  • what kind of cab and what speakers

  • for this particular video, it was an earcandy buzzbomb 2X12 with a pair of earcandy greenmachine speakers.

I sold it however in favor of a splawn 4X12 which has those two earcandy speakers as well as a pair of scumback XH75-LHDC's. It sounds soooo much better than the buzzbomb. This amp truly needs a 4X12 speaker to maximize it's potential. It sounds like 2X12's sort of choke it down.

  • Thanks for these videos!

    Splawn amps sound killer.

Too bad the compressor curcuit of the camcorder messes up the sound constantly.....

    Peace

  • Thanks, it was great seeing the distortion get increased and how the amp sounded with it.

  • THE amp for me, now to see if I can get one down here in Australia, sounds phenomenal! and great palying (Yes, the VH licks are a must for an amp like this :)

  • yeah clean and the overdrive channel has 2 gain modes as well as a solo boost.

  • 2 Channels?

  • yes

  • I really dig that amp. I am debating between this and the VHT Pittbull UL. I want a very mean dark tone, lots O gain, and no fizz. I have played the VHT and at very high gain it's clear sounding how does the nitro compare? which one do you think is better for metal?

  • The UL has more gain and is a little tighter but also dryer. It's definatley the one better suited for the numetal stuff. the nitro is essentialy an extremely pissed off 70's marshall super lead 100 with more gain and a much bigger low end and lower midrange.

It has a very powerful growling upper midrange (again typical marshall) but it also has TONS of clarity at the high gain settings and has a thicker and more open and organic midrange about it than the UL.

  • Both are very good amps but to me, the UL has no real mojo or soul.. it's a cold dry calculated machine which is what some guys dig. I wanted something with more character and a more identifiable voice. You plug into the nitro and you've got instant cranked balls out marshall without the marshall fizzyness.

  • SPLAWN!!!The real deal.

  • The Carvin V3 seems to have more gain but the Nitro is MUCH more dynmanic. I mean it seems like the Nitro tone comes more from your hands than from the amp per se. Obviously, you like the Splawn better, but is it enough gain for heavier metal (not like 80's) but more for say death metal, black metal, etc? Either way I really love the sound you are getting.

  • ehh.... it's debatable. If you're in a full band, I'd say yes. there are plenty of sound clips from guys at harmony central and the splawn forums that would say yes but if you compare it to a framus dragon or cobra or the like, it lacks the gain they have but makes up for it with the mojo and more classic voice.

  • actually framus cobra and dragon are of the same voicing philosophy as the nitro but they are not as saturated. the nitro sound a bit rounder and wet.

  • It's basically an extremely pissed off JCM800.

the QR is a slightly tamer version of the nitro. main difference between the two from what I've read is the midrange voicing on the nitro is a little darker. I find it's still very authoritative with the nitro and the low end of the nitro is more powerful than that of the QR.

  • nice tone !! i am on the fence with this or the quick rod. both sound simply amazing. it seems it is what a marshall should have always been. which one would you recommend?
