  • Go to HELL the 16 dislike

  • SOME ONE PLEASE HELP ME i have the 1tb version and my pc wont dectect it i tryd going in to bios notin der either man im so pissed :(

  • @ExtremeEn3rgy ok this is a month ago comment. watch the new tech tip of linus. he explaines how to do it

  • Fantastic! Now we can lose 3TB of data at once!

  • @TheDJGabizz dont worry if you have Windows 7 you data wont lose. but if you did something on Windows 7, it will crash and lose the data.

  • i have a gigabyte p67a-ud7 , does it support this hard drive ?

  • "say-tuh"? Am I the only one who pronounces it "sat-uh"? >.>

  • I have the same hard drive which i bought at the start of this year.

  • @hertzman5 i used to work at a computer store here and the last time we ordered some hitachi hard drives (200), 92 came back from unhappy customers, most of them were doa or started to click after few days only, god nearly 50 % its awful and not acceptable at all, even maxtor were more reliable than those ''deathstar''...Of course you can blame the shipping companies instead of Hitachi for trowing boxes all around the places but why seasonic and WD works so great compared to them?

  • @xlegendqc87x Mmm....interesting to know that; all brands have certain % of failure, but 90% failure from an order is suspicious. I'd like to hear Linus's opinion on this.

  • @BlackHatchl I meant 50%, not 90

  • why don't hard drives have multiple independent read heads?

  • Got a question. Why is it that Green HDDs (such as the Green Segate Barracuda) is not recommended for use as a primary drive?

  • @matthewrs7 green drives mean lower power usage, lower spindle speed which result in lower speed and higher latency from the hard drive, ''green drives'' are usually 5200 rpm hard drives so search for 7200rpm for standard speed hard drives or 10 000 rpm for high performance hard drives.

  • good to know not all mother boards support 3 TB HDD's. Thanks for the tip Linus :)

  • here's a great tech tips: stay away from hitachi hard drives, they are horrible..

  • Asus P8Z68-V?

  • I really hate when one of the top comments is a reply to a comment I can't find.

  • @TheGreatDefective Agreed, and for some reason I MUST find the comment out of curiosity. I usually go to "See All" and then look for it with Ctrl + F.

  • DeskStar? More Like DeathStar, They Are Going To Make A Killing In The Data Restoration Market

  • i can save alot of porn video!

  • oh boy i cry cuz he unbox a hdd U_U i cant support that ;(

  • Hard drives will be dead. Solid State Drives are in.

  • Did he say Deathstar?

  • yh um except SATAIII is not taken adcantage of on ANY mechanical drive no matter how fast they are. that's SSD territory. manufacturers are just playing on consumers' stupidity.

  • @Crawlerz2468 so true.

  • Nice polo, bro.

  • at the end i thought you where gonna start rapping ...

  • CRIESSss

  • Edward Norton?

  • deja vu anyone?

  • Another hitachi 'death'star. I have replaced a lot of those drives because the motor of them failed.

  • Lol wow I still have 300 GB on my 500GB drive!!! How do you fill 3tb?? Maybe goid use for a server?

  • Who the hell would need a 3TB hard drive? I don't even have any practical use for my 2TB HDD.

  • @youngdones For tons and tons of tons of movies!

  • for more unboxing review and other computer videos...

  • 1:15 robot hand

  • Velociraptor kill Hitachi Deskstar

  • @Squallkpo

It's funny you should bring that up. The Velociraptor drives are as dead as a dinosaur these days. Barely faster than a 2TB 7200RPM, yet costs several times more per gigabyte. You'd be hard pressed to notice any difference in actual usage too. For the price of the 600GB Velociraptor, you can get a 120GB SSD for your main drive and a 2TB for storage. Performance wise, this rips apart the Velociraptor.

  • @GTRagnarok yes, i accept this, hitachi have 3 TB and 7200 RPM, is much.. But velociraptor have 10.000 RPM, but, I was talking about speed, not space or performance

  • Hitachi? It'll fail in less than 2 years.

  • incase yeah didnt no. One needs to have 64 bit windows installed to use drives over 2tb.

  • I got my 2tb for $80. This one is 3tb for $130. That's $50 more for 1tb. No thanks.

  • Has anyone ever told you that your voice makes watching your videos more interesting? Because it does.

  • the gigabyte x58a-ud7 motherboard, it supporting the 3 TB hard Drive?

  • I Like one!!!!!!

  • Unbagging? lol :D

  • Unboxing? Where's the box?

  • @ruelle41 Where does it say unboxing? nowhere.

  • @ruelle41 bagging

  • Is this the first 'Unbagging video'?

  • @ckitJake that is because there no box around it

  • it's better to have two 1.5TB

  • @SmallBoyzzz Please, do explain your reasoning.

  • @keithpetro in case if theres hard drive failure or crash, all your 3TB data will be gone/lost, i perfer getting dual 1.5tb because it may have faster loading time for each hard drive and have extra back up space.. thats what i think

  • @SmallBoyzzz I guess you could also put the two into RAID for data redundancy, but don't you just keep backups? Not to mention, what if you want 6TB or 9TB? It'd be much more efficient to get 3TB drives.

  • @keithpetro yes, if i want 10TB i would go for 3TB, but if just 3Tb i would want Dual 1.5TB thats what i meant.

1TB = dual 500gb or just go with Dual 1TB

  • @SmallBoyzzz you almost never see 1.5TB drives now. and no 2 1.5tb drives are not better 3tb is just higher density and at $130 from NCIX a 3tb drive is better value than a 1.5tb drive for $65.

  • @ubxp ohh, maybe i heard of 1.5TB before, it depends on your harddrive speed to compare 3TB with dual 1.5TB??

  • @SmallBoyzzz well for starters hard drives arnt about speed thats what SSDs are for and 2 1.5tb HDDs would be faster if in RAID 0 and then they have twice the chance to fail and for you to lose all your data at once

  • ITS TELLING ME TO NOT COVER THE HOLE

  • Hard Drive Unbagging lol

  • made in Thailand

  • Wow, the 7200rpm is down to $160, they were around $200 when I bought 2x 5K3000's back in early May for $140 each.

  • Doesnt Hitachi make bulldozers?

  • @AwesomeDude775 And sex toys.

    > ask your mom.

  • @iErxr Oohkay??????

  • Too nerdy for you?

  • I only buy WD drives, never anything more than 1TB. Green's for storage, black as a boot drive. I had a deskstar once, it died.

  • Nice shirt.

  • 1 year later.

Linus: "All right guys, welcome another unboxing of a Seagates new 10 TB harddrive, yes, that's TEN TERA. BYTES."

  • I wish it was safe to mod these. Mattle black would be perfect

  • Nice Router!

  • 'I needed one, so I got 4, yey!' - Linus Sebastion <3

  • wut? hitachi deathstar?

  • @seacuracao if it dies you die with it

btw 3tb of data is gone too;)

  • @MrVDawid yeaahah i dont like hitachi anymore :|

  • you should have worn a darth vader mask to unbag the deathstar

  • Hitachi hard drives are garbage...slowtachi

  • Oh joy, 3 terabytes of data sitting on a hitachi Deathstar.... no thanks.

1 terabyte drives have pushed the limits of the technology bad enough as it is

you'd be insane risking that much stuff on a Deathstar.

  • .mpg? lol

  • whT IS TYPE .MPG?

  • @Eragon86micky It's mpeg

  • Shitatchi

  • Wow 3TB sweet....

  • Comment removed

  • Hitachi Deathstar*

  • Phew, I thought it was a router for a second.

  • Hey look its a router!

  • I'm scared to buy any drive with a capacity this large

  • I learned that not all mobos support 3TB. This was informative. If you find it boring, you know what to do.

  • The Hitachi 3TB DeathStar

  • "unbagging" lawl that's what happens when someone gets shot in the back of the head while he's tea-bagging you on Battlefield

  • people always cry....people always want something different.....when he unbox/reviews apple products...people cry...when he unbox/review motherboards ....people cry....when he unbox/review GFX cards...people cry.......Linus, just do what you want, thats why your channel is so great

  • so if higher capacity makes drives faster, will a 1yottabyte hdd be as fast as an ssd? lol

  • since when are Hitachi reliable? i stay away from the "deathstar"

  • Unboxing.my packaged goods

  • horsedick.mpg

  • .mpg!

  • 2 hours and no name change lol.

  • .*mpg ... :(

  • I have seen a ad for the Javelin... Looks cool!

  • i have 6 tb of porn :/

    who said that again? :'D

  • wow 3tb anyone remember 48k spectrum ?

  • Did not know that drive density influences drive performance.. thanks Linus!

  • Thats a lot of porn!

  • @ImTheAsianGamer Still not enough for me

  • .mpg

  • Image how much porn i can store ...

  • WTF .mpg

  • I tough u gonna say at 1:08 Hard drives are physical movemen peace of shit!

  • Hitatchi suck balls

  • .mpg like a boss

  • Imagine how long it takes to defragment a 3 TB drive.

  • You need these for porn.

  • Didn't know that compatibility issue with 3TB drives...thanks. Hitachi HDDs are excellent, I've always used them and never a problem.

  • Now we can lose 3TB of data at a time, yay!

  • @AnotherNutJob Yep, 2TB drives have two advantages for data safety: 1) they are cheaper per-GB so you can afford to have RAID-6 instead of RAID-5 2) they are supported by all motherboards & RAID controllers (people are still using those? Linux's mdadm is soo much better than any hardware RAID).

  • @AnotherNutJob See that's what the green drives are for. So you don't lose your data ;)

  • @AnotherNutJob Then you need to backup. I'd run 4 of these in Raid 5 or something.

  • @AnotherNutJob you wana spend 10 grand on 3 ocz revodrives, go ahead buddy!!

  • @AnotherNutJob then buy 10 300gb drives then.

    durp

  • No "RAGE PROOF ?"

  • Didn't he show a bunch of cool stuff he was going to unbox in that Duke Nukem video?

He used to do a bunch of interesting unboxings a few months ago, all we have now are hard drives, routers and tablets ;s

  • IBM DeathStar :)

  • @varoskovic if your trying to make it sound like its a piece of crap you could say "dead star" :D

  • i just felt my 5th dejavu!!and WOW!!!

  • Why would you use mpg? Use mkv or mp4 with x264.

  • Are these reliable though? I have heard a lot of complaints about the 3TB HDDs.

  • Watch the Router Unboxing. Deja Vu Solved. FUCK YEAH.

  • Nah my first time watching this video.

  • Was there a Geiger counter clicking at the end :S

  • Super Deja Vu.

  • when hitachi used to make hdd's... good times =D

  • @pacsmile They still go make them. Like this one.

  • Its good buying a drive as cheap as a hitachi, sure performance is good but how long will it last, ive been through 2 hitachis and still havent found a reliable one, one lasted 3 years under 1 hour per week usages and the other one keeps jaming every now and then after a 1 year daily usage... FAIL, NEVER BUY HITACHI!

  • Id be happy with 100GB....I have 2 hard drives one windows xp and the other is windows vista both are 80GB but one only has 1.7GB free and the other has 4GB free.....I am looking for a portable hard drive that is atleast 100GB so I can take the files off both operating systems so I can get rid of the annoying low disk space notation at the bottom of the screen....its just videos ( about 20), music ( about 1,000 songs ) and a couple thousand pictures. Only pure USB powered, no wall plug mandatory

  • @wilburfudd you might wanna buy 1 external HDD 500gig (2.5 inch ), and 2x 500 gig HDD ( internal 3.5 inch ) in RAID1.

Raid1 = 2 hdd as 1 in windows ( mirror ) so if 1 of those 2 drives dies, you always have all the data on the other hdd, then you just buy a new drive and copy the files to it. And offcourse you have your external ( backup )

  • @felixkillercat though it makes it very slower i think, or is that raid5?

  • @felixkillercat very slower, nice english lol. sorry im tired

  • Yeah it was on the N routers unboxing how Stupid can Linus be

Thumb up i'm just kidding Linus is not styupid but the 4 screens surround setup killed his eyes

  • it's like i've seen this before....

  • Less hard drives, more benchmarks, cases, and other cool stuff. To me (here comes an opinion, uh oh). Watching someone unboxing a hard drive has the same boring aspect as watching someone unbox RAM.

  • @gisforjesus

    I agree 100%

  • @gisforjesus i 'm agree with you, Linus should de some after-unboxing, like testing, benchmarking, and not only show us the hardware in a platic bag but to give us the feel of how it works after, like he did for the PA 246Q for example.

  • @gisforjesus but I love ram.

  • @HayLotion dont we all?

  • @Pozpenguin c:

  • @gisforjesus URGH NURRR NOT DE OP!N!0Nz!!1!one!

  • @gisforjesus like watching porn in the radio o.0?

  • @gisforjesus YES MORE BENCHMARKS

  • @thelasthallow and not the usual benchmarks, benchmarks of CPUs and GPUs that are lower end solutions, not everyone who watches these videos can afford a core i7 and an nvidia gtx 590

  • @gisforjesus Agreed! I want to see how a core i3 Performs along with cheaper ram and motherboards!

  • @gisforjesus Then dont watch the fucking video?

  • @gisforjesus i agree with this, but this unboxing in particular was actually useful, because I didn't know not all mobos support 3TB+ drives. if I was just about to buy one, and did not see this video, I might've wasted a lot of money

  • @TheJaekryl well that depends. Are you using windows xp? if so do a search for " How To Use 3TB Hard Drives On Windows XP" i found an article on ghacks dot net and i tested it personally and it worked even on my old 2004 k8n neo platinum msi motherboard xp home 32 bit edition pc. why read the article? Because by default xp CANNOT address disk space beyond 2 terabytes so you'd lose at least 700 gigs or more ( realistic guestimate). If win vista, 7 or OS X snow or Lion. np then. cheers

  • @TheJaekryl yet another thing I wouldn't have known if this video wasn't here. lol

  • @TheJaekryl

True dat. Im actually wondering why nobody ever said that shit out loud.?! I mean 3 TB is a lot of room to waste if the mobos can't support it.?! Im just thinking why the hell theres no QVL for 3 TB HDD... Cuz i havent seen any yet -except from the mobo Linus just showed us there.?!

  • This was in the router unboxing

  • .mpg ???

  • Didn't WD buy Hitachi? Then, shoudn't it be WD?

  • @MrDucktaper The deal isn't closed yet.

  • why u put .mpg in the name of the vid

  • but will it blend!

  • Whats with the giveaway in ncixcom channel??

  • Hitachi BLOWS, never again.....never agian

  • @Supramna92557 Can you translate to formal english?

  • @bountyhunter552 Hitachi no es BUNEO!!!!

  • @Supramna92557 This is probably the most reliable 3TB HDD you can get today.
