It's sad how the beautiful greatness of this city was lost in the sands of time. Imagine the great architecture, the mosques, walls and palaces of this great city trashed and destroyed, never to be seen again. Once, Islam was the jewel of the world. That day could always cone again.

I was a soldier During the 1991 Iraq war, the city was not involved don't mis educate it makes the rest of the claims seem illegitimate. The Coalition forces stoped short of The Cities and only fought Iraqi army in the surrounding desert. operations stoped and the Iraqis surrendered and where allowed to keep their remaining armour army. we should have occupyed tehn but we did not the main reason for war was suddams attack on Kuwait and its liberation for Iraqi Forces.

Thanks this is a good history video. I just wanted to point out a mistake in the beginning: the word Baghdad as it says it is of an Aramic word it is Achami. Which is bakhi Dad. Meaning the Garden of Justice in Kurdish and Persian. It was Kisra's winter palace. As you note that Karikh is the original village which was a SASANI village. SASANI's are not Aramic they are Kurds (Achami) or Median origin. Thanks

It's amazing how history repeats itself. Iraq remains the battlefield now for the US, Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Syria and god knows who else.

And that "sectarian crap" is no news to us (Iraqis).

I have the feeling we are a country never meant for it to be politically settled. But facts remain that we LOVE this native country of ours.

What did the Turks, Iranians and Mongolians think Baghdad was, their Battlefield or something????? Envious bastards. They should never be trusted.

The Iraqi people must learn from this history lesson and stop fighting among themselves. If Iran or Turkey has a chance to reconquer Iraq, they would in a blink of an eye.
