Its great to see all the wonderful comments ... I think people are starting to actually understand the community better. omg, looking back at that episode of CSI, it was like zombies in costume, there was no character, no believable action among the fursuiters. They're just walking arms straight....boring. Real fursuiters strut and dance and ANIMATE THEMSELVES! The bottom line of fursuiting is you are becoming a cartoon character! You have to be lively and energetic unless your character IS a zombie...and even then, you'd be doing your best to get your delicious braaaaiiinnnsss...

I am so happy to finaly see a polite and nice responce to a convention by the media. I think those interviewed comported themselves well also. They cute brown canine was prolly the best guy to pick out of all the suiters to interview. He never seemed to lose his happy disposition. :)
to bad he didn't use more of "cloudy's" interview the reporter ask "What do you think about people wearing fur suits and Cloudy asked him "What do think of people who play with Model Trains?" LOL
While the CSI episode itself is 7 years old, there's probably a significant number of people who only saw it more recently, on reruns, the 4th season DVD set, or on video sites. TV episodes can have a significant "shelf life". So yeah, unfortunately there's a real need to debunk it still.
I saw this on the local news a few days ago and decided to actually check out some furry vids on youtube. I had kind of heard of the fandom, but didn't really know anything about it. It's a lot cooler than I thought it was, just about having a good laugh and making the people around you smile. I don't see how it's any weider than people with a ton of tatoos, and you can't take those off at the end of the day XD
It's so true! This was my first con, and over the period of three full days there, it just made my heart gush to see how many people were there to just be warm and friendly and spread some love.

Well, you could try showing them this clip. It's a pretty positive one that seems like it would put a parent's mind at ease. Also, if you're local, you could bring one of your parents down to talk with some of the staff members so they can answer and questions they might be worried about.
That's a positive interview at all... Though, not all furries are fursuiters, it's one way of feeling and living the fandom x3 1:12 Is what I think...! And you can make people smile on a bad day too :D

While the CSI episode itself is 7 years old, there's probably a significant number of people who only saw it more recently, on reruns, the 4th season DVD set, or on video sites. TV episodes can have a significant "shelf life". So yeah, unfortunately there's a real need to debunk it still.

I saw this on the local news a few days ago and decided to actually check out some furry vids on youtube. I had kind of heard of the fandom, but didn't really know anything about it. It's a lot cooler than I thought it was, just about having a good laugh and making the people around you smile. I don't see how it's any weider than people with a ton of tatoos, and you can't take those off at the end of the day XD

Well, you could try showing them this clip. It's a pretty positive one that seems like it would put a parent's mind at ease. Also, if you're local, you could bring one of your parents down to talk with some of the staff members so they can answer and questions they might be worried about.

In a response to the people who thumbs downed your comment because of the term "furfags"...
"Furfags" is one of those terms that's alright to be used by someone who is part of the community it describes, I would expect.
Kind of like the N-word, how when African Americans use it it's alright, but when whites use it it's racism.
I would expect "furfags" to be the same way.
So I don't get why people vote thumbs down to acceptance. :/
