  • Do you live in MA? You could try asking the Shelburne Falls Trolley Museum if you could try it there.

  • are you going to extend the track? i help if you want mate to get the rails. ive got a friend thats got a forklift to lift the rails and the sleepers in place

  • cool:)

  • Sweeet!

  • No I moved it in pieces from Randolph, Ma to my home. There were a lot of parts to mark and reassemble.

  • was this actually track that was left in your backyard or did you move it to your yars????

  • WWhen is the update coming?

  • Very nice job on the motorcar. Just FYI, there are events at some tourist railroads where you can bring your motorcar and run it in convoy with other motorcars. I'm sure you would enjoy showing off your work as well.

  • That is sweet!

  • When are you gonna post another video?

  • You should find some abandoned tracks and take it for a real run. I wish i had a backyard like that.

  • Nice WORK, I know it took you a long time..

Hey your railcar could use reverse..it would

save you back..Why not use an old GMC

3 speed gear box between output shaft

on motor and axle. PS-signal workin yet

NICE JOB...WHATs the Wife say about

    this??

  • @OSCALETRAINGUY My fiance loves it. All the signals work. A reverser would cost about $750. It's been rebuilt with lighter decking. It weighs about 400 pounds. I'm changing a lot of things and when I'm through I'm going to make another clip. Fall is in the air here and when I do this clip it will be the best yet. thanks for the nice comments.

  • Amazing! It's so unfortunate you couldn't have made it longer!

  • It looks to me like this guy has done a ton of work to build this! Pretty neat...

  • @ginosrailpage Wait till you see the rebuilt version of this.

  • pretty cool man:D

.. u needa like find a long section of old abandond railroad and ride ur car on it.. be pretty sweet:D

  • @johnboyd7 John, I can't wait till I'm done re-doing this car so that it's legal with one of those railcar motorcar clubs and then taking it out on the main line on a group trip. Nothing like being out in the open air, rolling along through the countryside.

  • where did you get that track

  • @madtrain101 It came from the next town to mine where I live now. My late Grandad worked for The New Haven RR back in the early 1900's. The 70 lb/yd rail from 1886 was still there all grown over by trees. I worked a deal out with the town to set up a section of track near where a giant engraved stone marked the now gone RR station in exchange for enough rail and switch to go into my yard. It made the local paper.

  • Where do you get that kind of train?

  • Wow, that's quite a railroad you got there! What you are missing:

    -- Tie plates

-- 2 frogs and another switch

    -- Acreage

  • @ccoraxfan Have plenty of tie plates, wish I had the land and a area where I could build a trestle.

  • Shame you cant extend it further, maybe you should go narrow gauge and do a loop round the garden?

  • Very Nice1

Needs a milepost at the end that reads 0.0189 (100 feet)

  • @mattgin That's interesting, let me see what I can come up with for a sign and figure out a letter to post atop the number. The line starts / ends at my next door neighbors property line. I guess I could use his last names initial which would also be a " M " Thank You for the suggestion. John

  • I bought a automobile horn at NAPA and mounted it under the wood decking just behind the headlight. I do use the horn when I have visitors over to take a ride. The lush who lives behind me started a petition to make me remove my railroad display about 8 years ago and she was the only one who signed it. Like they say " every neighborhood has a jerk " I blow that horn X-TRA long and LOUD just for her. " In case she's driving by my house buzzed she'll hear me loud and clear " LOL !

  • @Steam501 You should be commended for what you did. That is awesome!

  • lol, if u get a horn, remember to annoy the neighbors! :D

  • Very impressive John!

I agree with indycar101, your granddad would be proud!!

Your going to have to see if you could get permission to run that gas cart on a shortline. I bet it would be a lot of fun!

  • Your (Shot) line is looking good, road bed looks good your rail car has came a long way since I was here last!

Your (Granddad) would be very proud!

  • Thanks John! That was pretty cool. Can't wait to see the other videos!

  • No, they state they wish I had a larger piece of property so I could make a complete loop of track. Every neighborhood kid thats ridden on it wants their parents to get them one.

  • OK, people have asked me to show a clip from the Operators Seat and here it is. More videos are forthcoming as I get used to this electronic camera stuff. This Lorry Car can move quick and stop fast. I'll be making more clips of my Backyard Railroad covering the signals, electrical circuits and general stuff. Thanks for watching.

  • do all of your naighbors yell at u for having that cart
