  • I didnt think anything of actors before but is christopher played by dom deluise?

  • HOLY SHIT, thank you forthe upload, I last watched this 16 years ago when I was 3 years old, wow its all coming back

  • Did CC really think that the Earth was cubed shaped?

  • Oh my God, this is the most nostalgic thing I've ever seen. This movie captivated me for the majority of my childhood. Thank You.

  • First movie I ever saw, I remember every line. I know this is so... nostalgic (don'tkillmeforusingthatword) but I cried when Pico appeared. Thank you!!!!!! <3

  • Ah. I loved this movie when I was little. And hey, what's better than a good nostalgia kick?

Having different opinions is good. Just don't force it upon others. As for myself, I still really like the movie and the wacky character designs.

To point out: Just because a film is historically inaccurate, does not make it a bad one to watch. Teaching is truly meant for school anyway. If you wanted that, you should look for real educational films and not fairytales. :)

  • Nostalgia Critic or not, this movie is awful. So awful I'm not even going to show it to my children.

  • Oh it's this movie with all the noise NOISE NOISE NOISE NOISE!!!

  • Oh I loved this movie when I was little :D Thank you for uploading it :D

  • 1:21 Ute Koll? That almost sounds like a pseudonym for...

    Oh, God, we're in trouble.

  • I absolutly love this movie!! please someone be so kind of telling me the name in spanish!

  • "Meaningfulness of this discusion?" The movies crap, whats to discuss? The original is crap and the American version is crap, go Nostalgia Critic! Yay! This is as dumb as that movie where a mouse influences Benjamin Franklin! Stop defending this movie and get on board!

  • Um there was nothing in that sack that Pico was carrying.

  • I watched this movie as a kid and even I knew it was just a fun silly tale to watch, nothing historically accurate, You want to not have kids grow up with delusions of history? encourage them to read books more. Thanks for taking the time to upload a childhood memory :-)

  • 0:32 Oh, Uwe Boll, you know you can't hide your identity like that...

  • i remember seeing this like 20 times when i was 4. awesome movie!

  • oh wow! been trying to remember the name of this movie, could only remember that it had something to so with columbus. haha schweeeet

  • whoa...way to take me back to when i was 5...

  • I always thought the seagull was saying to the fish on his head: "Let go you crazy bitch!" XD! I can't even count how many times I saw this as a little kid.

  • There are a swedish dub on this, and I have the VHS, becuse im swedish!

  • holy shit the horse can talk 0_0

  • The french version is probably the best of all. There are new sound tracks, new songs and an all star cast for the voices !

  • Magic Voyage; a movie for kids where the entire history of Columbus is wrong on ALL levels! The world is flat myth was perpetuated by Washington Irving (aka The Sleepy Hollow author). In reality, Columbus sailed to the New World in order to find another spice route since the Silk road through the Middle East became hostile.

  • i used to watch this with my older brother! I miss bubby we're all grown up now :( miss being little....

  • OMG THANK YOU! I LOVE THIS MOVIE!

  • thanks for the upload i used to watch this movie as a lil kid always liked it when i was lil but just saying thanks and dont listen to the bad comments

  • I did watch Nostalgic Citric review of this movie and also got agreed with you about you dislike people have the need be like sheep and hate on this movie because Nostalgic Citric review this movie not in the best-way.

  • the syncing is off... the jokes are lame... god, I love this film :) thanks BigDogJang0 for uploading my favorite childhood film!

  • I think the main thing that bothers me about this movie is the voice acting. I know it's dubbed, but they could of done a little better...

  • I read this book on tape as a little kid and when i saw NC's review i remembered the name so i had to go find the movie

  • to NC's credit, he did finally give me the one thing i needed to find this movie - the title.

well, i used to watch this all the time when i was very little. i tried to remember the title, the character names, everything, but it was too long ago so it was hard. until his review came out.

and then i came searching for this.

  • hahaha i loved this movie when i was younger!! When ever we talked about Columbus in school i thought he was an idiot after watching this lol this is a classic movie though <3

  • lol, I remember watching this movie as a kid. Although it's not my most favorite movie, it's still a great historical movie for kids. :)

  • I love all these old voice actors, they did all the best movies

  • Pico is so cuuuuuuuuuute!

  • It is actually accurate with most of its facts, the all fantasy angle I suppose is just to spice it up a bit. I have this movie on DVD and I like it for its fantasy merit and its genuine work. Nostalgia Critic is made full out over exagerated points against this film. Sometimes he can be such a bully to little bits of gold like this, but I do agree some parts aren't too grand.

  • I heard that there was a rare English version before this one was made, now I'm curious about it.

  • The french version is much better!!

  • @tiaree972

    I agree ! Je suis d'accord ;).

End roger carrel, the man who do the voice of asterix, is doing the voice of columbus.

  • Some of the animations in this movie are average, but otherwise the movie is really good.

  • lol it took me so long to find this movie!!! i love it! <3 i remember watching it as a kid! Good times :D

  • I think all these spammers and trolls are an embarrassment to NC. Many times I go to a film he's reviewed and find it really isn't all that bad. It's always a good idea to see the film for yourself BEFORE watching his review. It helps you not only form your own opinion but appreciate his review more.

  • My life used to be a minus, like a nose without a sinus, but today that garbage smells like perfume? this has got to be the worst song ever.

  • i suppose you wondering what I got here?

YOU KNOW I COULDN'T REALLY CARE LESS!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Believe it or not, I loved this movie when I was little. I don't love it so much anymore, but I like to revisit it to relieve the nostalgia ;)

  • Loved it as a child !

  • Er... at 7:45, is Pico suddenly possessed by Evil or what ?

Oh, and I DON'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT WHAT YOU-KNOW-WHO SAID ABOUT THIS MOVIE !!

I still found him funny though... but I came here to have an opinion on my own about it, thank you.

  • Thank you so much for putting this online. You have no idea how many years I've spent trying to find the name of this movie.

  • did... Columbus really think the world was square o.O

  • Hey, did you know that Pico is played by Donetello from the old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon? Of course you didn't, blockhead!

  • I don't care what anyone thinks, any movie with Dom Deluise in it is a win hands down.

  • I absolutely love this movie and have been looking for it forever.. thank you so much for uploading it.!!!

  • @jedouril DITTO!

  • I have a feeling I'm the only one on youtube (if not ANYWHERE) that is both a Nostalgia Critic fan and likes The Magic Voyage. In fact, I actually watched this movie on youtube WAY before he reviewed it. I can't blame NC for hating this movie, it really is awful, but I love it because it does have some funny moments (it's one of those so bad it's good movies) and I have a lot of nostalgia value on it.

  • If anyone, ANYONE can tell me what the name of the opening theme music is or how I can download it to keep for myself, I would be GRATEFUL. I don't know why but I simply love it's tune!

  • I loved this movie when i was a kid. Even if i like NC, i think he said bullshit about this movie.

  • I remember loving this movie when I was a kid.

  • To be honest one of the only things that annoys me in this movie is that the dubbing really doesn't match the words and it makes it hard to really pay attention to it

  • @Untouchablemkwo I think that if the dubbing matched the words, that would make this movie a little better because in my opinion the animation is not so great either. However, this film has likeable characters in it. I enjoy Dom Deluise's performance as Columbus a lot.

  • I won't quite blame the NC, he just felt that the movie insulted the children's intelligence with the noises and hardcore gloss-over history. I blame people who simply seize NC's influence and troll around and hate (I'm sure Doug won't like trolls on this movie). But again, this is a dub.

Say, do you have an original German version anywhere? Maybe it would be more enjoyable and gracious to children?

  • @AliaSparrow

Why would I? I'm not German.

  • @BigDogJang0 I was just curious to see what the original German version is like. Looks like the original version can't be found anywhere on Youtube.

  • I don't want to see any comment that say "Thumbs Up if Nostalgia Critic brought you here" Because that crap is starting to get annoying on every video and its because somebody was so many thumbs up.

  • @VTwinty

Don't worry, I delete comments like those. They contribute nothing to provoke thought or start a meaningful discussion.

  • I'm glad to see someone has some brains about the kinds of comments that are allowed on this. Just because the NC reviews something doesn't mean you have to pursue it and started quoting him on specific things.

I use to watch this when I was a kid and found it 'funky'. Me and my sister liked the seagull.

  • The dialogue seems fine to me. I think the issue is that for the English dub, they tried to throw in too many one liners. If they didn't do that, it might have been fine. The songs aren't all that bad either. Over all, this film isn't too bad. It's just okay. There's a lot of historically inaccurate stuff going on, but in the end, it is just a movie. I woudn't mind seeing the original German version sometime, all the same.

  • I'm just glad this IS uploaded. I wanted to watch the movie tonight, and found my old VHS from my childhood, but when the tape started, the sound was messed up - I guess that explains why I stopped watching it :P

  • How exactly does The Woodworm know the World is Round? I mean, that knowledge wasn't readily available to anybody and would have had to have been discovered practically. Did he already sail around the world himself or something?

  • @NYG4LIFE123

Well obviously. Before he meets Colombus, he sings about how he's sailed the seas and been to Greece and Portugal.

  • Man I remember watching this movie when I was a kid. I couldn't remember if it was good or bad, but I do remember enjoying it. Seeing NC actually review it, I decided to watch it again. Seeing it again actually gave me mixed feelings about it. BUT good to know that I still sort of enjoy it. Thanks for uploading!

  • After watching this for while I see where the major flaws are. Story aside and everything wrong with it (that would take up too much space) the main flaw that lends to such a horrible review is actually the voice acting. Lip syncs are off (granted it was in German to start) and they just added too much dialogue. Much like the thief and the cobbler, the English company I feel added in many lines as there are spots where the chars r suppose to build atmosphere but shatter it with constant chatter.

  • Is it me or does Christopher Columbus look like a friendly version of Captain Hook? lol

  • I liked this movie as a kid, and even though im a nostalgia critic fan, i still like this movie for the fact that they tell you that Christopher Columbus is Italian.

  • The NC is always too hard on the songs in these animated musicals. He is right about them sucking most of the time, but I still find some pretty good lyrics and tunes within those songs. The guy seems like he's too much of a perfectionist when it comes to music, as if everything has to be up to 90s disney quality. I always look up these songs afterwards, and very rarely regret having done so. That's the reason I looked this up, I could use a little non-disney once and a while.

  • @Dudinator123 Exactly. I never understood why he hated EVERY SINGLE SONG in Quest for Camelot... okay, maybe with Ruber's song it made sense, but the other songs... he had no other reason for going after them except for the fact that they were from a movie he disliked. Radical Reviewer is kinda like this too, but he's starting to brush up his act a bit. That's the impression I get whenever Doug criticizes a song in a film. He only hates it because it's from a film he hates and nothing more.

  • @slashermaster28 Because those were poorly written songs that knocked-off Disney concepts and milked the cash out of these songs rather than tell a substantial story; that's still a reason, songs have to be there to futher plot, not cash. Other than that, these songwriting cliches occurred so much in children's films, that at some point, why doesn't this stop? Why do songwriters constantly insult the audience's intelligence? Oh, and Doug actually mentioned he sorta liked "I Stand Alone".

  • I wonder how many views this got before the NC review

  • @sickweirdo

It's about the same as now, it's only been day one since the release of his review.

  • freaked me out a bit when he bore through the seagulls beak!! other than that, not that bad a film.

  • I saw this Movie many years ago and don't remember it very well. But probably I saw just the first few minutes. Because I remember the little Bookworm and that Columbus thinks that the world is square and the worm told him that it is round.

BTW I saw it in German, so I can't say that the Dub was horrible. (NC mentioned that in his review.) So well, lets watch a movie, which is probably a little weird one.

But please don't judge German filmmaking, because for one "bad movie".

  • Omg Christofer Columbus wasnt italian they got this so wrong he was spanish for gods sake

  • @FuriousStoffe Actually, Columbus was Italian. He did, however, sail for the Spanish.

  • @FuriousStoffe I love how the one historical "innacuracy" you report on is actually true.

  • I owned this movie when I was a kid and thought it was okay. I can understand the NC's feelings toward this movie. I mostly fault that on the dubbing. Dubs can usually hurt a foreign picture. There are good dubs out there, I've seen them, but like Japanese anime, dubs are usually loud, in-your-face, and have horrible dialogue due to translations. Not trying to sound like a weaboo or anything, it's just a sad reality. Dom Delouise was in many of my favorite kid's films, btw.

  • Haven't you ever noticed that Ute Koll's name almost sounds like Uwe Boll? Connection? And why am I looking forward to seeing the "telescope scene" so much? (Yeah, NC brought me here.)

  • I loved this movie growing up!! It was so colorful. We need more children shows/movies like this that don't take themselves too seriously and bask in the fun like we had in the 80s and 90s.

  • Well even though ya probably gonna be getting comments from NC's review, know at least ya got one more viewer that actually likes the movies and is thankful ya uploaded it

  • @2KDragon

You're very welcome. I very much appreciate it.

  • What disappointed me about the NC's review of this is he left out the thing about the rats. While I personally kinda like this film, the thing with the rats bothered me because it was pretty clear they had no real purpose in the movie, like, at all. It didn't even make sense why Pico was trying to keep them on the ship in the first place since he had no reason to enjoy their company.

  • @slashermaster28 He himself has said that he leaves stuff; The Hardcore Kid's review did a great job too.

  • Nostalgia Critic's New Review

  • Nostalgia Critic just reviewed it today! I'll have to watch it when I can.

  • This...is my childhood. :o

  • Wow, aside from The Great Mouse Detective, this was the second movie I used to continuously watch when I was three. It's been literally 19 years since I last saw this movie! It might not have been the best when it came to animation, but it's still a trip to see my memories of this movie coming back. Thank you for bringing back another part of my childhood!

  • "So that's what happened to Fishy!" Man, I used to watch this movie, like, every day as a child; I was almost obsessed with it. Unfortunately, after watching it again rather recently, it's definitely NOT as good as I remembered. :/

  • I watched this a million years ago and then started reading a book that reminded me of it.. I'm writing a university english paper and watching this.

  • nooooooooooooooooooooooo fuckin wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • nostalgia mindfuck overload from the second it started

  • This is completely inaccurate 9_9 Also it's a horrible movie. I looked it up because I remembered liking it when I was like seven or so, when they showed it in school. Now every second annoys me -.- Oh well, I can stick with my other nostalgic movies, Disney and Bluth and what not.

  • I love how every production concerning Columbus just glosses over how he massacred the native people in America and enslaved whoever was left.

  • @Dipstikk is your name buzz killington?

  • YES! I completely forgot about this movie!

  • I just realized I still have this movie on VHS. I refused to let it go when I was a kid.

  • i watched this all the time when i was little! ^_^ i like the fairy

  • Why hasn't the nostalgia critic done this one yet?

  • @chuckinator11 Because I'm gonna do it first! >:D Mwahahahaha!

No, seriously, I am going to review this.

  • @chuckinator11

No. I DO NOT want the Nostalgia Critic to review this movie. If he does, then there will be a huge wave of people only watching this because he reviewed it, and all the comments will just be referencing his jokes.

  • @BigDogJang0 Why would that ruin it for you?

Sure, people are going to be retarded, but you have to enjoy what you enjoy, regardless of others.

  • @BigDogJang0 Can I review it? :/

  • @Headbanger142

I'm not the one who made the movie, you don't need my permission. I just wouldn't want the Nostalgia Critic reviewing this movie for the reasons mentioned above, but that's not to say I have any control over it if he does.

  • @Headbanger142 Wouldn't it be funny if all the comments were quotes from YOUR review?

  • @AntonyBlalock

For me, maybe, but not particularly for everyone else. What's your point? That I should let the NC have his fun at mine and anyone else's expense?

  • @BigDogJang0 He's allowed to review it, he has the right

  • @AntonyBlalock

    I never said he didn't.

  • Comment removed

  • @BigDogJang0 well i hope you like NC quotes 'cause you're gonna be seeing a lot of them soon

  • @SpamNapkin

Thanks for the heads-up. Comments are now disabled for the time being.

    Sorry everyone...

  • @BigDogJang0 too late

  • @hackensac

I typed that reply before the review came out. The time stamp is right there, go check it.

  • @BigDogJang0 As much as I *love* the Nostalgia Critic, it does get annoying when I am a fan of something, some internet celebrity references it, and people flood the comments section of the video making references. It hasn't just been for this movie (which I remember somewhat enjoying from childhood, even if it wasn't one of my faves).

Reportedly it was mostly the dubbing that ruined the film in English and it received praise in its original German. I'd believe it, watching it without sound.

  • @chuckinator11 >> He mentioned at a recent convention he's going to review this movie.

  • @83phatman

Really? How's he going to get his hands on a copy of this movie? It's hard to find.

  • @BigDogJang0 >> There's an interview with him at a Con in 2010. He mentioned a fan had donated it to him. Don't know when he'll do it, but he mentions it's in the future.

  • @BigDogJang0 He got his hands on Titanic: The Legend Goes On (The one with the rapping dog!) so anything's possible.

  • @chuckinator11

NO! I want to review this one, I've made up so many jokes about it!

I have to get to it before he does!

Even though... I would like to be apart of his team...

I know that I am a hell of a lot better than every girl in there

  • @SteffiMess well u ain't gonna get on his team without any videos on your channel.

  • @SteffiMess

    I know... D:

But at least you cared enough to check out my page! XD

Thank you for at least thinking that I was credible enough to do that!

(Too lazy of a bastard to even upload my ideas)

And Nostalgia Critic already did this one too and it was funny!

  • ahahahahahahaha omggg I use to LOVE this movie when I was little!!!! I love the cute wacked up romance in it. it feels so silly now to watch it >_<

  • i love this movie, but its totally messed up.

  • this was my absolute favorite movie wen i was little

the teacher let me show it 2 my second grade class and they all loved it =)

  • @michaeljacksongirl97

Hey, I showed this movie to my 2nd grade too! We were studying Columbus at the time so my teacher let me bring it in, but then she got kinda wierded out by it.

  • @BigDogJang0 loll cool

  • @BigDogJang0 I can't believe you did this. This has got the history all wrong.

    1. Columbus already know the world was round.

    2. He thought he would get to India by going west.

    3. Thee was no evil swarm or firefly princess.

    4. The native people were slaughtered for gold.

  • @marlyonama

Hey, I was only about 7-years-old, lay off.

BTW, an elementary school teacher actually messaged me and asked if he could show this movie to his class. I mean, I know they might've added Pico to make it interesting for kids, but besides the cartoon gags the plot is like the exact opposite of being historically accurate, and I listed every reason why to the teacher. I haven't gotten a message back since, but I think I got my point across.

  • @marlyonama It's a movie! Who cares if the history is right or not?

  • this used to be one of my girls fav movies

  • That bug looks like he could be Myoga's cousin, lol.

  • @BigDogJang0 I think what he might mean is he use to read the books instead of just eating the them. I Wikipedia the name Woodworm & I found out it's not a specific kind of species. It said down at the bottom to see bookworm & apparently there really is a insect called bookworm that bores through books. I didn't know that before. Well I'm going to stop sounding like a smart ass bitch and continue watching the movie lol. Sorry.

"I feel smarter just by looking at you"...Sounds like an insult 2 me

  • Oh my it's been YEARS since i've seen this flick. Nostalgiaaaaaa! :D

  • Thumbs up if you want the Nostalgia Critic to review this movie.

  • @tehhypo Believe me, I certainly do. Even though this film is a guilty plessure of mine, I can certainly imagine what he'd have to say about it. ;)

  • Where can I download this cartoon?

    I LOVEEE IT O.O

  • tips to enjoying this movie:

    1. forget everything u ever learned in school

    2. invite some friends over

    3. get stoned out of ur mind and i mean really stoned and this suddenly becomes a masterpice

  • -screams- I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH!!!! <33333 thank u for uploading it!!! :D

  • wtf

  • were those birds cussing when fighting over that one fish? I swear as pico was bouncing away that one bird yelled out "fucker!"

  • "im as happy as a fly, when he sees me passing by"

    LMAO!!!!

  • I think the people who did the English dub were just making these lines up as they want along... these dude's lips aren't even moving most of the time they're talking. ... is that the same voice actor who played the raven from The Secret of Nihm? Heh, I loved this movie when I was little, I still have some nostalgia-love for it ^_^

  • @Ashley963123 Me, too. But I will also agree with what you said about the english dub. But whatever else I have to say, I'll save for one of the other parts.

  • some one please tell me what that little "bug book worm" actutally is!?!?! is that a carrot for a nose?!!?

  • @bellejem07

He's supposed to be a woodworm, but he used to be a bookworm somehow.

  • @BigDogJang0 I believe a woodworm and a bookworm are the same, a woodworm would eat books and shelves of the library so they would call them bookworms, but he's saying he used to be a bookworm because he used to eat/read all the books in all the libraries but now he wants to an adventurer.

  • @bellejem07 the "bug book worm" is a woodword and his name is pico ^_^

  • I watched this ever day as a kid.

  • Ha Ha Corey Feldman as Piko the Woodworm. Classic :)

  • This isn't exactly the most factually accurate thing i've seen.

  • I love this movie, I also love this song, I've seen since childhood and I have been looking for years.

    It's my favorite movie.

  • I remember watching this movie and being severely confused over what actually happened. I knew that Columbus didn't have a worm, just my image of him being a goofy idiot in comparison to the real deal really blew my mind.

Anyway, I really liked it as a kid. Now...just...God...I loved a lot of crap as a kid, but seriously child self?

  • Columbus was a rapist you know.

  • omg i had this film on video when i was little!

  • now THIS brings me back.

  • I loved this movie when I was a kid too bad I don't have the movie anymore :( but im happy for ppl who are able to upload the movie :)

  • wow I haven't seen this in 15 years.

  • 0:34 - Ute Koll... Ute Koll... germa- no..... no, no, it couldn't be... could it...

    It can't be... ... UWE BOLL?!? O_O

1:37 - By the end of this firm, I'm going to hate the fact that you two existed, aren't I?

And the opening credits were so well painted, too.

    Then the movie proper starts.

Oh, god, then they start talking, FUCK.

4:27 - Did... did he just drill through beak?

4:55 - AIGH, THAT ANIMATION, GODDAMN.... Wait; "I like it"? WTF??

    Dom DeLuise??? How did they get you? ;_;

  • oh no, I am blinded by nostalgia lol

    xD

  • Herrgott, dieser Film wirklich aussieht Müll.

  • um. they already knew that the world was not flat at that time.

  • @marlyonama Yes, but in the 90's they didn't know that they knew.
