this engine has never fired, so you need #1 @TDC. on a previously running engine the roter don't need to be placed pointed towards #1 unless the distributer has been completly taken out.
Aren't the wires installed in the wrong firing order? If the rotor rotates clock wise the wires should be wired starting from 1 going clockwise 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.
@but199018 the whole point to this dist. cap ...you missed it...watch the video again..they rerout the cap internally to allow the wires to not intersect/cross and make the cleaner look....you want difftcult check out a vertex magneto crab style cap
I have a 350 5.7 TPI in an'89 Trans Am. Would I use this same order on there as well? I got this order from Advanced Auto. 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. Am I missing something?
The new cap might be rerouted inside just below the coil, that may explain the black epoxy, I think the stock firing order would still be the same. I believe if the rotor is pointing at say the #2 wire on the new cap, it's redirected to the #8 wire on the new cap from the inside...thank you for building this style cap! been wondering when the aftermarket was going to design it...
@fyrbird88 you got your firing order off and the cap is corrected internally and the correct firing order you listed is corrected in the black area inside the cap, so that it looks nicer when all the wires connect on the same side of the distributor. Just remember one is still one then the rest is simple if you have the distributor clocked right.

I'm currently working on an HEI Powerstroke conversion.
Hopefully I get the wires hooked up up rightly.

Please, Please do this for the Accel Dual Sync distributor. I hate how my wires are all crossed up.

You did the firing order wrong! its clockwise starting at #1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2... the way you have it is 1,2,4,6,8,3,5,7...
