Kind of madness to say these guys were ripping of Radiohead. If they sound like anyone, surely you'd say fellow Irish band Cyclefly, and even then I think their similarities are just a confluence rather than anyone ripping anyone else off. I know bands have influences, but I think you need to open up your frame of reference. Honestly, it's like people think Radiohead invented guitar music.

Can't say i know Cyclefly. I think it was more whilst Nirvana created this whole grunge dark scene, Radiohead came out with ''the bends'' which was this completely different type of alt-rock with falsetto. Naturally any band then that starts developing that sound will be called a copy. If anybody deserves the title of alt-rock inventors its Pixies however.

As a radiohead fan myself i don't see the similarity that much,

Its heartbreaking to read about their break up, like they really were getting somewhere only for trivial things to fuck it up, its liek the irish film the Commitments.

Like you can blatantly hear in their songs a band that was figuring out its niche just like Muse were in the early 00s I was only a young kid when they were popular & a young teen when they broke up. Really pisses me off though for a consistent band to be reduced down to nothing so fast

The girl on the bass didnt actually play from what I can remember. She was a kind of the "Ritchie Edwards" of the band, except she didnt write either. So basically she was nothing like Ritchie Edwards. Shes would still get it though.

A lot of people are debating who came first - jj72 or Muse.

Muse released quite a lot of stuff before jj72, but weren't having much success with it.

It wasn't until after jj72 had released October Swimmer and Oxygen from their self titled album in '99 - that Muse had their first 'real' hit with 'Plug In Baby', released from 'Origin of Symmetry'.

Muse do owe a lot to jj72, as their success with their releases in '99 and '00 paved the way for Muses' success with 'Origin of Symmetry' released '01.

Yeahh i always thought they sounded similar to Muse, and the lead singer looks a bit like Matt Bellamy, but they were unique, did their own thing and made some songs I will never tire of!! :)

@Koakuma6x9Heaven Actually, they weren't. Muse was formed in '94, with their first album (showbiz) released in '99. JJ72's first album (JJ72) wasn't until 2000. JJ72 weren't even formed until '98-'99. Not that it matters though, they both kick ass.

Remeber they came out at the same time as King Adora and both were said to be heavily influenced by Manics in one way or another, both bands seem to have disappeared but both were very good in their own right.

I love them. I saw them live twice and the first time as supporters of Muse in 2001 and it was one of the best night in my life..
