  • did you loos any power whit the baffel ?check mine on my chanel whit no baffel

  • beatifull, cool. vette, engine is runing strong, with nice sound, just keep this car up and you is ready for rock and roll !

  • Have you had any problems with the block? I'm looking to build me a small block 427 with a motown block and I have been reading all over the net that Motown blocks are no good.

  • @sukajoe79 I haven't had any problems, but I also haven't put too many miles on the car since I finished the motor.

  • I think you forgot to mention cammed...

  • thats a hardcore looking vett

  • haha i have goodyear eagle gt's on my 2007 import. good tires!

  • My dad has a 1969 Corvette with a 1970 (i think) LT1 Small Block engine he built himself. Mako Shark blue and white colours with side pipes........ I cannot wait to drive that baby

  • I thought the rule of thumb was anything under 351 cui is a smallblock?

It sounds great none the less! You must be one proud owner.

One last thing. Sticking the recorder right op to the exhaust doesnt make it sound better.

  • @BikerRussell Cubic Inches isn't the determining factor between big and small blocks. They are actually two completely different block castings and the bore and stroke determine the displacement.

  • haha sounds like theres a tin can stuck in the pipe haha

  • @BikerRussell A small block is a real "V" block, because the block stops at the bottom of the crank pulley. A big block is considered a "Y" block, because the block continues past the crank pulley, thus making a "Y" shape. that's the difference.

  • @corvettels9 Is this the clear definition?

I can see why the big blog is associated with more cubic inches. The crankshaft could possibly be situated further and further down in the lower piece of the block allowing a longer stroke. Once the possibility of a greater stroke is present, the bore could be increased to accomodate the stroke. this would be apposed to the smallblock which does'nt allow such a possibly long stroke.

    Am I completely off?

  • @BikerRussell No, sounds about right.

  • Nice car, nice Corvette, nice paint and nice sound.... it's awesome!!

  • Lightin McQueen!! :)

  • sounds awesome man! i have a 74 with the hooker pipes and a 327 out of a 66 with a four speed and the sound coming out of those pipes can't be beat! btw for some of the comments about the 427 sbc g.m never build them other than the new L.S 427 for the Z06, but like dpduval said plenty of times check out world products and you will find them in there!

  • Is a 427 really still a small block?

  • @1974Alfa5Spd It can be. This is a World Products block not a standard Chevrolet block. Small block configuration with big block cubic inches.

  • @1974Alfa5Spd You can actually get a 454 small block but they're pretty expensive. Ive seen a 454 get CNC milled out of a solid aluminum block. 600+ hp out of a N/A small block is pretty badass.

  • sounds like the hot for teacher song by van halen

  • your lucky! thats is one very very nice car I LOVE it!!!

  • Nice, bet that sucker gets it!

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..... in around 6 months my Fiero will sound, and perform, just like that xD

  • a nice healthy sbc

  • not a fan of the paint job but I love the sound. Can't wait to get mine in this good of condition

  • @curtisjb1983 Paint will be complete once all the mechanical stuff is finalized. No use painting until all the dirty work is done.

  • why american cars don't like the ozone layer?

  • what was a beautiful car at one time i'm sure... ruined... front valance, hood, side pipes, side vent grilles, get rid of them all.

  • sounds the bollox to me! LUV IT

  • Small block 427? Is it a 400 bored and stroked?

  • the idle is so sexy!

  • @posseidon3 yes it is.. its a motown block.

  • Hot for teachers!! Nice!

  • sex with wife? drive corvette? sex with wife? drive corvette? sex with....drive corvette, see ya.....!!!!

  • LMFAO

    I fucking LOVE muscle cars.......

  • @01po01po sex with wife in corvette? wait nvm wouldn't want to stain that beautiful interior! bye wife!

  • that was better than porn, why can't a woman sound like that when she climaxs?

  • haha!

  • Maybe you arnt doing it right!!!

  • 427 Twin Turbo Small Block Chevy by Nelson Racing Engines

  • Comment removed

  • what are the spec on that cam i love it

  • My '70 built big block vette has the same rumpity rump sound except its rear exhaust -- 232/242 duration @.050" and .575/.595 lift on 112 LSA .

  • pure sex better then it

  • THIS Is Pure Sex,, :-)

  • 427SBC? What's it based on?

  • Recon you can get a 454 small block too, motown world pour their own blocks

  • ive got the same thing on my 72 vette w/ the 350. mine are the black powdercoated ones tho.

  • You can bore and stroke a 350 to 427!

  • You got a thumbs down for some reason, even though you're correct. I know of an engine builder who strokes 350's to a 408, even comes with a warranty.

You'd need some heavy block machining and clearancing to fit a crank that large, and some pretty long rods to overcome the piston side-load due to the sharp stroke angles, but it's possible, and has been done, and proven to work.

I wonder why people can't comprehend that. Oh well.

  • there ARE crate engines... dono why you got a thumbs down. If people don't believe it, they can google it. Look up Proformance 427 small block chevy. There is the proof... no more thumbs down.

  • you guys are retarded. bbc and sbc have nothing to do with the ci...

they have 427 small blocks(ls7) and have 400 ci big blocks lol

  • I like these retards that can't figure out that you can bore and stroke a small block to a 427 ! sounds good man

  • 427 is a big block

  • isn't a 427 a big block?

  • You're all set for the next Shriner's parade.

  • You're all set for the next Shriner's parade....

I love that comment...made me laugh.

  • nice sound !!!!!!!

  • sorry ment to say 72

  • the 1977 model is the best

  • Dont forget the april fools punch line!!!!

  • Nice in 3 years i´d like to buy one of them

  • shesabute where in the hell did you 125 horse power from you dumbass

  • John, no offence, but maybe Shesabute has owned a World Products engine before. I bought a 540 Merlin 600hp crate engine from World Products and I'd have to give some credit to Shesabutes' comment. Piece of junk. I threw it away after rebuilding it twice and a grand total of 6,000 street miles. Bill Mitchell is a criminal. I hope this recession has put him out of business.

  • I love the real lopey exhaust sound! Gorgeous car as well. :)

  • sounds good apparently someone never heard of a 400ci small block being bored out i have the same ci motor in my 3rd gen. there some sick and torqy motors. nice set up sounds sick peace

  • its NOT just a 400 bored or stroked, read the owners comments over the past year. its an AFTERMARKET block, his is by WORLD, Dart makes em too (Im building a 454 SMALL BLOCK for my 77 vette...4.25 bore, 4.25 stroke in a tall deck DART block)

cubic inches have NOTHIN to do with big or small block, BB or SB refers to the outside dimensions of the thing, not displacment.

read up before commenting on crap... BTW, TO THE OWNER, sounds sweet, im lovin it

  • i red the discription b4 i commented i know it was a after market block you can also take a 400sbc mill a decking plate to make the deck hight taller and bore it to a 4.125 with a 4.25 stroke and you have tada a 427ci sbc i know the diff from a sb and bb. i guess b/c you assume iam 22 iam in to the import thing thank agen and cheack out my vid of my sbc 427ci in my 84 f-body

  • 427 SBC??

    i think not.

    427 BBC

  • Look it up, its a custom block made by World Products... That is not CLOSE to GM factory engine. Listen to it :P

  • ohh. i see. i didnt read the description.

i know Chevrolet made a 427 BB stock in a corvette so yeah i thougt it was a typo.

    my bad.

  • been doing a lot of research on that motor, just wondering if the enjoyment = the cost? I have a 1987 gta it would fit in rather nice Also is the trans and rear seem to be hanging in there?

  • Good lord, what cam you running?

  • Only at idle... revving it sounds like a Suzki GS850...

  • rock on dude!!!

  • looking to buy a classic muscle car, 60-72 any suggestions?

  • That's a loaded question. I'd start with a General Motors product, but others would disagree.

  • omg i got a instant wood. Wat a amazing sound

  • Aiiiai!

  • ooooo la la!!!!

  • mmmmmh...

  • WOW!

  • Wow thats a pretty agressive cam.... how many horse is that pony puttin out? and do u have any problems with the rigidity of the body since its a soft top?

  • I haven't had it on the dyno, but it should be around 525-550. These cars always had some ridgidity issues, but I haven't seen anything worse with the high HP.

  • My Grandpa grilled his Ball Park frank on side pipes just like these. Grandma said it did'nt matter, She prefers grill marks on her Weiners..

  • the nicest idle ever

  • damn sounds mean....

  • longest message incoming. It sounds good!

  • Did you have to cut the block?

  • my dad had a 72 vette with side pipes, and as long as you put your foot way out the door, usually u can avoid the pipes

  • lol.. my dad said the same about a '68 he had. Lot's of burns on the back of his leg! But totally worth it.

  • bippity bippity bippity bippity... hehehehehe.

  • That is a truly beautiful looking and sounding car.

    But........

How big is the risk of buring your legs getting in and out of the car with those pipes being so close to the doors?

    I'm just curious.

  • There is definitely a risk. You get used to moving around the pipes, but I definitely remind every passanger because it only takes a second to leave a nasty burn.

  • no pain-no gain?

  • Did you buy a crate engine or build it yourself from the 427 block. I've done both in my 70 Vette, but with World Products Merlin line of 540 big blocks. Check out my vids. I have pictures of my car with red paint and a primer L88 hood - looks a lot like yours. Is that a cast iron block or aluminum?

  • I had the engine built for me by a race shop. I had many of the parts from my previous 406 and just decided to upgrade to the motown. I stayed with cast due to the cost of aluminum. I would have liked the weight savings though...

  • Very cool. My 600hp aluminum crate engine from Bill Mitchell Hardcore Racing (aka World Products) fell apart after 3,000 miles and they refused to warrantee it. The parts were good, but the assembly must have been done by a summer student or something. I had pistons actually contacting the crankshaft and a million other similar problems. I had a real engine shop do the rebuild and what a huge difference in power, performance and sound!

  • LMFAO... from 28 seconds to 42 seconds it sounds like a bunch of really fat people Tap dances all at the same time up on a big wooden stage just listen closely and then picture that image in your head and it matches perfectly lol

  • I think this sound is the intro to "Hot for Teacher" by VanHalen......LOL...

  • hahaha

  • sounds real good, and love the stroke, 427 baby! I have a small block 408 myself. I love em...! boat loads of torque and head turning anywhere ya go!

  • Very nice. I have a 66 C2 and I am seriously considering the world 427 SB in place of the tired 327. If I may ask, which cam are you using - and how do feel about the tradeoff between driveability and the high end performance and sound? Love the sound, but Iwas thinking more mild (Maybe 230 deg?). Your thoughts?

  • The cam is a Competition Cams roller cam.

    Duration is 236 intake, 242 exhaust @ .050

Lobe lift is .347 intake, .36 exhaust

    Lobe separation is 110.

The driveability is definitely compromised a bit at low speed idling around town, but for me it's well worth the trade off. I think with a little fine tuning I could improve the driveability but for weekend use I can live with it. Besides, once I get into the mechanical secondaries I forget all about the everything else. These motors rock.

  • Thanks for the response, it really does help me to gage the cam to the actual engine response - it's kinda tough to get that relationship off the Comp Cams website.

  • what kind of wheels and rims are those?

  • They are the stock 15" x 8" rally rims, with center caps. At the time of the video I was waiting for a new set of trim rings to complete the stock look.

  • The difference between a small block and a big block is the spacing between the cylender centers a big block the cyclenders are spaced further apart. My world 454 is 4.25 bore and 4.00 stroke

  • Sweet ride I have a Camaro with a World 454 small block going in it Again Sweet ride

  • I love to hear all these people on here telling the guy what kind of motor he has in his own car!!!lol. I mean come on. It sounds great man. I saw a 454 small block once in a camaro. It was the goodmark car i think. All custom, block and everything. Cam location was changed to allow for the huge stroke and bore.

  • shit, that is nice

    like the paint

  • Sounds great! I love the lump lump! check out my vids..

  • Been there. Done that.

  • Its fair to say that sound was orgasmic :D I sooo want this car. Anyone selling? :-)

  • Not a chance. I've owned her since 1990 when I was 17. Thanks for looking.

  • You lucky B***** lol, this is a dream car.

  • Sounds like trash rattling around in a tin can. Why would anyone want to make a nice vette sound like a bondo buggy?

That is one sweet ride that deserves a smoother running plant.

  • you r an idiot ur probably a dumb ricer who doesnt know anytthing about anything how could you say that spounds bad its called a cam duhhh

  • I'm about as far from a ricer as it gets you retarded shitsack.

It's called overlap you fucking retard & it destroys useable off idle torque on the street.

Would you care to match wits? Or are you just a stupid fuck who can't spell, capitolize, type, or even use correct punctuation.

Oh, did I'd love to beat you to death?

Get a formal education you ignorant fuck.

  • we call them dump pipes here in New Zealand. sounds like 400hp cam highrise. Noice noise well done dpduval

  • Hot for the Teacher....perfect!

  • ouch!!after 3 hours of flat out bookin' it!!

    500 degree burn-tubes!!!!!lol

  • lol i hear u there

  • This thing sounds nasty. It does sound like some tribal drums or something.

  • Dude, not that you mentioned drums it actually sounds almost exactly like the drums in the beginning of Van Halen's "Hot for Teacher."

  • YES! they can BBQ the backside of leg! They can burn holes in your pants, melt your shoes and make your Corvette sound just like a Jeep CJ5! LOL. Seriously, you will only burn yourself ONCE and then learn to step OVER the pipe :)

  • I'll assume you like the sound too...

Depending upon the type of muffler used in the side pipe you can increase flow and reduce back presure therefore making significant gains in HP.

  • and a complete drop in torque curve

  • Some of these people are idiots haha. Very nice sounding SMALL BLOCK!

  • Bass cannons, for sure!

  • a fucking 427 is a BIG BLOCK!!!!!!!!!!

  • Not necessarily true.

  • If it was original to the car it would be a big block.

  • There are no 427s in '70 vettes. Chevy switched to the 454 for the big block option that year. This motor is definitely not the original for this car. Thanks for looking.

  • MCDEMOSS

A stroked motor can be a small block.

  • there is no such thing as a 427 sbc. The chevy small block ranged included the 262, 265, 267, 283, 302, 305, 307, 327, 350 and 400. After 400 Cu in. its a big block.

  • Check out a company called World Castings and you find that there is indeed a 427 small block chevy. Besides, bored and stroked motors have been around forever and give many more engine variations then the 10 you list. Just because they aren't produced by Chevy doesn't mean they don't exist.

  • In my opinion what you have is a Big Block. To me, 401+ = Big Block.

    Alas, to each his own.

  • Cubic inches aren't the deciding factor between big and small block chevys. These engine blocks are completely different castings and the heads, cams, intakes, headers... from own style don't bolt up to the other.

I agree that my 427 cu in engine is big, but technically it's not a big block chevy.

    thanks for watching.

  • GM offers a "LSX" after market block. It's a 427 small block. It's capable of taming 2500hp.

Check it out on jegs. They exist. It's also the motor in the new 7.0 zo6 vette.

  • cool!!

  • What's the compression ratio?

  • 9.5:1

Nothing too radical, but it let's me run on pump gas.

  • that's a bad vette dude

  • Where did you buy the spiral Baffles at and how much?

  • I got mine through Spiral Turbo Baffles. They cost about $350.

  • anybody know who makes they side pipes and where can u buy??? thanks

  • They are Hooker Headers and side pipes. Summit Racing has them.

  • Awesome sound Awesome sound Awesome sound Awesome sound Awesome sound supeer

  • Beautiful car. Sounds wicked.

  • Awesome sound! I wish I could wake up to that every morning.

  • those headers and sidepipes are expensive!

  • it sounds like tribal drums pounding out a beautiful song

  • remove the front spoiler is shit :P and paint the hood red again !!! :) see my corvette and my engine in my videos

  • The spioler is functional as it forces more air through the radiator. I had trouble keeping the previous 406 block cool enough for stop and go driving.

The entire car will get painted when the mechanical work is complete.

  • good then,,i bought that spoiler and fit it in my 79 corvette ,,but i didnt like the look ,,i think the 82 models front complete bumper is the most beautifull of all c3 ,,,maybe i ll try to fit one in mine

  • there is such thing you retards they are just rare.

  • The LS7 is the only 427sb that GM mass produced.

  • a 427 small block is a 400 block with a 4.00"stroke crank so its possible just alot more money than a traditional 427

  • The only small block 427 that GM has is the LS7, and thats in the '07+ Z06's. That 427 is a big block. If your going to own american muscle, at least know whats under the hood.

  • Check out a company called World Products and you'll find that there is indeed a 427 Small Block Chevy. I think I know what's under the hood...I put it there.

  • I stand corrected. I was thinking OEM engines. Because your vette had a 427BB option... I never considered aftermarket swaps. Is it basicaly a 350sb with a 4" stroke, or is it bored.

  • a 350 bored 30 over is only a 355,how the fuck could you bore one that much

i think you cheated on your home work

  • I was asking if it was just stroked, or if it was bored and stroked. Congrats! You managed to figure out that you can't get +77ci out of a small block chevy by just boreing it out. There is no need to be a keyboard ninja because, you can't even type a correct sentence.

  • Lol,

    owned.

  • is it world cast or world products

i got my heads from world cast products

    good sounding engine

your buddy 2006stx might want to do some research on some shit and do some home work

  • I believe that that they are one in the same. World Castings is the parent company and World Products are the products that they produce.

  • no such thing as a small block 427 buddy

  • Im In Love with this car!!
