This is an excellent poem. My comment under my old username was an ignorant one. This sonnet shows a certain genius in my opinion. There is poetry which is bad--scribbling--, poetry which is decent--the product of normal men expressing themselves--, poetry which is good--the poetry of those who wish to be known as poets--and then there is that rarity among poets--genius. This at least leans toward genius. Perhaps it is a work of genius. After all,
You did a great job capturing the archaic language of the time; however, I would recommend going one way or the other. Like "Your multi-leveled polyphonic quest" is very modern, but then rest is very Olde Time. I would even say go as far as to use much more archaic words, sample some from Faerie Queene like "Am now enforst a far unfitter taske," just a piece of advice to make it a more true dedication to him, but it's still a very nice tribute. Ha, my tribute should be up next week.
I will consider that. The poem was written many years ago, so I'm hesitant to alter anything now. fluid 'scape and timeless time are contemporary as well,
Wow, very nice. I quite like your sonnet. If flows very well and I like how it is written. Please view mine, if you would. I am not satisfied with these sonnets, as I feel I have made a signifigant change in my writing, but other like them.
So true! I just love TFQ and I don't know how many people can dare read it these days, 'cept literature majors (which I am not, lol) But I love it and this is a spot on tribute to Spensers genius. Love it, Glen. Do you have anything on the mysterious writer of Beowulf? Another fav of mine.
Thanks, this has been added to our playlists here, and on facebook...
