Soooo glad I found this video! I was all ready to take it somewhere to get it fixed and randomly just decided I'll try it myself...so glad I did! Took me less than 5 minutes and saved me $1200
I recommend a ratchet set to turn the square 3 bit that manually moves the chair. I couldn't fit a screwdriver in between the hole and the frame of the car. Easy fix overall!
This video saved each of us $1,093 on parts plus labor, according to a local Toyota dealership. They said the motor alone isn't replaceable, but you have to replace the entire "seat adjuster" base. Screw that. Then I found your 15-minute fix -- awesome! Thanks man. My 2002 required a square 3 screw bit. Also, I found the screw on the back to be a pain, but a magnetized screw tip helped. The adjuster buttons pop off using a lever on the top - be careful to not break the tabs.
THANKYOU THANK YOU. YOU ARE MY HERO!!. I had to drive with my 2003 Camry front seat stuck on forward for years. I sat in the seat and used a cordless drill to move it. (I am a little old lady)
Oh man, can I just say that your video just saved my life!! Well, kinda. My car seat was stuck in the EXACT same way yours was.I was freaking out thinking that I was gonna have to pay to have it fixed, BIG MONEY. My seat was stuck all the way up to the steering wheel, so driving was a bitch. I stumbled across your vid, did what you said, and BAM, it worked. THANKS!!!!
Thank you so much for posting this solution on youtube. This little trick literally saved me thousands!!!!! THANKS!!!!!
