.
@Balpy67@1Serval The clicker is simply a better way of associating the reward to the specific behaviour you want to encourage. You do the same by saying "good boy" but the clicker is more effective (once the animal associates the sound with being rewarded) because it's a novel stimulus and it's easier to mark only the specific behaviour. It's less confusing for the animals, hence dolphin trainers do exactly the same using whistles.
@overdosed10 A Clicker is a training tool for Cats and Dogs. I guess you click it as a cue to let them know they did the correct thing ... I say GA BOUYYYY instead LOL
i have 2 abyssinian sisters, aged 10 now, both spayed females, one is amazing and can 'sit' beg' and lie down. also if you point ot tap anything she'll get on it. i HAVE to reward her after every trick with chicken and literally show it to her in my hand or she refuses. she also knows, 'get out ' and 'get down' ..... the other sister is 'normal' and no where near as extrovert. i've heard bengals are super easy to train and very dog like. lovely handsome cat. may he live long and healthy x
@AndreyaPolo Yeah, my kitty won't do anything either unless he sees the bag of treats first. Well, he'll come, or go in his carrier or whatever when I tell him, but he won't do "tricks" unless there's munchies involved.
Awesome tricks! Boo is beautiful and smart. My Bengals (Tigger and Akira) will stand up on their hind legs for treats but don't have this kind of repertoir ... yet?.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
i know i'm gonna get hate for this comment, but whatever. i dont understand why people feel the need to 'train' their pets to do tricks. pets are companions and friends, not for your pure amusement. this is why the only thing i hate more than dogs are dog people.
@sydandtaytum This has been addressed earlier but in short - training is a recognised form of enrichment, just as good as toys (novel items), food based enrichment etc. Animals enjoy training because it's mental stimulation." squirrelOFC
Behavioral/social enrichment involves training and structured play. If you’ve ever played with your pet or trained your pet in any way then you’ve been using this enrichment technique already.
@sydandtaytum I wouldn't hate you for leaving this comment. But animals like doing tricks! It's mentally enriching for them :) If they really didn't want to do it I don't think they would. It's especially nice when people train for praise, not treats.
What stinks is when people zap their dogs when they do things wrong. That's abuse, and wrong.
@sydandtaytum It's not for amusement. Pet animals - dogs, cats, horses, small mammals - need some form of mental stimulation, like we do. Teaching an animal to do tricks satisfies this demand and it gives pet and owner a way to good way to establish a relationship and respect. Many animals (especially dogs) enjoy it.
@sydandtaytum also, because (for my dogs atleast) they know they are doing something smart when they do what u tell them to, because thats what theyve been taught...if that makes sence
@sydandtaytum dogs and cats are NOT people, the brain of a cat or dog is entirely different. In the wild, dogs are trained by the leader of the pack, the dogs objective is to please the leader, and thus, they will perform tasks that they think are pleasing. This gives the dog mental stimulation and a great deal of satisfaction. I won't hate you for your comment, but, I will say you're quite ignorant. An untrained dog is a really unhappy one, too. Bengals like this one need mental stimulation 2.
@ramzevans u back ur argument for training bengals with facts about dogs? look, i just plainly hate dogs. they are the most obnoxious animal/pet to me. their constant need for attention, the licking, the slobber, the jumping on strangers for no reason, the barking at inanimate objects for no reason. i find it all completely dumb. obviously all the 'mental stimulation' isn't helping enough/at all. i've yet to meet a 'smart' dog- one who can tell that i don't like it & therefore leaves me alone.
@sydandtaytum well you're obviously stupid for basing your assumption of intelligence on whether a non-human can pick up on sophisticated human body-language such as "back off" or "I don't like you". Read my other comment below that addresses the rather bitchy other comment you thought I would find interesting, or care about. I find it truly bizarre that someone who dislikes pets as much as you would care to watch a video such as this and THEN if that wasn't enough, to also leave a comment.
@ramzevans and btw, my hatred of dogs does not make me ignorant. i can tell by the comment tho, that you're probably a dog owner that has entire conversations about your dogs. i can despise those conversations with people like you, and that doesn't make me ignorant either.
@sydandtaytum I NEVER said hatred of dogs made you ignorant. Nor did I say I'm a fan of dogs. I said that the fact you think humans training animals (that have pack mentalities) is only for the owner's benefit - i.e. the human satisfaction at being able to say "sit" and the dog obeying is merely to satisfy the human was ignorant. It provides the dog or bengal cat with the stimulation it needs, and any good owner is obliged to train their pet for this reason alone.
@sydandtaytum and i don't own a dog or a cat, I'm an evolutionary bioligist, I recognise the differences between humans and other species for a living.
A truly exquisite specimen of a cat. You're so lucky to have such a beautiful and clever animal, and he is lucky to have an owner who clearly loves him very much. :)
@va1903wb because ots ancestores are from a wild "cat" and a domestic cat.... thus the pattern my cat is kinda like that but shes white and light light brown hard to notice at first glance but if you look close.. you'll see its stripes...
