Home made one man show ( with Linda...:)) was amazing ! except "Junk" & "Maybe I'm Amazed" all works of this home-made masterpiece-album I heard for the first time. I was 6 years old in 1970. LONG LIVE PAUL MCCARTNEY ! Thanks for posting !
@drumsofthunder32 When Lennon was asked if Ringo was the best drummer in the world he answered "Ringo is not even the best drummer in The Beatles" LOL ;)
esta cancion se me hace como un tema experimental como lo que fue revolution 9 los beatles juntos siento que lo es esta cancion para Paul McCartney solista
Wow, I really loved this album... I had only heard 'Maybe I'm Amazed'... I love The Beatles, but they're respective solo careers are the ones that I don't dig a lot... But this is a well piece of art... This song has some psychedellic elements, as well as progressive (time signature changes), and avant-garde (use of vocal effects).... Reminds me a lot of early Pink Floyd songs... :) Surely this album is the next I'm buying out of iTunes...
I disagree :) I think the fact that there was no producer gave Paul his intellectual and musical freedom and space to explore his own concepts... Like zeldamex said at times it reminds you almost of Pink Floyd! The second side of the album is a good example of this. The first side was maybe what you'd expect from a McCartney album (Acoustic based love songs),which don't get me wrong are brilliant in their own right. But part of what makes McCartney McCartney is his creativity :)
@Rondo I love this album because of the lo-fi, loose feel and I agree that the 'no producer, DIY instrumentation' is great! - but even glyn johns as a engineer wud have ironed out the many production flaws (like unwanted distortion, microphne set up etc)- In 1970 Glyn johns produced (mainly as an engineer) the Who's incredible 'who'sNext' album- just saying he wud have been a great man to have around in working successfully with paul in the past! Super album! Check out 1997's 'Flamming Pie' :)

There is an Italian progressive track of the same year which samples
guitar sound at 0:48 and everything between 0:50 and 1:00,
it's called "Oeuvres" by Claudio Rocchi.
Sadly it's not on the Tube; I'll upload it sooner or later
so you can hear by yourself;
plus,that piece is interesting in its own shape:
it's the first case of track sampling in Italian "popular"music,
that kind of pop which merged with avant-garde tape manipulation practices

Probably McCartney had this movie in mind
when composing this track;
I just discovered that Kreen-Akrore are a Brazilian tribe

Most interesting thing on this McCartney first post Beatles album is that he played all instruments alone.

Brillant album- great concept! Badly misses the direction of a producer- glyn johns would have done the trick!
