So then why was there an Iraq War at all? The oil industry would have a much easier time making money by NOT attacking Iraq but rather pushing the government into deals with Saddam. That way there'd be no risk to the oil fields. The fact is the US government doesn't own the media.

The oil is being paid for right now. If oil was the only motivation for war, there'd have been no war because it would have been much easier to get oil the same way the French and Germans were getting it (ie through Saddam deals). That way there'd have been no risk to the oil fields.
