  • 7 miles - thats still too close for me

  • JESUS FUCKING CHRIST.. you almost gave me a heart attack PLEASE PEOPLE IF U WATCH TURN THE VOLUME DOWN...he gets wayy exited when he saw the inner part of the tornado,.. ...

  • Just wondering..Have we ever created our own tornadoes in a scientifically-controlled setting using advanced machine apparatuses to control and harness their destructive power for positive uses like converting a controlled tornado's destructive power into a wind energy resource which we can use? The only factor being, this source of energy from 'wind energy' would greatly accrue power generation much more readily than our other gradual sources of providing energy from wind energy? Just a thought

  • I cant see any thing @ 1:51

  • simple idea . Make your houses under a half sphere made of thick glass or materials that can withstand tornado forces. Or simply make your houses underground so the tornado will just pass overhead

  • IM NOT KIDDING PAUSE AT 1:51 SEE ON THE TOP U WILL SEE A MAN IM NOT JOKING!

  • @belltechs Haha xD

  • SHUT THE FUCK UP

  • AT 1:51 I SEE A PICTURE OF A BABYS FACE DIRECTLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE VIDEO.... PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME IM NOT CRAZY!!!......

ALSO IF YOU DO SEE THAT LOOK AT THE RIGHT CORNER OF THE VIDEO YOU WILL SEE LIKE A FOX TYPE OF NOSE WITH AN EYEBALL, CAN YOU SEE IT.

  • yeah you can tell this guy didn't make it to ESPN... ended up narrating tornadoes

  • @tornadomad tim samaras is twstex vortex2 is a bunch of bitches who think thier better than everyone else

  • @twilightluvr222 oh yeah... Josh Wurman... i hate that guy... because of him, Sean Casey can't be within 200 miles of V2

  • @tornadomad i know right i cant stand him i mean who does he think he is

  • @ 1:00 is that TIV2?

  • @NCR01464 Actually, that's the Dominator! lol! i thought it was trees but then i looked closely and saw another video in the related panel of it

  • Comment removed

  • That's why i prefer amateur footage. Fuckin reporter bullshit

  • MY wife and I are actually amateur storm chasers our selves. We havent seen any tornados yet just a few funnel clouds

  • @millienniumforce100 good luck and make sure you know what you are doing. If unsure about a circumstance always play it safe and stay back!

  • @finalfanta25 oh we will. even if we see hail we try to stay away

  • nice shots!!

  • ok dude shut up we know is a tornado cal fucking down

  • wonder what would happen if you shot a rocket in to a tornado?

  • @xxreppinxx614xx if u do it just might explode in the tornado and everything in the tornado might get smaller and everything in it might come out

  • Somebody give that guy a muzzle. =u=

  • some give that dude a commentary job

  • It looks like the movie twister was pretty accurate how they showed the inside of the F5 tornado. Beautiful.

  • I live in Southern California and I have never seen a tornado. I think I need to take a vacation and go and see one. You all that live in these part have a lot of guts. This is a constant threat for most of your lives.

  • @DetroitLove4U DetroitLove in So Cali? heh. It's funny, I lived in Michigan and Texas when I was young and I was always terrified of the tornado warnings, but when I lived in Irvine, CA, I witnessed a tornado touch down. It was a weak one, fortunately, because it happened to hit the only trailer park in the entire city. Go figure.

  • the part where you could look inside the tornado was awesome!!!

  • its amazing

  • RAIN WRAPPED TWISTER

  • the tornados kinda creepy wrapped around the rain. Its likes it has own determined danger zone

  • what state or country was this?

  • @alexandraf37 wyoming usa

  • Oh god! is raining hell there

  • we had a tornado like in july!! FREAKy!!

  • I think even if the Tornado had reformed over his head he would still have been commentating; "Amazing, the updraft seems to have sucked me up and right now am being hurled 300 meters into the aiiirrr."

  • Take a breath mate!

  • Once a tornado passed right over our house! It didn't hit us, though, because it hadn't touched down yet! Talk about lucky!

  • tornado caught live...as opposed to ...hmm

  • i love hurricanes xD

  • I remember watching this live!!!

  • me too :D

  • I was on that storm It was north of Chyanee Wyoming near LaGrange It was on the grond for 40 min.

  • The only reason this tornado was a EF1 is because there was nothing out there to hit. The Doppler radar measured wind speeds in this tornado were well in excess of an EF1 but because the scale is based on the damage a tornado produces and not its actual wind speed it was rated much lower than what it could have been.

  • If it hadn't hit anything it would have been rated EF0, though an EF1 rating could have result if it hit trees before it reachaed full intensity

  • oh, nice stove pipe tornado, looks like its going to be rain wrapped though :S

  • whats that face at 0.53 ????

  • @trech23

Either it's because I have no imagination, or that I simply can't see it... but, where are you looking? lol

  • I have watched the weather channel every day since the early 80's.

Living in Missouri and visiting Texas I get to see severe weather at times.

I was in Galveston in August but was at East Beach when the waterspout-tornado hit.

I had been in the area of ground 0; 45 minutes before it hit. I also had been observing that area of thunderstorms that sponned the tornado for nearly 2 hours.

I was under the edge of the super cell and it looked like a big flower directly over head.

  • use have a fucked up country, brilliant video

  • that was awsome

  • at 1:53 the tornado looks like a finger pointing at the sky

  • Air ans it's wonders :)

  • I love storms and I love that you can see inside the tornado!

  • i was watching this live when it happened :p

  • 1:46 HOLY SHIT! That's awesome! That's the closest I've ever seen to the ultimate "tornado porn" - a shot inside looking upwards, like at the end of "Twister" (which of course was CGI)

  • fuckin amazin vid

  • Dude! he keeps saying "goeshingtornado" or something, southeast, tornade, and "what you're watching/seeing".

  • Ha i was in that ... it was scary ...

  • NIce job Mike!

  • I wish TWC Would upload the Vortex 2 bumper of mike saying "The tornado came right infront of us!" The music on that intro is so awesome.

  • every time i watch this on tv my eyes get glued to it

  • Great video, WAY too much commentary. I had to mute it.

  • lol shaft

  • It's a cool video. But I could go with more science and less Hollywood drama from the Weather Channel ... oh well I guess I shouldnt complain - he didn't attribute it to Global Warming.

  • No offense meant, but I'd like to see you be able to concentrate on the science instead of the "Hollywood drama" with a tornado about a mile away from you, particularly when you've spent the entire past month on the road, trying to catch one with no success.

Between the video, the radar data (supplemented with the Cheyenne NEXRAD about 40 miles away), and the probe data, they sliced, diced, and julienned this storm... DECADES worth of data to dissect!

  • none taken, and yes I'm very happy for the project and the data that has been retrieved. Having been in the field for a while I'm just annoyed to see what TWC used to be and what it is now, and also annoyed that an audience can't enjoy such footage without such hyperboles.

P.S. yeah great location so close to CYS, the 0.5 deg data will be huge in future work.

  • @BayouBoy425 The frequency increase & more widespread twisters ARE because ignorant people like you won't STOP using FOSSIL FUELS,which dynamically increased any natural global warming cycle. You apparently DO NOT have any idea what you're saying,SO KEEP MOUTH CLOSED!

  • You do understand that increased frequency and intensity of tornadic activity (Super Outbreak 1974, April 2011) is usually due to the La Nina cycle of the Eastern Pacific Oscillation -- that is a cooling in that ocean's water temperatures, which in turn determines the predominant weather patterns across most of the Earth's surface. This is unrelated to any anthropogenic modification. In fact in the theory of global warming in the mid-latitudes suggests warmer/drier - not good 4 tornadogenesis.

  • it's still playing every hour today.

  • I heard this could have been an EF-2 Tornado. We will have to wait to see since there wasn't any major damage. I was guessing EF-1, but the wedge was 1/4 mile wide at most.

  • Look into the Center of a Tornado at 01:46 , nice shot......

  • Yeah, that's unreal!!! Almost like a Hollwood special effect!

  • AWESOME!

  • I saw this start to finish..awesome!

  • Funnel on the ground? Wedge?

    Gee I expect better

  • Wow this is what you call reality TV!!

  • You have no idea... This tornado passed within 50 feet of my vehicle! It took out power lines as it blew across the road! With softball sized hail that smashed out my back window completely and put 5 spider cracks in my windshield!

I am studying tornadoes to learn more about antigravity. I can't understand why Vortex 2 with their $10 Million in funding aren't measuring data on magnetic fields inside of rotating storms... What a waste!

  • How did it take out power lines if there was not single power flash? It's whole lifetime was caught on TV.

  • All the footage you've seen was shot from miles away... I saw the thing on the ground up close. It went straight across the road behind me and took out a few telephone poles and I saw the transformer blow.

  • It didn't take out any power lines.

  • amazing...

  • 1:45 is INCREDIBLE!

  • Wow.

    Excellent footage!

Anyone know the rating of it?

  • I live about 10-20 miles away from where the tornado touched down. I got to watch it with my own eyes for about 15 minutes before it went away.

  • about damn time, it was awesome to hear about it though ch. 5 here in north TX.

  • Saw this today, HOLY CRAP.

  • I saw this same tornado on a video that TornadoVideosDotNet had just posted. Cool to see that you both were within a mile or two of each other.

  • It's about time.

  • HURRAY!! I've been following this project since b4 it started... *grin* I hope the team was able to catch some of the data you were hoping to get!

  • I saw this on TV as it happend, that was the most epic thing i've ever seen.

  • Glad to see you got a tornado...I'm hoping to get one of my own this Sunday. To xazuross - basically NOBODY was getting tornadoes for the last month as the weather pattern was not good. Things are now improving though...

  • Glad to see they finally got a tornado on film, great job guys!
