Hi I have this camera but everytime I try and take a video it only lasts 15 seconds, how do I change this? Nice video by the way I hope I can produce something similar for the family.
@avista100 the reason it only shoots 15 seconds is because the memory card your using isn't recording it fast enough for it to record long periods of time. is it saying "recording stopped automatically"???
@avista100 i actually ended up finding out that the reason it doesn't shoot for more then 15 seconds can be becus of the sd card, when changing to a class 10 sd card you can shoot up to 11-22 minutes.... after 22minutes the sensor gets hot and shuts down, which causes it to stop recording so the sensor won't burn out. hope this helps
@TonyDispirito13 Hi thanks for the tip, I changed the SD card to a HD sd card with 32GB or 64GB (can't quite remember) memory... and now I can shoot video's for longer as you said- problem solved! I couldn't find the solution in the manual or on the net- perhaps I had missed it so - thanks for the help!
Okay you have the toys. Now it is time to focus on your cinematography, story telling and editing skills. It would be a waste after spending that amount of money on a professional camera. Good Luck. Watch some films with the best DOPs.
Nice work. How do you like that camera? I'm thinking of getting one. Do you know any diff between the 5d and 7d. The 7d seams to be cheaper in price.
@illtroop Yes, but the 5D has a full frame sensor, quite a difference. If it wasn't for the full frame (hence less noise) sensor, I'd consider the 7D the better camera. Both are amazing high-end cameras, however, unless you desperately want full frame, I suggest the 7D.
If you're new to DSLRs, and money is nothing, I'd still suggest the 7D. It shoots photos faster (8 FPS vs 3.9 FPS) for one thing.
Also, if anything, I suggest budgeting much more toward lenses than the actual camera body itself.

@greghster it's a canon 5d, it's being wasted if it's focus is for making film
