@CriticsBusiness yes i dont mind remakes of films that werent that popular, like Scarface (1932), they remaked it and people started looking at the original version and THHE remake kicked ass, but you shouldnt be remaking movies that dont need to be remade other than money.

I am proud to say I did recognize Dee Wallace when she appeared early in the review. (For some reason, I've never actually seen this movie, just the crappy recent remake or sequel or whatever the hell it was... Had the same plot, so i assume it was a remake!)

Doug metamorphoses from wimpy pacifist to hardcore survivalist vigilante. In the remake, he blows away mutants with a shotgun even having two of his fingers hacked off. The "hacking-off-of-two-fingers" bit seems to be a recurring motif in certain genre films. And it's always the same two fingers (ring finger and pinky, usually on the left hand).

now I know there are comments that talk about the remake and what I have to say is that the reason for crashing is different and the actors are both more recognizable and more to my liking.

he also talks about the dog much earlier

there's a bunch of stuff that's different and just about all of it is better in my eyes.

also the remake got a sequel (which felt extremely different from the remake and the original)

Despite its problems, "The Hills Have Eyes" is a fun 70's film. I like it. More so than the remake (yuck!).
