I like your review style because you actually show us what you're talking about. Other reviewers of Blu Ray just show their head in front of a blank wall and they talk slow and boring. So you did a good job, more people should learn from you. How big of a screen is that HDTV btw?

That game looked confusing. Like do you get to like actually control if you hit him or not or is it just chance?

You select their action (speed attack, power attack, or defend) and then you just watch it happen. So yes, it is basically a game of chance...

But not totally. You can still choose which characters you bring with you. Different characters have different strengths, so you have to decide which ones are most likely to succeed in certain battles.

And it's kind of exciting to take a risk and pick something that is not likely to be successful...but occasionally it works! (Power Attack)

I always thought those dust jackets (over top of AnOther jacket) seemed a tad excessive in terms of overall packaging. At least they should publish a fewer amount as "collector packages", but with the chronic new editions market strategies lately, they likely hope we will all turn collector.

Sorry to rant. Good review! Game looks surprisingly complex, however the old formats still work magic for me what with all the VHS and vinyl still here, besides, IF I buy another, I want it to be the last.

As for the dust jacket, it doesn't make it anymore expensive, and if you don't like it you can always just throw it away, haha. But I like it because it keeps the case in good condition.

Actually, my concern was about the amount of packaging these days make for more trash. and it takes energy to recycle things as well, that's why the first R is "Reduce". I should have been clearer.

The big switch from analog to digital will take place in Feburary next year. HDTV prices are going have a big drop then.

Cool! I should get Blu-Ray next time I have a couple thousand to spend on an HDTV and a player. (Which would be the first time.)

I'm a freak. But for most people, the time to upgrade to Blu-Ray is a couple years away. Prices are dropping all the time. The first DVD player was over $600 but obviously it has come way down since then. Players are constantly getting better and cheaper.

I think that within 3 years, a BD player will be about the same price as DVD players today. At that point, BD will become the standard format over DVD.

I don't think Blu-Ray will become mainstream like DVD. It will probably be like laser discs were. Blu Ray may look better, but most people don't care about the difference in picture quality enough to fork out more money and buy all their movies over again (especially since the jump from DVD to Blu-Ray isn't near what the jump from VHS to DVD was, and a lot of people just switched from VHS to DVD within the last 5 years and are not ready to make the switch all over again so soon).

Here's the thing...the transition is not NEARLY as big this time because Blu-Ray players also play DVDs.

As for price... within a few years, a BD player will be about the same price as a DVD player. When that happens, what would be the point of buying a DVD player? They'll be the same price so of course people will choose BD. There will be no reason not to.

Are the loading times off putting for Blu Ray? I've heard some people complain about that...

I think loading times are pretty good for Blu-ray on the PS3. Certainly much faster than the first DVD player I bought nine years ago. :)

I have too. But I have a PS3, and the loading time is excellent. About the same as DVD, I would say. But on regular players, loading time can be an issue.

It's still fairly new technology and they're constantly finding ways to improve it.

That looks awesome! At first I didn't really care about the blu-ray disc, thinking, "Oh, high definition, big dif," but after seeing this, I can see how it is so superior to the DVD! Thanks a lot! Now I want to get a blu-ray player, but I'm too poor, darn it.
