HELP! I'm writing a fiction novel that utilizes a Sikh character. The character is a protaganist (good guy) but I've having problems with his charcter development. I've specifically chosen 'Sikh' to illustrate to the Western World that they are NOT terrorists just because they have brown skin, beards and wear turbans (even though the book is set in 1901). I really want a good name but I'm not familiar enough with the culture to think of one- without unknowingly offended anyone.

Okay y'all need to be educated. Hindu is any religious belief or cultural practices that originated on the Indian subcontinent. This includes Vedic, Buddhism, Vaishnavism, Vedanta, Sikhism etc.
Also many religions deemed Hindu don't practice caste or believe in multiple gods. Vedanta was started in 6th century ( a thousand years before Sikhism) and does not practice either caste system or paganism.

Sikh's are Hindus. Hinduism is since last 6000 years. Sikhism has started just before 700 years (the founder of Sikhism Guru Nanak Dev (born 1469 , death 1538) All Sikhs were Hindus till before 700 years.
Sikhism is just a path of Hinduism (just like Jainism) If you weren't Hindu, you would not have an Omkar which is a Symbol of Lord Shiva, you won't build a temple like us Hindus, you would not give Prashad like us Hindus.

Okay y'all need to be educated. Hindu is any religious belief or cultural practices that originated on the Indian subcontinent. This includes Vedic, Buddhism, Vaishnavism, Vedanta, Sikhism etc.
Also many religions deemed Hindu don't practice caste or believe in multiple gods. Vedanta was started in 6th century ( a thousand years before Sikhism) and does not practice either caste system or paganism.
But back to the topic. This looks awesome, any where in the states I can go to learn this?

Rasabihariji that is not true. Sikhs defend those who are being oppresed regardless of their religion or race. Examples include thousands of Sikhs fighting for the British army. Sikhs fought during the Mughal empire where the muslim emperors oppresed non muslims to convert India to a muslim nation. This included Hindus as well as many other religions and races. The founding Guru Nanak was born to Hindu parents but Sikhism is a seperate religion. Not made to defend Hindus but all who need.

Sikh's are Hindus. Hinduism is since last 6000 years. Sikhism has started just before 700 years (the founder of Sikhism Guru Nanak Dev (born 1469 , death 1538) All Sikhs were Hindus till before 700 years.
Sikhism is just a path of Hinduism (just like Jainism) If you weren't Hindu, you would not have an Omkar which is a Symbol of Lord Shiva, you won't build a temple like us Hindus, you would not give Prashad like us Hindus.
