Filipinos are still being taught of the japanese and Korean soldier atrocities during world war 2, they will never forget but have also moved on farther than the koreans (who exclusively hates the japanese to this day) to forgive the japanese of thier fathers wrongdoings. NO denying that animosity still exist from the much older generation, because I still hear some parents not wanting their children to hook up between those countries, but that will be the minority...even representing the smallest number in that group. Japanese are the are the # 1 visitors to Korea & vice versa, proves the past is "water under the bridge"

yes, it's really true, that memories during war, what japan soldiers did to our folks, can't be erase in our memory, filipinos can't forget painful memory especially if it is an abuse to our folks. but as saying goes TIME HEALS, yes we are healed but memories still hunt.

pardon me for saying this.. for a long time in my life i didnt like japan because of stories of atrocities they did to my country during the war == as per my papa and other family members. then later in life, i had the chance to visit japan a few times and i saw that the japanese are courteous, disciplined, honest and tidy. they didnt reflect the japan that my elders told me. and because JAPAN loves charice, now i say to them -- DOMO ARIGATOU GOZAIMASU!

@crabpatrol2 - i have no hatchet to bury --- i was not yet born during the japanese war. i was just listening to stories by my elders about the japanese atrocities and my concept of them was based on their (elders') stories. but i did not witness, so i kept an open mind. that is why when i finally visited japan, all the horrific stories my elders painted burst like bubbles. the japanese are among the most cultured people on earth, seemingly humble, and respectful.
