  • Strange. I was brought here by AFI, another band often [incorrectly] labeled 'emo'. Love this song to death, original or AFI's cover [which I reccomend]. God, this is back when hardcore meant hardcore.

  • in 1986 there was NO "emo"

  • @salope413

    There was emocore!

  • @haydenarias Yeh its a pity the whole Emo thing has so much shit on it. I remember listening to this when it came out. It was just differnet, real and honest! Cant be Hardcore 24/7! Goota eat, sleep and feel

  • @salope413 .Exactly, no emo at the time. It was all just punk and hardcore.

  • The first band to be considered "emo". things have definitely changed.

  • I fucking love the chorus of this song so much. Dave Smalley = pop punk vocal god.

  • @chriscauldermusic pop punk?

  • @TheMetalheadfromhell Yes. The true pop punk. Melodic punk. Descendents, ALL, Dag Nasty, DBL, NOFX, Teen Idols. Not All American Rejects. Pop is not an insult. It means "hooky."

  • @TheMetalheadfromhell And re: Dave Smalley.... listen to the HOOKS of "Values Here" - the harmonies, the layers... it just friggin' soars. Poppy, hooky. Same is true with Down By Law's "Bright Green Globe" especially the first few lines.

  • I'll take "songs from my youth" for $1000 Alex...

  • first music record I ever bought.

  • I heard this song on 98.7 in Los Angeles, what a jam.
