  • Astro Boy and Jet Marte are brothers, but Marte is older than Astro Boy!

  • Second best astroboy series ever

  • @duellermd2 second best?? whats the first?

  • the b/w series featured the horned bot as Big Titan; the plot of this ep was the basis of Dunderbird ep.

  • No matter how powerful someone becomes, someone will always be stronger.

All the good guys die for one man's evil ambition.

  • Nothin more great is astroboy shootin out his backend.....what great art work drawings

  • The dub I've watched on TV, Bruton says "please say goodbye to Uran for me" - it's sad that he died. :(

  • Napa: Vegete, what does the scouter say about his horse power?

Vegeta: It's over 2,000,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! er actually, at 2,000,000

  • @Kalipathekid I think when you get into the "millions" you got to call it something else, like 2 mega-horse power or it sounds rediculous.

  • I have to agree I remember brutons voice being deep and bassey and bruton had this like high pitched demonic sounding voice and I dont remember Astro sounding so femm. the music was still the same. I wish someone had the Canadian version

  • "Bora!"

  • The Greatest Robot in the World......ASTROBOY!!!!!

  • I remember watching this as a kid. I thought Bruton was really terrifying at that age!

  • If anyone can help, I'm trying to the find the name of an old Astro Boy episode in which astro fights spider-like alien robots. Anyone know?

  • @JunoShades Altas Forever

  • @pateastwood I love that Episode "Atlas Forever",wherein Atlas dies for his brother Astro. One of the memorable episodes from Astroboy. :-(

  • @Sweetmervs I totally agree in fact I think it's the best episode of the whole serie right before the greatest robot of the world

  • OLD SCHOOL ASTRO BOY FUCKING AYY THE BEST SHIT RIGHT UP THER WITH DRAGON BALL Z GT I LOVE ASTRO BOY THIS IS SICK SHIT YO I ALLMOST HAD A CRY WATCHING THIS SO KOOL 80S ASTRO BOY ROCKS FUCK THAT NEW SCHOOL ASTRO ITS SHIT

  • Astro is may great Hero Go Astro Gooooo Forever I love You Astro boy

  • Oh I see Abra, you're a monster.

  • Great episode T__T *tears*

  • i like Japanese version!!

  • the funny thing is..in one of the other episodes where theres a robot amusement park, i remember seeing a statue of bora

  • Why the hell did they change it up so much?

The original wa so much better. I liked the version I saw as a kid, Bruton called Common Turk won't fight so the inventor pushes a button and Bruton turns in Boron and Astro finishes him by flying inside and shooting up his insides

I just wish that Anime in North America and Japan would stay consistent.

Now all I need to do is find a Japanimation where a blind monk destroys a bunch of robots with Nunchuks made of bowling balls.

  • @rrtodd95 You must live in Canada like me, we got a different dub then the Americans and Austrailia, and the Canadian version done by Cinelume is still unavailable on DVD, and i have a feeling it never will be :(

  • i wonder how much money building and then destroying all the robots costed

  • Bora may have 2 million horse power but his brain is an Atari lol

  • Todays cartoons are nothing but slap stick humor, but this had a bit of that mixed in with action. This even had the balls to show killing and use the word kill. But if they played these types of shows in todays society, black and white mothers would be all over this like raccoons on shit. It may not been close to the original but they kept the a good decent amount in there. At least they didnt take out the robots exploding. It even had a good life lesson in this.

  • I love how a story about trying to become the most powerful robot in the world turns so effortlessly into a parable about the self-destructive nature of power, free will, mercy, honor, etc. I was too young to get much of the subtext when I first watched this, but I hope some of those lessons influenced the character I have today. They don't make them like this anymore.

  • @hayesy316 totally agree. i always felt that astro boy of the 80s shaped atleast part of my personality.

  • It's interesting that Bruton becomes a sympathetic character in the end....

  • I miss this kinda stuff. The Golden Age of anime if you ask me.

  • I was so sad when Bruton destroyed Screwton, the world's most famous pimp robot. What a sad part of the episode that was. So many robot prostitutes cried during that part. Truly heartbreaking.

  • what was that robot's name?

    Vora....ra-ra-ra-ra-ra-ra-ra-ra-ra-ra?

  • As strange looking as Bora is I think it is a really effective design for the series.

  • Thank you very much for uploading. :)

  • Am I the only one to see the Canadian version of this?!?!

In that one Bruton TURNED INTO Bora! He actually let Astro into his body to destroy him. It was that scene where his body split into 2 and then combine again. 2:45 He never screamed Bora, but actually a wicked "ASTROOOO!!!" schrill of a yell!

There was no narrator at the end. Just Dr. Elephant tellng Astro that the GREATEST Robots in the world were, "...sleeping now."

Then the images of those Robots started rising.

    It was EPIC!

  • I saw the Canadian dub to, on Global back in the mid 80's. It was quite jarring to hear this dub so many years later, as all the voices, and many of the lines were different.

It may just be hazy nostalgia talking (I was only five or six years old at the time) but the Canadian version seemed far superior. The translation seemed more mature, and probably more like the original Japanese recording.

  • @oopopp

sounds like you were watching the original Japanese version

  • with great power comes great responsibility....

  • Aura is a badass robot the only way to stop him is for Astroboy to tear him from the inside. The same can be said of Cancer...

  • :'(

  • haha i cried 2 :P sort ov

  • Is This The Show That Gives U S..................... HHHHHHHHHHHHHAHAHAH I CANT SEE!

  • Eyes welled up first time i saw the final scene...still well up whenever i happen to catch it nowadays. - BORAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • Even with a few holes in the story line, it's still the most epic episode of a kids' cartoon ever made. I wish all cartoons put this much heart into their stories, there'd actually be a reason to watch them.

  • @kevnar Agreed.

  • the arabian engeneer is a bit like the emperor from star wars

go fight.... something something dark side....

  • Damn...I love Mighty Atom!!

  • What?

The robot that appears at the end is different at all from the original.

    I am disappointment.

  • Yeah, it is different from the manga. And yes, you are disappointment.

  • There must have been several dubbings. I remember the voices being different, the lines.

  • Bora is a freakin' beast! The battle with him is my favorite moment in Astro Boy.

  • One of my fave cartoon moments... Bruton, Bora, Astro...

  • Pluto makes a lot more sense now!

  • So to teach a life lesson to the sultan, the greatest robots in the world had to be kill'd??

  • LOL, true

  • Oh its worse then that, to teach a "life lesson" to some nobody Sultan, a simple Robot built Another Robot who then KILLED the greatest most beloved robots in the world, before building an even mORE massive robot to kill the pervious one.

So to teach one little rich shmuck a lesson, the best robots in the world were all killed.

  • The 'Abra" built Bruton for the Sultan NOT KNOWING that Bruton would be sent to destroy them, once he found this out he knew the only way to stop him would be to make another robot more powerful than Bruton to stop HIM.

similar psychology is used in today's "arms race"

  • Are you kidding me? The Sultun describes his plot in the first 50seconds with the maker watching. If "Abra" honestly cared in any way about the other robots he would have stopped Bruton immediately.

The fact thjat "Abra" doesn't build Bora until AFTER all the other robots are killed simply shows how freaking crazy he is.

Oh sure he SAYS at the end of the cartoon he created Bora to stop Bruton, but really he could have stoped Bruton himself after the first robot was killed.

  • perhaps... perhaps not, in any case lets not fight, eh?

  • Good comment, i noticed that too...

  • lol

  • @Crossroadsinc Ok a year ago... but I have to make this point:

I think the purpose of the 80's cartoons, were to teach you a lesson before you made your own mistakes. I mean, G.I.Joe "Knowing is half the battle." It's right there in the PSA's...

Pretty sure that every cartoon in the 80's was teaching some sort of life lesson. At least something that someone figured out, and letting children know of what they found.

    I thought it was good.

  • @Kardall Agr3eed but in this case did this "Life Lesson" needed to be taught by Killing the most beloved robots in the world?

  • @Crossroadsinc Unfortunately, I think it may be in his programming, at least partially. He was a servant, so it might be in his programming to do what the Sultan wants (make fighting robots), even if it's against his "morals."

  • I never realized how good the soundtrack to this was. The musicians playing the funk fusion are of the hook!

  • watching this brings back memories of my childhood days sitting in front of tv after school watching astroboy the greatest robot in the world.

  • diffrent look astro shoots lazer out his rear....

  • Thanks for the post. I felt like 5 years old again.

  • This is a lesson to George Bush and Osama

  • yes. that there will always be someone stronger...but until then, lets just kill everything in the most brutal and evil ways!!

  • Epic !

  • thank you for posting this

  • i think Bora was the inspiration for the pokemons

  • Now you should read the new manga Pluto which is a new interpretation of this episodes by Naoki Urasawa! (is made of awesome... is swear!)

  • T'is interesting to note that the American voice of Bora is a helluva lot better than the original. >:)

  • I've wanted to watch this again since I was a child, but I always remembered the last robot's name as Aura.

    Auraaaaaaaa!

pity it doesn't get placed with the other robots as a ghost.

  • 3:36-3:40 LMAO

  • Booooo. In the original, Astro was supposed to get 1 milli horse power and defeat Pluto, or Bruton. Hell this is bogus.

  • what do you mean original?

  • In the Manga, Astro gets nearly destroyed, and Tezuka finds him and adjusts him to 1 mili horsepower to fight pluto. At first his circuits don't cooperate, and he goes crazy, but once he gets used to them, he takes Pluto down.

  • sick how can i watch tnis episode

  • It wasn't made into an episode, but the one that closely resembles it was in the recent Astro Boy show from a few years back.

  • I actually cried at the end of this.

This is how you convey messages that any one of any age will take to heart.

  • 4:50 - "physical power isn't everything" Good message to Pentagon!

  • it Always lead to chaos when comes to Physical Power

  • Astroboy is the greatest robot in the world

  • "Doctor, why do we fight eachother?"

  • its awesome shit but i dont like the ending. that abra was a ratbag, he didnt need to use bora to kill bruton, he turned good. and then he laughs and says now take care of astro. asshole. bruton would of got his ass kicked if a few of them joined together to fight. anyway im finding flaws in a kids cartoon. i loved the show

  • orokusaki123, i am very sorry for you...you had a very bad childhood cause you didnt enjoy life when everything was just simple. like when watching astroboy saves the day is enough to make your day happy!!! belattttttttt!!!hehe,,

  • I think in Canada there was different dubbing and Bruton was called Common Turk.

  • WTF when I saw this as a kid, Bruta, was called Common Turk, and him and Astro fought to the death after sealing the volcano.

Then Common Turk turned into that two headed thing and Astro went inside of him and lasered up the insides.

I don't like this new one.

  • The manga Pluto, written and illustrated by Urasawa Naoki (creator of 20th Century Boys), as well as the late Tezuka Osamu, is a recreation of this story arc. Its very well done, and you should check it out if your a fan of either of their works.

  • 2 million horsepower = 1491400 Watts. Or a shade under 1.5 MegaWatts. In case any one was wondering. ;)

  • bora got a bad case of the meth scratchies and collapsed

  • "When somebody has power, he wants more of it." So true.

  • assbeams!

  • God this was an awesome cartoon!

    Thanks for the memories!

  • totally agree astro boy should become the UN

    moral mascote!

  • GENIUS!

  • Cool ending.

George Bush and Osma Bin Ladin should watch this.

  • I Agree Condering all the Evil they cause

  • lOOOOOOOl would thy try to make a more powerfull robot ? xD

  • Heh, me and my friends played a drinking game during both parts. Every time the words "I am a fighting robot" were muttered...we drank lol!

The end was heartbreaking...why did that nice daycare teacher robot have to die? Poor kids.

  • because he was a kiddy fiddler

  • So Bruton was carrying a atomic bomb all the time! Cool! then the last robot became a monocycle! COOL!!

  • Nice, but I read first "Pluto" Manga chapters before see this. Is a interesting take of that story by the same guy of Monster and 20th Century Boys, is more darker and the main caracther is not Atom (Astro).

  • I loved this arc in astroboy, I didn't care much for the remake in the newest astroboy series.

  • great memories, the eighties really were a great time to be growing up

  • thanks you so much for uploading

  • wow.....

  • damn this is sad

  • "it's a sad thing but people in power always seem to want more" - Along with awesome music, that right there is why 80's cartoons kicked the crap out of 00's cartoons. Even kids can understand thought-provoking lines. Oh and doesn't Atlas live in the arctic? (so surely he should be considered as one of the greatest robots in the world)?

  • I dunno the timeline of the series that well, but wasn't Atlas dead before this episode? Though, I still think anime today still provokes thought, morals are still prevalent in anime today, plus there are some new american cartoons that try to impart good values(probably only one I can think of now), but they are vastly outnumbered by cartoons that are just mindless entertainment.

  • That True they really need to make more cartoons like this, because so many kids are getting the wrong idea about life & what it means to be a hero

  • the narrator was speaking so seriously at the end "they were the greatest robots in the world, and may thy rest in peace".

  • this used to be my jam

  • when did he get the but beam?

  • yes 80's were the best, and thanku too. i love the music in it, pulls on my youthful heart strings for i was only 6 or 7 when i watched astro... cheers

  • i know the music makes each episode like a little dramatic film

  • i LOVED this, thankyou so much for posting. I'll always love the 80's version best ^^

And I cant wait until the cg movie is released in 2009!!

  • OH, NO! A CGI MOVIE?!

  • yeah, you can check out the info on wikipedia.

It definatly wont be up to this standard, and will probably be aimed at kids but i have hope XD

  • this has got to be one of the best astroboy episodes ever.

and yeah cartoons now days do not teach anything but sex and materialisation.

just last night i had sex with a guy and a girl. and i'm a guy!

  • Oh man I feel bad for you! you had sex with a guy????? holy fuck!!! Haven't you learned anything from this cartoon??? Proton should've just shove his horns up ur ass!!

  • The moral of the story: "You can get away with evil so long as you learn a life lesson in the end."

No. Seriously. Why the hell didn't the Sultan go to jail for the murder of six innocent robots? >_>

  • Because they're robots. I broke my toaster last week. Slap a pair of cuffs on me now.

  • Sniffs and sniffles...

  • this really gives us a good moral,i hope you guz learnt from it.:)

  • These cartoons actually tought kids morals not like in todays crap cartoons. Whats the deal in the music and singers too? I think it has something to do with why sex these days is too free and easy. Todays world is bullshit. Take me back to the 80's :"(

  • This was a golden era in history for television for kids.

Although there is a scent in these cartoons of anti-arab propaganda.

  • Admittedly these retro cartoons make today's excuse for childrens entertainment resemble actual vomit.

  • ASS LAZOR HAHAH!!!

  • What a captivating battle.

  • 5:22...that question is still relevant today.

Brought back alot of memories, thanks for the post.

    Peace.

  • now tell me THAT doesn't look like ruby weapon!!! 0.33

  • OMG that brought back so many memories.

    Best episode ever!

    LOVE ASTRO <3

  • I always get teary-eyed watching these episodes. ;_;

    Thanks for the post.

  • Sure of it. Especially at the end of this episode. I wish the other robots didn't get killed too. They should've had another episode after this with Dr Elephant, Sultan and Arbra rebuilding those robots :D.

  • peddy79, that is one of the best ideas I have ever heard (or read) for continuation in a brilliant show - I luv a.b. so I go & on & on .... if only astros' REAL creator was still alive and willing and able to carry on, with Astroboy: The Greatest Robot In The World, Part 3 ....

  • I bought the DVD set. It's pretty cool. Even if the acting is lame. :P

  • The great thing about all these Astro Boy episodes is that there was always a moral to learn from the story. Morals in cartoons these days are very rare. The new Astro Boy sux balls! The art designs are over the top and the scripts are shit.

  • I agree, you see the moral coming, but it's not so rediculous or pretentious.

  • one of the greatest episodes in astro boy history

  • this show on adult swim sucks more then this.

  • i know i hate it they started putting non colored episodes on adultswim

  • stupid garuda-like robot.... -__-"

  • Wow, I remeber the newer 2003 version I think it was Pluto and near the end of his life there was a darker version of him and was way more powerful. Quite similar then but this one was great.

  • haha gotta luv it

  • Thanks for posting this! It was actually quite awesome!

  • nooo, Pluto's dead... It's horrible *watches Blood+ in 1883 where Diva killed Joel in Zoo*

  • wow.

  • astro boy has the best stories, with very good morals too.

  • I Remember Astroboy when I was a kid. I also Remember this episode. I think that how megaman came to being, thought astroboy

  • That's a good observation but I heard a rumor that Megaman is actually based on Osama Tezuka's character Rock.

  • Right you are! The whole megaman series is based off Osama Tezuka's style too. As well as a bit of Gundam. =)

  • kj inafune, the creator of megaman did get his inspiration from anime shows as a child and it is safe to say that he based the original mrgaman off astrologer boy

  • One of the best animation stories ever!Cartoons of the 80's were the shit!I felt sorry for Photar(limitless power)..bloody Bruton had to fight him on a rainy day which is smart otherwise he would of been Vapour!Btw who loads astro bullets for his gun fingers?hahah

  • astroboy and kikaider are the greatest old time animes!

  • much more violent than the recent series was

  • that was amazing..... wow.

and Bora was an awesome robot!

  • are ty for this episode made everything come back on this show Astro lives forever i didnt like the new one to PC mix with wussy areas

  • My real name in life is astro

  • i love astro boy forever...

  • I love Astroboy, he's the best. Poor Bruton. This was sad and beautiful.

    I have a plush Astro Boy. :D

  • thanx. haven't seen that since i was a youngin.

  • Nobody fucks with BORA(cept astro)!

  • They don't make cartoons like they used to that's for sure. Great stuff!

  • Me either... I like the dialogue to be in English to understand well. Astro boy still remains to be cute after all.

  • check out astro's face in 00:18. haha

  • I"ve been looking for ever for old astro boy cartoons. Thanks.

  • Youtube is amazing and the people that take the time to upload the videos are the ones that make it all happen.Nice to take a trip down memory lane again!THANKS

  • Thanks for giving us that great memories. Astroboy is one of most beatiful stories i've ever seen. This espisode y particular is just a proof that power is not always the most important, but the heart and the human sense to help eachother. Greetings from Mexico.
