In their early years, Uriah Heep was certainly a great live band. Their earliest "live" album; however, was not so well-produced. The version here of Lady in Black is as good as was ever done PERIOD. It should be noted that the only original member here was Mick Box (guitarist). There are always very professional musicians associated with U.H., so that the line-up changes, though noticeable, are without fault for the most part. I just flat love their songs, even today.

@mmvanduijn . Kerslake didn't join Uriah Heep until after their third album had been released (10/71 - Look at Yourself). He replaced Ian Clarke. When Gary Thain joined as bassist in the same general time-frame, Uriah Heep became a truly "improved" band. Their next album was "Demons and Wizards", followed shortly by "The Magician's Birthday" (maybe their best studio album). Their first live effort, "Uriah Heep Live", which I didn't think showed them at their best, was their sixth.

Ich habe Uriah Heep 1974 Live mit David Byron und Gary Thain erlebt. Die damalige Besetzung konnte nie mehr getoppt werden. Das war aber bei vielen anderen Bands auch der Fall und damit muss man sich halt abfinden. Diese Version von Lady In Black kann man daher aber auch noch akzeptieren.

I've only seen the original line up with David Byron, but they were up there amongst the best live bands ever.

I'd include Camel, Rush, Gryphon, Jethro Tull, Irish Celtic rockers Horslips, Scots Celtic rockers Runrig and Wishbone Ash as being others in contention for the title.

But Heep have been going 40 years, which says a lot.

well i can only comment on bands ive seen,so id say the red hot chilli peppers as they were amazing and didnt stand still for 2 hours and patti smith came on and did 2 songs with them,and i saw clapton at the albert hall in 06,musically was fantastic but as a show might as well have listened to a cd

I saw uriah heep at least 10 times, they are still fantastic, the room/ theatre didnt buzz, it fooking exploded. we all went home feeling great. David Byron was the original singer.

And the original is removed for some reason, so thats why this is the only version you can find here. Try metacafe, i found the true first version there some weeks ago :P.

And for the record, Uriah Heep has gone thrue lots of changes during the years, so its not the original setup, and thus, the sound and feel is changed.
