Would I fly in one of those? well erm not really! If a 747-400/777 or a A330/A340/A380 has a 10% chance of crashing, an A310/A300/747SP/747100/727 or a IL62/TU154 probably has a 75% chance of crashing. (even if the pilots are truly excellent).
If ever Iran Air had such a 'high quality' service. This video is such a misconception of Iran Air. The last time I flew with them, this was what happened:
1.) They, apparently, ran out of cheloh kabob; but then you see all the flight attendants gobbling over them!
2.) Our seats were jammed, so did not recline.

well iran air has a far better safety record than most american airlines other than being shot down by an american carrier the last iran air incident was in 1980 right after the revolution fucked up all the infrastructure, before that incident the previous one was in 1952 so in 56 years 2 crashes? take a look at american airlines they have a whole wikipedia page dedicated to their accidents, in the 70's iran was voted the worlds safest airline alongside quantis.

no not nessescarily, there are many european pilots that are just as skiled. Even most iran air pilots are ex military. they fly these old planes in such grace. the landings and takeoffs of iran air are far better than any ive experienced here in the us. Also, american airlines give very bad service, since when do you have to pay for food.
I like 747 the best, I personally hate a380 although i know its more efficient in any possible way but it's probobly the design of the aircraft which i appreciate more than the new hi tech aircraft with glass cockpit and everything, I'm a commercial pilot myself and offcourse I would fly a 737NG or 747-400 rather than an unsafe Iranair 737 or 747sp or the other old ones, but what the guy says is what he feels like some would preffer a well maintaned Rolls Royce over an all new model.

The Pilot who was also the CEO of the airline, landed long and too fast at Mashhad airport, skidded over a kilometer past the runway and crashed into a wall killing 16 on board, most of them crew. And of course, there was the incident at Stockhom when the engine of the IranAir Airbus exploded on the runway. I'm Iranian and would rather not fly with them, especially if there a high ranking officials onboard and Sabotage becomes a real possibility.

FYI, Iran Air has been rated as one of the safest airlines in the world. Don't ask me why, but, the only crash Iran Air faced was when the U.S. "Accidently" hit down flight 655. Other than that, only a problems like not stopping on time which happened 3 years ago. Around the same time Southwest airlines ran out the airport in Chicago Midway and killed a child.

because we pay for them 40 years ago and each boieng747 works until 20 years after that we have to put that on trash.but after 40 years they still working well with a lot of isolation that i'm sure you know abut it,these palne work.u should be proud to all of iranian engineer that working on these plane.

no, i mean it's true that they have had a great safety record, along with qantas. but i'm talking about the present; right now. at THIS POINT in time, the planes are too old. this year they had one or two crashes, both from tupolev's i believe. the b747's are constantly in need of repair; some of them have already been grounded. but i heard that they are ordering many new russian planes, since they can't get new airbuses and boeings.

The last crash was an Aria Aia Ilyushin aircraft. The Pilot who was also the CEO of the airline, landed long and too fast at Mashhad airport, skidded over a kilometer past the runway and crashed into a wall killing 16 on board, most of them crew. And of course, there was the incident at Stockhom when the engine of the IranAir Airbus exploded on the runway. I'm Iranian and would rather not fly with them, especially if there a high ranking officials onboard and Sabotage becomes a real possibility.

Before the revolution, Tehran was set to be the air transport hub of the entire Asian/European land mass. It's geographical position made it the ideal choice and of course we had the means and the resources. But there's too many what-ifs to bear thinking about. In the long run Iran will recover. It's all part of a process.

because i thought they bought some modern air crafts...but found out these r d boeing 747 dat was close to kill me once...we were coming from kuala lampour ,when we landed in mehrabad airport...the wing start burning with huge flames...
- seconds all the new airlines goes to 80 destinations around the world every single fucking DAY...but iran air goes to 40 destinations ONLY and every 2 days or 3 days every week...
conclusion! IRAN AIR IS d SHITTEST AND RISKY EVER

Secondly Iran is has many sengtions that are in place with the U.S,and U.K. They can not buy new planes from Boeing, nor airbus, and they can't fix the planes here, so we even found out all the systems, and have started fixing them here.

Hey pal let me tell you somethin The Boeing 747 Classics are beutiful,powerful and will kick any new planes ass. I'd rather fly a 30 or 40 year old 747 then fly on a fucking A380 or ANY of those new planes. IranAir makes there fleet look like new and I garuntee you that no other airline maintains there aircraft and makes there planes look as good as IranAir does. I love old planes and I'd fly an L1011,A300,727,707,737-100&200 anyday over an A320 or 737NG. spoiled brat your an ingreat fool

FYI, Iran Air has been rated as one of the safest airlines in the world. Don't ask me why, but, the only crash Iran Air faced was when the U.S. "Accidently" hit down flight 655. Other than that, only a problems like not stopping on time which happened 3 years ago. Around the same time Southwest airlines ran out the airport in Chicago Midway and killed a child.
So since your so updated in the air crash inv. i'm sure you have watched Iran Air 655 as well. Notice it's the only one.

@jamed2catch What are you talking about? What about these crashes: 1980 ehen the 727 crashed or 1952 with the DC-3? The safest is the Australian airline Quantas.
I love Iran Air but let's just be fair and not over rate an airline that used to be the second in the world and now is next to nothing for whatever reason.

i'm not sure about better condition, but they definately have better pilots. the iranair pilots maneuver those old planes so that they land much smoother than the new planes on the european airlines. i'm not kidding. i've experienced it myself.
