Suction does move the intake valve. The engine fires which increases the engines speed. Once the engine reaches a cerain speed the exaust valve is locked open allowing the piston to move with out compression and without intake. Once the engine speed slows down the exaust valve is released and the engine runs normally until it speeds up again.

neat engine. im new to the antique engines, but i am facinated by any thing that is mechanicle. what moves the intake valve, suction maby????
