this is where the fine line between hardflip and shuv it becomes blurred. When people do hardflips completely vertical, that shuv in the hardflip may be considered a front shuv or a pop shuv because the hardflip was done vertical. Does anyone catch my drift?

Yeah, it's weird cause the flip becomes minor, although when doing hardflips vertical you still need to make a conscious effort to make sure u still give it the kickflip it needs with the front foot.

I'm glad that somebody understands. In order for it to be a legitimate frontside flip or hardflip, the board must turn frontside. If the board turns backside, even slightly, then it's not flipping. Such tricks are often called 'illusion flips'.

Not all frontside flips between the legs are illusion flips. They are illusion flips if the board doesn't turn frontside at all. If it turns frontside, even by a few degrees, then it's a frontside flip. If it turns backside at all, then the board isn't flipping and hence the trick is an illusion flip (unless of course you're performing a varial flip, but that's a whole different matter).
