JESUS FUCKING CHRIST.. you almost gave me a heart attack PLEASE PEOPLE IF U WATCH TURN THE VOLUME DOWN...he gets wayy exited when he saw the inner part of the tornado,.. ...
Just wondering..Have we ever created our own tornadoes in a scientifically-controlled setting using advanced machine apparatuses to control and harness their destructive power for positive uses like converting a controlled tornado's destructive power into a wind energy resource which we can use? The only factor being, this source of energy from 'wind energy' would greatly accrue power generation much more readily than our other gradual sources of providing energy from wind energy? Just a thought
simple idea . Make your houses under a half sphere made of thick glass or materials that can withstand tornado forces. Or simply make your houses underground so the tornado will just pass overhead
@YouGlued F**K ESPN,BUNCH OF DIMWITS RUNNING AROUND WITH tiny balls IN THE HANDS,THE MAN YOU SEEN IS A SCIENTIST PLAYING W/ EXTREMELY DANGEROUS STORMS,YOU SISSY.
I live in Southern California and I have never seen a tornado. I think I need to take a vacation and go and see one. You all that live in these part have a lot of guts. This is a constant threat for most of your lives.
@DetroitLove4U DetroitLove in So Cali? heh. It's funny, I lived in Michigan and Texas when I was young and I was always terrified of the tornado warnings, but when I lived in Irvine, CA, I witnessed a tornado touch down. It was a weak one, fortunately, because it happened to hit the only trailer park in the entire city. Go figure.
I think even if the Tornado had reformed over his head he would still have been commentating; "Amazing, the updraft seems to have sucked me up and right now am being hurled 300 meters into the aiiirrr."
The only reason this tornado was a EF1 is because there was nothing out there to hit. The Doppler radar measured wind speeds in this tornado were well in excess of an EF1 but because the scale is based on the damage a tornado produces and not its actual wind speed it was rated much lower than what it could have been.
I have watched the weather channel every day since the early 80's.
Living in Missouri and visiting Texas I get to see severe weather at times.
I was in Galveston in August but was at East Beach when the waterspout-tornado hit.
I had been in the area of ground 0; 45 minutes before it hit. I also had been observing that area of thunderstorms that sponned the tornado for nearly 2 hours.
I was under the edge of the super cell and it looked like a big flower directly over head.
1:46 HOLY SHIT! That's awesome! That's the closest I've ever seen to the ultimate "tornado porn" - a shot inside looking upwards, like at the end of "Twister" (which of course was CGI)
It's a cool video. But I could go with more science and less Hollywood drama from the Weather Channel ... oh well I guess I shouldnt complain - he didn't attribute it to Global Warming.
No offense meant, but I'd like to see you be able to concentrate on the science instead of the "Hollywood drama" with a tornado about a mile away from you, particularly when you've spent the entire past month on the road, trying to catch one with no success.
Between the video, the radar data (supplemented with the Cheyenne NEXRAD about 40 miles away), and the probe data, they sliced, diced, and julienned this storm... DECADES worth of data to dissect!
none taken, and yes I'm very happy for the project and the data that has been retrieved. Having been in the field for a while I'm just annoyed to see what TWC used to be and what it is now, and also annoyed that an audience can't enjoy such footage without such hyperboles.
P.S. yeah great location so close to CYS, the 0.5 deg data will be huge in future work.
@BayouBoy425 The frequency increase & more widespread twisters ARE because ignorant people like you won't STOP using FOSSIL FUELS,which dynamically increased any natural global warming cycle. You apparently DO NOT have any idea what you're saying,SO KEEP MOUTH CLOSED!
You do understand that increased frequency and intensity of tornadic activity (Super Outbreak 1974, April 2011) is usually due to the La Nina cycle of the Eastern Pacific Oscillation -- that is a cooling in that ocean's water temperatures, which in turn determines the predominant weather patterns across most of the Earth's surface. This is unrelated to any anthropogenic modification. In fact in the theory of global warming in the mid-latitudes suggests warmer/drier - not good 4 tornadogenesis.
I heard this could have been an EF-2 Tornado. We will have to wait to see since there wasn't any major damage. I was guessing EF-1, but the wedge was 1/4 mile wide at most.
You have no idea... This tornado passed within 50 feet of my vehicle! It took out power lines as it blew across the road! With softball sized hail that smashed out my back window completely and put 5 spider cracks in my windshield!
I am studying tornadoes to learn more about antigravity. I can't understand why Vortex 2 with their $10 Million in funding aren't measuring data on magnetic fields inside of rotating storms... What a waste!
All the footage you've seen was shot from miles away... I saw the thing on the ground up close. It went straight across the road behind me and took out a few telephone poles and I saw the transformer blow.
Glad to see you got a tornado...I'm hoping to get one of my own this Sunday. To xazuross - basically NOBODY was getting tornadoes for the last month as the weather pattern was not good. Things are now improving though...

If it hadn't hit anything it would have been rated EF0, though an EF1 rating could have result if it hit trees before it reachaed full intensity
