@llamaghawa Each UP unit (Dil, Man, LB, etc) is working on a smaller budget when compared to other schools in its league, like Ateneo and La Salle, so it is understandable there may be shortcomings in certain areas. I'd rather have them keep pouring their budget into educational improvements than CRs. Although di ko alam saang UP napuntahan mo, maganda ang CR sa CAS Annex at yung new EE bldg sa UPLB.

Which is something we likely will not see in the near future. But UP is already up there with the University of Singapore as the best schools in SEA, and that's a start.

Ang budget ng karamihan sa mga top 100 schools in the world ay larger than the budget of the entire Phils. The budget of Harvard's College of Medicine alone is already at 20trillion pesos, paano pa yung buong school. Imposible na makapasok ang UP sa top 100 considering Philippine finances.

Yes UP can be bulok compared to certain schools in other countries, but it cannot be denied that it is one of the best in the Philippines. If you studied in another country, OK sige, tatanggapin ko yun, pero if dito ka lang sa Pinas nagstudy, ikaw ang tanga. Tatawagin mo na bulok ang UP when you would come from an institution that considers UP as one of the best.

Ewan ko kung naintindihan mo na UP does not earn anything. Lahat ng pera ng school ay from the education budget ng government, at kinakaltasan pa ito. PGMA even had 250million peso cut out of the UP budget in her term. Considering na lumiliit ang budget ng UP ranking 200+ out of ten thousands is an achievement.

UPLB did just that when some members of the UPLB Chorale (if I am not mistaken) sang "Isang Daan" during the Centennial Kick-Off Concert in Diliman. The crowd cheered when the song was being sang by the contingent from Los Baños.

Yup, I was at the kick-off...I meant the song is not only for UPLB. :) The group of singers who sang "Isang Daan" are Communication Arts students from UPLB (including Angel Dayao who composed the song). UPLB Choral also performed at the kick-off but not during the concert (they led the singing of "UP Naming Mahal" after the Centennial Cauldron was lit).

Thanks for the correction. I thought all along that it was also the UPLB Chorale which had interpreted the song that night. Beautiful interpretation of "Isang Daan" by Ms. Dayao's group. Beautiful melody. "Isang Daan" is the unofficial anthem of the UP Centennial, IMHO. :-)
