oh my god.. im trying to find bug-free food but i cannot find anything that doesnt have bugs in it!! :( i think im just gonna put an I.V. in my arm and get what my body needs to survive on through a tube!! this is rediculas!
@cole3454657 Farming Systems Trial at Rodale Institute. In 1999 during one of the worst droughts on record, yields of organic soybeans were 30 bushels/acre compared to only 16 bushels/acre from conventionally grown soybeans. "Our trial shows that improving the quality of the soil through organic practices can mean the difference between a harvest and hardship in times of drought" Jeff Moyer farm manager at Rodale Institute.
@captain150 A study published in the journal Renewable Agriculture and Food Systems, based on 293 yield comparisons of plant and animal foods, showed that organic agriculture has the potential to feed the entire human population based on the amount of agricultural land currently in use.
The problem is, people hate chemicals, no matter the purpose of them. Life saving chemical that cures all diseases? No, they'd rather take chances with bloob poisoning.
Don't know about you guys but i would rather have organics with bugs in it than contaminated bug spray crap on my food that causes many of the diseases and health problems present today. Also farmers like growing organic much more. organic was the way god intended it to be and humans are destroying it all for name of money.
99.9 percent of humans are total fucking wimps that whine about insects in food. the other poor 1 percent is stuck in famine while people on cloud nine whine about this bullshit. Just eat the damn bug, you freaks could use some protein anyway.
Hi! I agree with your organic explanation...in fact I just made a video about cheap organic clothing websites, if anyone is interested :o yay keep mother earth clean! :)
Organic food is the biggest con. You know who else used organic food? The middle ages. Pesticides have saved millions from famine and disease. Only in America can stuck up idiots think they are above this. FOOLS
@cwood4ever A study published in the journal Renewable Agriculture and Food Systems, based on 293 yield comparisons of plant and animal foods, showed that organic agriculture has the potential to feed the entire human population based on the amount of agricultural land currently in use.
Actually, farmers, even organic farmers, used pesticide, they just can't use synthetic pesticide, which was the better choice when DDT was used, but now they are using the pesticide which is far more harmful then what non-organic farmers use.
Omg! Bugs! I'm going to kill myself now. Seriously, people need to get over it. We would die with out bugs to pollinate out food. We would starve. Yes, be grateful that our planet ca still support life! Support organic, support life!
@pigeonlovebird How ironic. You think by supporting organic you support life, when in truth, your condemning 4 billion people to starve.
According to Nobel Peace prize winner and driver of the Green Revolution and the man who saved a billion people from starvation, states that with organic farming we can only feed 2 billion people. Too bad there are about 8 billion people in the world. So tell, supporter of life, which 4 billion should starve?
@Tommy9834 Borlaug was a fucking BAMF. He's a fucking hero. I first learned of him from the show BULLSHIT, sad that the news ignored his death. Isn't that pathetic? A man saves half the entire human race, gets no recognition.
@Tommy9834 A study published in the journal Renewable Agriculture and Food Systems, based on 293 yield comparisons of plant and animal foods, showed that organic agriculture has the potential to feed the entire human population based on the amount of agricultural land currently in use.
the human body is meant to process things like bugs. we are just used to processed foods. but bugs are a legitimate source of protein...one note of caution tho. if you are allergic to shellfish then you cannot eat scorpions either. or worms.
People were much healthier when they didn't get grossed out by little insects found on their food. It is indeed a sign of vitality within the vegetation. People nowadays have gotten used to too much luxury. In older times, or even in the country sides and undevelopped countries, people eat when they are hungry and they get hungry by moving enough. Bigger apetite, less regard for insects grossing you out, and that's the way everybody should be living in order to have optimal health and well-being
@LionEntity Life expectancy is higher today than it ever has been in history. And look at charts of countries with the highest life expectancies; they are wealthy, industrial countries.
Starvation has been going down for decades. As a percentage of the world population, there are fewer starving people around than at any time in the 20th century.
We owe these changes to modern farming techniques that maximize crop yields.
Most reasons everyone has sited for feeling better with going organic is their diet change. Of course if you stop eating chicken Mc Nuggets and get a salad you will feel better.
funny I switched over to Organic about 8 months ago, including greens, and I have NOT EVER come accross a single insect or part of insect. They do spoil faster, which is a pain especially when you are paying extra for it, but I have noticed a difference. Not just with taste, but with how I feel. I spent over one year switching over to replacing the majority of my carb intake with salads, and noticed very little difference in health and was about to quit. After trying organic I never want to quit
@shadowwbn - funny I switched over to Organic about 8 months ago, including greens, and I have NOT EVER come accross a single insect or part of insect.
That is because your "Organic" produce is still sprayed with synthetic chemicals.
It's not that the food is grown organically, it is just that it is grown in the prescribed method for produce bearing the USDAs 'Organic' label.
I hate to break it to you, but it is much the same as non-'Organic'
@CouldNotCareLes I doubt that, they still have all of the signs of natural decay and habitat scars. Meaning not every single part is text book perfect and it spoils faster than non-organic which is why I bought that foodsaver that removes all the air from the container. Also the habitat scars are areas of the produce that was eaten away by some sort of insect. Plus the amount of residue left over whenever I do my blanching for veg. drinks after boiling off the water is like only 5% of inorganic
@CouldNotCareLes Oh, I think I just realized why I dont have that problem. In your area, is organic produce a big thing or small thing? In the area I live there is only a small selection of organic produce which can only be found in special grocery stores. So they obviously do not handle the amount of produce grown in your area which means they have more oversight and will have ALOT more quality control because they have such low numbers of dedicated customers they dont want to freak us out.
my mom has organic lemons, cactus, and that fruit with little red dots(prepagan?) in our backyard. i luv it and i believe people tell that you that theirs no scientific fact about poison hurting you only so they can make money and grow food easier.i just know i hate poison.even if people say theirs no difference in organic food
Actually Organic farmers do use chemicals, everything is a chemical. But the chemicals are actually more harmful than the synthetic pesticides and fertilizers because of technological advancement.
@sincityfire Synthetic pesticides are NOT generally safer. Half of both natural and synthetic pesticides are carcinogens and there is an equally long list of health problems for both. However, organic food generally has significantly less pesticide residue because organic uses significantly less pesticides(in many cases no pesticide is used for organic) and more biological pest control like crop rotation, crop cover, predatory insects etc. than conventional."
@myndy86 ORGANIC is mostly advertising label. Pesticides and fertilizers are still used as long as the pesticides are rated "Organic." And then, think is who is selling these titles and how much money they have.
@DiscoDude82 "reviews of multiple studies show that organic varieties do provide significantly greater levels of vitamin C, iron, magnesium, and phosphorus than non-organic varieties of the same foods. @DiscoDude82 Are all those studies suggesting organic is healthier/ has more nutrients an advertising label as well? 52% of organic farmers don't use any pesticides, most studies suggest organic has significantly less pesticide residue than conventional. "organic produce carries significantly fewer pesticide residues than conventional produce." nal.usda.gov/afsic/pubs/faq/BuyOrganicFoodsC.shtml Organic fed children have less pesticides in urine. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1367841/
give me a break...I am all for permaculture but sorry bugs are not welcome, desired or acceptable in a high priced food joint. Conventional agriculture can do the same, grow stuff with bugs and no chemical pesticides....for less
Mefune is obviously angry because misinformation is being devoured by the general public. They are being mislead, and on top of that being told that the planet would be a better place if everyone ate organic foods. What organic growers are not telling the public is everything in his/her post, on top of the fact that organic growing techniques take up much more space than conventional methods. It also stifles science and progress, so organic growers need to stop being retarded. END
@hopesolofan18 Cuz I'm a good guy spreading the truth. That's why. My point about organic food is that most people dont look into this fully. Sure they do some moderate looking around, but that's it. They simply give into the hype of "this is just like me growing produce in my back yard" and that is incorrect. VERY incorrect. Natural pesticides are harmful. Taste has NOTHING to do with organic, its about timing and nutrients. Again, dont believe me? REALLY look into it for yourself and see.
@MefuneAkira oh man, this is why I am very weary of this organic crap..i have been buying organic products here and there but what you said makes sense..besides, we're all gonna die anyway, might as well enjoy life..lol
@MefuneAkira USDA website"on average organic foods contain slightly higher levels of trace minerals, vitamin c and antioxidant phytonutrients than conventionally grown crops." "Organic meat products have been shown to reduce risk for potential prion-related diseases including mad cow disease and to arsenic residues in chicken meat, and organic livestock practices do not contribute to the growing phenomenon of drug resistant pathogens." nal.usda.gov/afsic/pubs/faq/BuyOrganicFoodsB.shtml
@MefuneAkira The ACS never said that!! Lois Gold said in the journal Science"One cup of coffee contains 10 miligrams of known (natural) rodent carcinogens, about equivalent in weight to the potentially carcinogenic synthetic pesticide residues one eats in a year." Its NOT more, not a human carcinogen, and studies suggest coffee actually reduces your risk of several types of cancer. Show me studies that pesticides reduce risk of cancer? Coffee has much more anti-carcinogens than carcinogens.
Healthier ? better taste ? Bulsssshiiittt ! There's no facts about healthier or better taste ! Dont care about my english becouse im just 14 years old finn !
btw ..organic foods means that they r actually grown not processed....so u keep eating all your shitty un organic foods ...and live long healthy life...but dont pretend u know what u r talking about because u choose not to see reality
people r grossed out cz theyr not used 2 eating such food, but atleast theyr trying which is a good sign, i wish this awareness spreads throughout the world as quickly as possible
All you organic food lemmings just keep on eating your 'organically grown' overpriced Chiquita bananas and pretending that they are different from other bananas that are mass-produced. Meanwhile, Chiquita is laughing all the way to the bank. Lesson learned: if you want organically grown food, move out of your suburban neighborhoods with your nice bicycle paths and into the country and by a freaking farm.
Organic food: quick blast of cold water cleans off any dirt and bugs. No problem.
Pesticide food: Hard or imposible to remove toxic residue.
Avoiding infection rather than relying on the immune system: WEAKENS immune system. We're SUPPOSED to be exposed to bacteria and we get ILL when we're not.
GMO is food slavery. We need heritage varieties and organic methods for any positive future.
Please show me wheree you've heard this, and tell me why you would like to render every poor country defenceless against your idiotic, misinformed ways of life. Organic food demands more from the farmers, it can be ruined by insects and from a "bad season" and it gives us less food. Organic food should be banned!
Most insects on farms are heatlhy such as Gardener Snakes and Spiders (I know a snake isn't a bug.) Because they eat away of all the killer insects. That's why Farmers invitel adybugs and garden spiders in their barn because it eats away of bad chemicals and insects. "Bad season?" There is no such thing as a bad season unless your in a BAD place. Such as Anarctica or mainland of Greenland. Dumbass.
pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and all the other shit that's sprayed on the plants and soils, is making us sick and quite honestly the government doesn't care. These chemicals can kill up to 85% of the nutrients in the soil that supply plants their nutritious values. Organic WTF
I will pay more because I'm not just thinking about my pocket book.
everything that is believed about organic food is a lie!!!!...it does not contain more vitemins its more likely to have more diseases in it because its made with cow shit and not conventional fertilizer, most organic farmers DO use poisens during the growing process, if we relied souly on organic over 3 billion people will die before enough is grown, and the only thing you are paying for is the lies that the media tells you about organic foods
quit re-iterating what the media propaganda fills your head with and follow independent research rather than relying on media bullshit which receives subsidies and support from monsanto. The government does not give two shits about you, so do your own research, or get your ass some toxicity driven disease.
hahaha the gov and the media?...i could care two shits about the government, they're the whole reason why people spend all of their hard earned money on food thats the same as any other and the media is controled by the government so they are just as useless all the same..and i do do my own research i live in large farming area and i have been to nearly 8 organic farms for my independent studies and found more than half reflect what i said in my previous comment. thank you and have a nice day.
Sure, so let's eat the poison monsanto has to offer, regardless of how many lab animals die from their bullshit. We've, as a species, ate from cow shit for thousands of years, don't ya think our immune system figured out a way to deal with it? As for your poisons, you'd have to give a few examples here. The facts remain that more people are infected from GMO than organic. Just see for yourself how monsanto researches are a joke, especially when it comes to soy.
you say you did your research, so show me the evidence that the substances used are in any way harmeful to humans?(consider improper use)...as to your organic foods that have no way to keep insects and bacteria from contaminating the food, and spreading disease..its all in the mind, people think they're doing their bodies good by eating organic because its a psychological effect, not biological
Bugs are a great source of nutrients. And i won't do the research for you. What i will say is that the FDA is corrupt. And i pointed out a lot of key words up there that you can look up and try to debunk. Our race has for millions of years ate and evolved with a certain set of foods that our bodies actually know what to do with. Now compare that to processed foods , GMO's and wheat products and certain other previously unexistent products. You'll realize most of them are a burden to our diet.
so your saying insects and bacteria born diseases have not evolved?...pretty much anything in this day an age is harmful to us, the small and harmless mosquito can kill a group of people, what is to say a fly that lands on my tomato doesn't carry a deadly disease?..i dont know about you but i would like to prevent any kind of disease from entering my system
Most of the time people die from malnutrition. When a bacteria or a virus gets a hold of your body in many cases the infection itself is due to a missing component in your natural defense mechanism. You can't really stop them from getting in; besides, we have E-Coli bacteria in our gut. Bacterias live in symbiosis with your body, demonizing bacterias will only lead one to a worse off state of health This whole cleanliness thing is really harmful on certain levels.
Also, it is well known that evolving bacterias or diseases have a MUCH greater chance to evolve into something less harmful than into something harmful. Ahh Nature... It's ingenius. It's all about balance really.
the key word is CHANCE...anything thats bad should never have a chance of happening...i have been eating processed food my entire life, i have never been sick a day in my life except for chicken pox, and extremly athletic, so i'm basically liveing proof that it has no adverse effects on your body...i respect your food choices, i just cant seem to see the logic in it
Chance is about statistics. It reflects reality, not the other way around. Rates of cancer keep increasing, rates of autism increases weekly, and was inexistant a few decades ago. This whole issue may not affect you much, because the body has multiple ways to remove a threat but it doesn't mean it can't go wrong one day. There is only so much calories can do, the rest is about upkeep and healing. I respect your opinion, because i used to think that way myself ...
... My beef isn't about GMO's, honestly, i think i can be done. My beef is with the government which i have studied for countless hours and am now convinced all the evils they pull is connected to something bigger than we as people can't even imagine. These people are twisted and sick and beleive in absurb sun worshipping and beleive the ends justify the means. To back up this crazy claim i'm making, you might want to look up "crowd Psychology and manipulation" It's a scratch on the big ...
...picture, but it might awaken a different view of the world in you that you never thought possible in a world-wide grand scale. You have to remember in those days, there was no real way for one individual to inform themselves, we were limited to what info we were given by our government, we didn't have the internet. The real history of the world is amazingly different than what we have thought it to be. That's all i have to say. Your choice is your own, i am just trying to trigger caution.
Ever heard of Barn and gardening animals. Ever head of washing your fucking food before you use it.
Okay, want evidence? They remove more of the fibre and nutrients to add fats, sugars and salts to make more flavour. Why do you think this world is so obese!
Another: You can't get E-Coli from organic foods.
Another: Contamining organic food is impossible unless some dumbass came with a ropduster and sprayed chemicals on it. Disease? Get out of your hole dickhead.
If the entire world used organic food, we would need to chop down every rain forest in the world to make more farm land. And we would still not produce enough food to feed 1/3 of the earths population. 2 billion people will starve. Genetically Modified food, is cheaper and less harmful to the environment than organic food. It is Anti-technology liberals like you who spread irrational fears of benign chemicals. Millions of people have already died, because of your fear of DDT and GE food.
There is something called Hydroponic and you can build skyscrapers 100 stories high that have a farm of food on each level, and have it all harvested by solar energy.. Any Questions? People aren't informed to the latest state of technology so they listen to what the news(Corporate propoganda) they believe what ever it tells them..
No one uses Genetically modified foods dork. It's called PROCESSED food. Which means it's more processed and chemicalized. Those chemicals are bad dude. Pesticides, Herbicides and Chemical fertiziliers (Not Manure Fertilizers) are more harmful.
"Organic" food is unsanitary. Period, and very inefficient to produce. Alot of people die of food intoxication because of untreated food. They think that having flies, worms and bacteria means it is fresh, wow what a joke. Pure ignorance.
And go ahead and eat food contaminated with cow shit :P Our bodies developed an immune system to deal with hazards but it is far from invincible and it's the last defense, avoidance comes first, that is why before the industrial revolution the life expectancy was about 25. Your body also developed a brain that is more powerful than any immune system, so use it!
I strongly suggest you take away your position on this and inform yourself about what is truly going on behind the scenes with GMO foods before taking a position, this isn't about Old vs New, this is about monopoly, forced by government, with no competition. You can't ask me to trust a company that has so much power , to falsify their own researchers, silence them, to release their foods. This company is monsanto. I'd rather eat food out of shit, than out of monopolized business.
Umm dude. Cow Manure is not used for non-organic. Cow manure is actually one of the world's healthiest soil revivers on the planet. Organic farms use the nature around them such as Cow manure while Processed use chemicals.
Ppl won't eat food because they find a worm in it o.0? Wtf you think is going into your stomach when you eat a pork roast?? Worms are high in protein anyway. It is natural, we aren't some Alien specie that descended from the sky. Why unadultered food provides optimum nutrition for every other creature on the planet yet humans need toxic chemicals that fuck up the environment? If I wanna get high ill eat a mushroom not DDT. PS. Milk once Pasteurized has very little if any beneficial enzymes.
CHEMRISK - a research company hired by the Corn Refiners Association has recently taken down it's YouTube channel.
The removal was in response to negative public perception resulting from the discovery of dangerous levels of MERCURY in HIGH-FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP. Apparently it has become a liability to defend the sweetener.
See one of the last remaining ChemRisk videos at CornRefinersAssoc on YouTube.
i wouldnt bother wasting your time with amint, he is clueless and seems to spend his time trawling through organic websites like some sort of organic perv,
he doesnt understand what he is saying he just likes to think he does!!! a1mint dont reply coz we both know it is 100 percent true! ur a twat! :)
I make perfectly good points, and all snots like you can do is toss out childish insults. Instead of taking my points and discuss it, offer information, you condemn, and use insults. Well, fuck you for that.
I you wish to discuss the points again, fine, but don't bother with messages that only just insult. It makes you look very stupid.
@wrjamescom Yes, their lifespan was 40 years but don't forget that our ancestors didn't have the advantage of modern antibiotics to fight infections from a simple cut to a finger that would lead to a certain death. Here's another thought...if bugs die from eating genetically modified crops, why should people eat it?
@MegaTmarshall If dogs die from eating chocolate, why should we eat it? We are not bugs. What kills them is sometimes harmless to us and vice versa. I'm not in favor of GM crops. Some are obviously harmless, but I think others are a potential treat on a massive scale. But I think Monsanto's abuse of the patent system is a far bigger threat than their genetic modifications. If we fixed that, the GM issue would be much less a problem as well.
@wrjamescom I have mixed feelings about GM crops. I can understand why it would be beneficial to have a potato that's resistant against blight.
What I have a problem with is GM crops made to be able to survive chemicals. Roundup and other chemicals. Those chemicals go into the vegetables and thus one can not wash it off. We're exposed to these chemicals all the time.
@wrjamescom The patent systems are nuts! They pass anything that passes their desks. Various perpetual motion machine patents passed even. You should see the mine field that's out there for software patents - completely violating the freedom of speech by the way.
It's almost so bad, that it is better to engineer and manufacture completely abroad and then import it into the US, while obscuring and hiding the inventions inside.
@a1mint It was intended as a system to protect people's right to profit from their own creativity. But it's been hijacked by lawyers who rig the system for their benefit and no one else's. It's what we get for voting for lawyers.
@victshot they used water. genius. and people starved left and right because if the weather was bad, they starved, flooding, they starved, drought, they starved, and sometimes they just couldnt grow enough so they starved
They use a variety of chemicals. They're poisons that kill bugs and other living organisms. They genetically modify the vegetables to make them able to survive the chemicals without them dying off. This means that they then can systematically kill everything except the vegetable. The problem is that these chemicals remain on and inside the vegetables. You are in fact eating poison when you eat normal vegetables. Noone knows the long term effects.
no one knows the long term effects? well they have been using them for the last 60 years and people are living longer than ever, dont be so ignorant to the way your food is grown.
Oops, sorry for the overboard response. Understand that youtube is literally littered with all sorts of strange aggressive extremists, prejudice a-holes, politically insane weirdos, and all the rest of it. I've been feeling that I've been fighting an uphill battle. I must have not cooled off after handling some other sensitive issues.
Let's try this again. I'm concerned about how chemicals are depleting soil and end in our food causing illnesses.
depleting soil in what way? whats the evidence there? y are crops yielding so well? the land is in the best condition its ever been. you need to be out on the land working and growing crops to grasp a real understanding, theres too much scaremongering going on,the eu has nearly banned every chemical in uk farming, alcohol would be deemed more dangerous than anything ever put onto crops because of carcengenic properties, chemicals are more rigerously tested than medicine.
Actually no, soil is known to suffer all kinds of depletion when using chemicals. Many places lost all kinds of agriculturally rich land. China for instance, they lost a high percentage of usable land due to pesticide use.
It has nothing to do with "scare mongering". It's a fact and the evidence is very easy to find. Would you like me to look it up for you, or can you use the internet on your own?
So anyone claiming anything about pesticides, global warming, anything environment, are just a bunch of loony crazy liars that believe in fairy tales then?
Sure there is. There are (expensive) ways to detect chemicals in the beets.
Another problem is the soil depletion. Soil depletion is a world wide problem. Vegetables have been losing their nutritional value because of it. It's really quite scary. You don't have to believe me. Some people oversimplify, and look at a random field with growing crops, and go, "oh that field looks like a fine bunch of healthy crops" and then dismiss anyone saying anything about soil, chemicals. Stupid.
Denmark for one, detected roundup glysophate in the ground water at unacceptable levels. The response was to eliminate the use of that product completely. Obviously they were able to detect it. Anything is detectable, at a cost.
If you can detect roundup in water then you can detect it in food as well. It isn't just roundup and Monsanto makes different kinds. There is Glysophate but it's often mixed with other chemicals as well, and there is a byproduct in the manufacturing of it as well.
All in all, the planet is getting fucked up because of an excess in chemical use and soil depletion. Look it up, don't actually sit there and tell me I'm wrong - l o o k i t u p.
oh my god.. im trying to find bug-free food but i cannot find anything that doesnt have bugs in it!!

Don't know about you guys but i would rather have organics with bugs in it than contaminated bug spray crap on my food that causes many of the diseases and health problems present today. Also farmers like growing organic much more. organic was the way god intended it to be and humans are destroying it all for name of money.

Actually, farmers, even organic farmers, used pesticide, they just can't use synthetic pesticide, which was the better choice when DDT was used, but now they are using the pesticide which is far more harmful then what non-organic farmers use.

So tell, supporter of life, which 4 billion should starve?

the human body is meant to process things like bugs. we are just used to processed foods. but bugs are a legitimate source of protein...one note of caution tho. if you are allergic to shellfish then you cannot eat scorpions either.

Bigger apetite, less regard for insects grossing you out, and that's the way everybody should be living in order to have optimal health and well-being
LionEntity 1 year ago 8
@LionEntity Life expectancy is higher today than it ever has been in history. And look at charts of countries with the highest life expectancies; they are wealthy, industrial countries.
Starvation has been going down for decades. As a percentage of the world population, there are fewer starving people around than at any time in the 20th century.
We owe these changes to modern farming techniques that maximize crop yields.

funny I switched over to Organic about 8 months ago, including greens, and I have NOT EVER come accross a single insect or part of insect.

Les
CouldNotCareLes 1 year ago
@CouldNotCareLes I doubt that, they still have all of the signs of natural decay and habitat scars. Meaning not every single part is text book perfect and it spoils faster than non-organic which is why I bought that foodsaver that removes all the air from the container. Also the habitat scars are areas of the produce that was eaten away by some sort of insect. Plus the amount of residue left over whenever I do my blanching for veg. drinks after boiling off the water is like only 5% of inorganic
shadowwbn 1 year ago
@CouldNotCareLes Oh, I think I just realized why I dont have that problem. In your area, is organic produce a big thing or small thing? In the area I live there is only a small selection of organic produce which can only be found in special grocery stores. So they obviously do not handle the amount of produce grown in your area which means they have more oversight and will have ALOT more quality control because they have such low numbers of dedicated customers they dont want to freak us out.

Actually Organic farmers do use chemicals, everything is a chemical. But the chemicals are actually more harmful than the synthetic pesticides and fertilizers because of technological advancement.
sincityfire 1 year ago
@sincityfire Synthetic pesticides are NOT generally safer. Half of both natural and synthetic pesticides are carcinogens and there is an equally long list of health problems for both. However, organic food generally has significantly less pesticide residue because organic uses significantly less pesticides(in many cases no pesticide is used for organic) and more biological pest control like crop rotation, crop cover, predatory insects etc. than conventional."

@MefuneAkira The ACS never said that!! Lois Gold said in the journal Science"One cup of coffee contains 10 miligrams of known (natural) rodent carcinogens, about equivalent in weight to the potentially carcinogenic synthetic pesticide residues one eats in a year." Coffee has much more anti-carcinogens than carcinogens.

First, bugs ≠ bad.
We need heritage varieties and organic methods for any positive future.
thirteenfingers 2 years ago 2
A small-scale method I use (organic, simple, labour-efficient) can easilly grow a person's annual veg needs in 60 square feet.
It would be possible to grow veg for the planet's human population in less than 10,000,000 acres. West Virigina alone is 15,000,000 acres.
That way, Maine could produce more than DOUBLE the world's veg needs.
There's PLENTY of room. That's a weak argument for GMO and chemical farming.
Move to small-scale organic methods = problem solved.

We've, as a species, ate from cow shit for thousands of years, don't ya think our immune system figured out a way to deal with it? As for your poisons, you'd have to give a few examples here. you say you did your research, so show me the evidence that the substances used are in any way harmeful to humans?(consider improper use)...as to your organic foods that have no way to keep insects and bacteria from contaminating the food, and spreading disease..its all in the mind, people think they're doing their bodies good by eating organic because its a psychological effect, not biological
msb314 2 years ago
Bugs are a great source of nutrients. And i won't do the research for you. What i will say is that the FDA is corrupt. And i pointed out a lot of key words up there that you can look up and try to debunk. Our race has for millions of years ate and evolved with a certain set of foods that our bodies actually know what to do with. Now compare that to processed foods , GMO's and wheat products and certain other previously unexistent products. You'll realize most of them are a burden to our diet.
ExquisiteDoom 2 years ago
so your saying insects and bacteria born diseases have not evolved?...pretty much anything in this day an age is harmful to us, the small and harmless mosquito can kill a group of people, what is to say a fly that lands on my tomato doesn't carry a deadly disease?..i dont know about you but i would like to prevent any kind of disease from entering my system
msb314 2 years ago
Most of the time people die from malnutrition. When a bacteria or a virus gets a hold of your body in many cases the infection itself is due to a missing component in your natural defense mechanism. You can't really stop them from getting in; besides, we have E-Coli bacteria in our gut. Bacterias live in symbiosis with your body, demonizing bacterias will only lead one to a worse off state of health This whole cleanliness thing is really harmful on certain levels.
ExquisiteDoom 2 years ago
I agree they take the cleaniness shit too far. But hygiene is an important part of life.

msb314 2 years ago
Chance is about statistics. It reflects reality, not the other way around. Rates of cancer keep increasing, rates of autism increases weekly, and was inexistant a few decades ago. This whole issue may not affect you much, because the body has multiple ways to remove a threat but it doesn't mean it can't go wrong one day. There is only so much calories can do, the rest is about upkeep and healing. I respect your opinion, because i used to think that way myself ...

I make perfectly good points, and all snots like you can do is toss out childish insults. Instead of taking my points and discuss it, offer information, you condemn, and use insults. Well, fuck you for that.
I you wish to discuss the points again, fine, but don't bother with messages that only just insult. It makes you look very stupid.
a1mint 2 years ago
you do not have the knowledge of what you want to discuss so no thanks., you brought me back to the argument by saying "fuck you" incase you forgot!!

perhaps

You're dumb as fuck my friend. None of our ancestors used chemicals in their food. Everything was natural, as it was made.

@victshot And their lifespan was 40 years if they were lucky.
wrjamescom 11 months ago 2
@wrjamescom Yes, their lifespan was 40 years but don't forget that our ancestors didn't have the advantage of modern antibiotics to fight infections from a simple cut to a finger that would lead to a certain death. Here's another thought...if bugs die from eating genetically modified crops, why should people eat it?
MegaTmarshall 10 months ago
@MegaTmarshall If dogs die from eating chocolate, why should we eat it? We are not bugs. What kills them is sometimes harmless to us and vice versa. I'm not in favor of GM crops. Some are obviously harmless, but I think others are a potential treat on a massive scale. But I think Monsanto's abuse of the patent system is a far bigger threat than their genetic modifications. If we fixed that, the GM issue would be much less a problem as well.
wrjamescom 10 months ago
@wrjamescom I have mixed feelings about GM crops. I can understand why it would be beneficial to have a potato that's resistant against blight.
What I have a problem with is GM crops made to be able to survive chemicals. Roundup and other chemicals. Those chemicals go into the vegetables and thus one can not wash it off. We're exposed to these chemicals all the time.
a1mint 10 months ago
@wrjamescom The patent systems are nuts! They pass anything that passes their desks. Various perpetual motion machine patents passed even. You should see the mine field that's out there for software patents - completely violating the freedom of speech by the way.
It's almost so bad, that it is better to engineer and manufacture completely abroad and then import it into the US, while obscuring and hiding the inventions inside.
a1mint 10 months ago
@a1mint It was intended as a system to protect people's right to profit from their own creativity. But it's been hijacked by lawyers who rig the system for their benefit and no one else's. It's what we get for voting for lawyers.
wrjamescom 10 months ago
@victshot they used water. genius. and people starved left and right because if the weather was bad, they starved, flooding, they starved, drought, they starved, and sometimes they just couldnt grow enough so they starved

Nature's pesticides. More protein in salad and insects than cooked meat (think about the term cooked, and what it means).

Should we eat chemicals or bugs. Your choice.
redvexx 3 years ago
Neither. Bugs you can wash off, chemicals you can't, at least not the ones inside the vegetables.
a1mint 3 years ago 2
Do you know anything about how chemicals work
asdfghjkl2574654 3 years ago
They use a variety of chemicals. They're poisons that kill bugs and other living organisms. They genetically modify the vegetables to make them able to survive the chemicals without them dying off. This means that they then can systematically kill everything except the vegetable. The problem is that these chemicals remain on and inside the vegetables. You are in fact eating poison when you eat normal vegetables. Noone knows the long term effects.
a1mint 3 years ago
no one knows the long term effects? well they have been using them for the last 60 years and people are living longer than ever, dont be so ignorant to the way your food is grown.
b22uk 3 years ago
No they have not been using them for the last 60 years. And cancer rates are higher than before. It's very frustrating.
You are the ignorant one, you fucking piece of shit of an idiot. Fuck you !
a1mint 3 years ago
well okay then! what a nobhead!!

I'm concerned about how chemicals are depleting soil and end in our food causing illnesses.
a1mint 3 years ago
depleting soil in what way? whats the evidence there? y are crops yielding so well? the land is in the best condition its ever been. you need to be out on the land working and growing crops to grasp a real understanding, theres too much scaremongering going on,the eu has nearly banned every chemical in uk farming, alcohol would be deemed more dangerous than anything ever put onto crops because of carcengenic properties, chemicals are more rigerously tested than medicine.
b22uk 3 years ago
Actually no, soil is known to suffer all kinds of depletion when using chemicals. Many places lost all kinds of agriculturally rich land. China for instance, they lost a high percentage of usable land due to pesticide use.
It has nothing to do with "scare mongering". It's a fact and the evidence is very easy to find. Would you like me to look it up for you, or can you use the internet on your own?
a1mint 3 years ago
no thanks i try to be my own conceince and not grab all my beliefs from organic websites,
maybe the whole world aint out to get you?
little knowledge is dangerous.
cheers, thats me done with this.!

So anyone claiming anything about pesticides, global warming, anything environment, are just a bunch of loony crazy liars that believe in fairy tales then?
a1mint 3 years ago
The earth is warming up, but not so much from human activity..
Explain the past few ice ages the earth has seen.. BUT! i do agree with pesticides, look at all the illnesses now days.

Ok. Go to google and search for:

But no medicine can cure shit, WE CAN'T CURE A COLD. haha some people are just unteachable

b22uk 3 years ago
in sugar beets that are sble to be sprayed with roundup. There is no scientific test to prove the beets any different
asdfghjkl2574654 3 years ago
Sure there is. There are (expensive) ways to detect chemicals in the beets.
Another problem is the soil depletion. Soil depletion is a world wide problem. Vegetables have been losing their nutritional value because of it. It's really quite scary. You don't have to believe me. Some people oversimplify, and look at a random field with growing crops, and go, "oh that field looks like a fine bunch of healthy crops" and then dismiss anyone saying anything about soil, chemicals. Stupid.
a1mint 3 years ago
To detect chemicals yes Roundup and some other weed killers no
asdfghjkl2574654 3 years ago
Roundup can be detected. Where do people get the crap from you make up anyway?
a1mint 3 years ago
Tell me how
asdfghjkl2574654 3 years ago
Denmark for one, detected roundup glysophate in the ground water at unacceptable levels. The response was to eliminate the use of that product completely. Obviously they were able to detect it. Anything is detectable, at a cost.
a1mint 3 years ago
They were able to detect roundup in water not in the food
asdfghjkl2574654 3 years ago
If you can detect roundup in water then you can detect it in food as well. It isn't just roundup and Monsanto makes different kinds. There is Glysophate but it's often mixed with other chemicals as well, and there is a byproduct in the manufacturing of it as well.
All in all, the planet is getting fucked up because of an excess in chemical use and soil depletion. Look it up, don't actually sit there and tell me I'm wrong - l o o k i t u p.
