When i start learning a new classical piece I always look it up in yt to see how someone plays it and its always some asian kid playing it :P am so jealous cause she is like 6 or 7 years younger
Well done. I thought both the prelude and fugue were played beautifully for someone of any age let alone 9 years. I'm 45 and currently engaged in a fight to the death with both of these pieces. If I ever manage to play either as nicely as you, I'l be well chuffed.
It is also a scientifically proven fact that 88.4% of negative comments on utube are borne of jealousy, spitefulness and immaturity, so if you have had any of those (I haven't bothered checking) ignore them. Well done and best wishes
@waldowabbit: I've never agreed with the idea of voicing the subject and answer above the background; it strikes me as somewhat hamfisted, and it's not possible to do that on an harpsichord or organ, making it doubtful that Bach would have considered it essential to the playing technique.
Everyone who talks about how much better she is than you. It's all perspective. Who ever is also learning this song, like myself, had to learn at some point. She just started at an early age. So don't feel bad. I used too, but I've come to accept that 'different strokes for different folks'
Bach's intention of the Prelude of this P and F is Moderato. Most players tends to rush a little. The dynaoic marking on the climax of this prelude in book is allegro assai follow by prestisimo.
@canman5060 Bach didn't intend anything. He wrote the WTC largely without dynamics or tempo indications. Music is about interpretation, not sticking to the norm.
One of Bach preludes that i love more then I can think. I do prefer a little bit slowly and less legatto (really love stacattos), but its impressive enought.
Played it when i was at the age of 8! Tough it does take some practice and i think every beginning pianist should play a piece of Das Wohltemperierte Klavier ;) Nice job anyway!
Don't worry about your age. The music has lasted almost 300 years! I'm 36 and still play this piece.
The one thing I've learned is that while you may be technicially gifted, as is the girl in the video, the musicality of the piece comes with age and experience.
Keep that in mind as you continue practicing and you will do well!
i bet it would've been better if we could see it actually live! you know how the recordings make the sound so fuzzy! (i hate that!) anyways, i think that was excellent, even with the fuzzy sounds! and I know i'm not the only one who thinks so! :)
why is it when i look up piano classical pieces its always some 9 year old asian kid... who is generally better than me... (16) this girl is 9 and she is playing what i am playing...
I like seeing young children play Bach more than Chopin...I guess because you can't really understand Chopin that young. I don't care how much they swing their hands around.
very skillful, but rushed through important parts. you can tell it's not her favorite piece. she'll perhaps learn to fall in love with her music playing as she gets older.
Although its very smooth, theres not enough difference between the first part before the Presto, and the Adagio is to fast. Either slow the measures before the Presto part down or speed of the Presto measures. Make sure you have a walking pace in the Adagio part. But other than that great job.

However, this interpretation of the prelude was way too fast IMO. Needs to be more staccato as well.

I'm pretty sure there aren't tempo markings until the presto, nor are there any staccato marks. Your personal preference isn't the score.

Good performance for her age!
But a few tips to everyone who is learning this:
Watch out for the phrasing, especially on the subject, and make sure every time it reappears it is phrased the same way.
Make sure that the subject and answer are always voiced above the background.
And be sure to always follow the note lengths that Bach wrote, especially when they hold over other notes.
Cheers

It's kind of funny, but the first three measures where the whole subject is played can be one of the most daunting parts.
Especially the last three notes of the subject.
G F Eb
If you also consider the staccato in the subject, the fugue can become a laborious little pain in the ass.
