  • I know her son in real life, he's so large he could eat her.

  • How come this is pure bubblegum pop BUT my ears can tolerate it whereas most modern pop annoys the hell outta me?

  • Awesome video for 1986. Thanks for the trip!

  • la primera vez q la escuche pense que era no madona sino cyndi luper pero era regina cantante desconocida

  • a madona le ofrecieron esta cancion y la tonta no la quiso fue un hitazo en los 80,s regina la interpreto de forma exelente

  • This song is awesome! 80's were the best for tunes and good honest fun. No cell phones or the internet. Lol!!!

  • Gawd the 80s ruled!!

  • hahaha she sounds like madonna !except madonna is prettier!cute video i can't stop singing it!baby love baby love!

  • madonna passed on this song....produced & arranged by members of madonna's former band "The Breakfast Club." check out the video for "Right on Track" from "The Breakfast Club."

  • @bfuente1 WHO TOLD YOU THAT? lol Regina wrote it with Steve Bray, thats all,no one else lol, there was a rumor she wrote it for Madonna but thats all.

  • i always thought she sounded a LOT like madonna, esp when hitting those low notes :) love it!!

    colosessed

  • @fsmorel123

Most people thought that back then. Me included.

  • this was my jam right before the school bus came I would jam this song 4and 5 times!

  • gone are the days of phones with curly cords, and sax solos.....

  • Dam I miss the 80's & 90's so bad!!!

  • @NorthernCaliSwagga Me too!!!!

  • and all this time i thought Danni minogue wrote this !!

  • @applejack10 She (Regina) sounds pretty much the same as madonna (meaning the voices and singing styles are basically identical). But Silky's remix of Danni's version is far and away the best version of this, so you really aren't missing much.

  • She looks like Cyndi Lauper. Anybody noticed this?

  • @Supersweetguy Cyndi Loafer.

  • bonita cancion

  • I've said it before and will continue to say it: this and many other '80s songs bring back the best of memories. As they say on the East Coast-forget about it.

  • I wonder if she's still alive.... A lot of artists have died under the radar kinda of.....

  • @sscarzz According to wiki: Regina Richards (Regina), who now goes by the name Regina Lee – is married to a pediatric neurosurgeon, and moved with her four children from Augusta, Georgia to Austin, Texas, where she currently resides.

  • REGINA NEEDS SOME BABY LUV!!!!!!!!

  • ahhhh the 80s were so great....

  • is good video music i like everitme my life

    coloquen mas videos buenos siempre

  • She looks like that girl from Pulp Fiction... Maria de Medeiros

  • Yes, at first i believed this was Madonna, sadly she didn´t take it and losed a great song

  • Regina wrote this song for Madonna, and when Madonna decided not to do thi song Regina recorded it herself

  • @Eazz34 I am so glad she did it herself . john from houston texas

  • @Eazz34 It's a Madonna's 80's sounding clone,that's for sure.

  • @Man18Colts That was the female pop sound of the mid 80's. If Madonna would have taken this written by Regina it would have been a huge #1 hit because of Madonna's huge exposure both on radio and TV

  • coincido con los amigos que se confundian a regina con madonna, 25 años despues me doy cuenta

  • The two lead dancers are Richard Bradley and Cornelius Carter in this video!!

  • RECUERDO ESOS ANOS EN LOS QUE ERA TAN FELIZ...!!!!!

  • Fuking A!!!!!!!! haven't heard this jam in so long!!!! this is an old school GEM!! Regina rocks!!!!!!!

  • Words... Don't mean so much to me... I'd rather wait and see... See what happens when the lights go down with your arms around me... Time, time t leave the world behind.. Save it for an0other time, cause I don't remember where I am when.. you start to.. love me!! Baby love baby love! Baby love! Just hold me! Baby baby sweet baby! Girl I hold you close to me, it's perfection 1st degree. Cause I don't remember where I am when you..m Move me! baby lo-ove oh baby lo-oooove! Such romantic perfection@

  • She and Alisha don't look like Madonna at all.

  • classic 80's!!! 8th grade all over in a good way!!! thanks for sharing track.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!

  • ssry mistake ,that was alisha :-)

  • regina was a girl who won a madonna look- a -like (looks and voice) contest in 1986.the prize was recording a single with steve bray.that's all there is to it

  • amazing

  • "Baby Love" was taken from Regina's Curiosity album, which also included "Say Goodbye," a song she had originally written with Kenny Rogers in mind. Regina remains a one-hit wonder on the Billboard Hot 100, but in addition to the #1 placing of "Baby Love," she saw three other songs hit the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart – "Beat of Love," "Head On," and "Extraordinary Love."

  • "Regina co-wrote "Baby Love" with frequent Madonna collaborator Stephen Bray; Regina wanted another person to sing the song, however her record label, Atlantic Records, told Regina to sing the song herself.

  • "Baby Love" was written by Stephen Bray, Regina Richards and Mary Kressler and produced by Stephen Bray.

The following text is taken from Wikipedia: Initially, Regina only wished to pursue success in the mainstream style as a songwriter, with the idea that her work as a performer would remain in an alternative music vein.

  • Madonna ripped off her style.

  • I'll take some sweet words, pop Pop beats and simplicity any day! Missing the 80's

  • When I first heard this song, I swore it was Madonna!

  • She is not a madonna wanna be regina wrote the song and offered it to madonna and madonna turned it down so she recorded it herself. And it sounds nice.

  • w00.. class of 88 here... the days of the Teen Dance clubs when I was comin up. I remember hearing this and I thought it was Madonna lol.

  • ..and all the madonna wannabees came out!

  • thought it was madonna when it first came out

  • @poohji80 Me too! I wish It was 1986..I was only 21 :(

  • oh man what a fuckin tune.,.....LOVED IT...Lotta ass back in the day with this..Class of 85.........

  • oh man what a fuckin tune.,.....LOVED IT...Lotta ass back in the day with this

  • 1986 I was only 5 but I love this song

  • @darlenejandjr i was only 7 my aunt loved it and played this on tape player

  • 1986! year I graduated from high school! good times!

  • I want the Apple IIc, that the guy has on his desk. :)

  • cant buy on i tunes :(

  • @PDW1218 :Try Amazon they have it

  • como la confundia con madona

  • I bet many of you (yesterday and today) first heard this and thought Madonna had another hit on her hands, right? Madonna's writer/producer (Steve Bray) penned this and she declined it so Madoona's dancer, Regina Richards, took it over and became an instant pop star off of Madonna's fame at that time. She had the sound and the look but once figured out, it didn't go too far. She doesn't perform anymore but she's married now with several children and lives in Texas now.

  • fucking love the 80s take me back there

  • @ted605 God I am with you there ! I loved the 80s MISS IT!!!

  • yea y'all i thought this was Madonna back in the '80s too.

I guess she was the Madonna for them too, didn't happen.

  • Wish they had it on ITunes

  • jane childs i think is her name, song is i don't wanna fall in love, i actually love that song...

  • If I have a time machine saturdays. Would be the best night to go clubbin...

  • I love the upbeat sound & lyrics...

  • HI I REMEMBER ANOTHER LADY THAT USETO SING TOO HER NAME WAS JANE CHILD AND I ALSO LOVE HER MUSIC TOO AND ONE OF THE SONGS THAT SHE SAND WAS I DONT WANT TO FALL IN LOVE AND THAT WAS A BIG HIT TOO SHE HAD A RING AROUND HER NOSE TOO

  • hi im sophia AND I REMMBER THIS SO MUCH I LOVE THIS SONG AND I STILL LISTEN TO IT TIL TIHS DAY IT SOUNDED LIKE A CLUB SONG I WAS IN MY TEENS AND IM OLDER NOW AND I USETO SEE THE VIDEO TOO

  • There was another 'white' girl who sang, sometime in 1985-86-87 or 1988, I can't remember her name but she did have one of those necklaces that attach to her nose, so I guess that would be a noselaces and she had a kind of modified mohawk hairdo-damn, can't recall her name but she was pretty good and had her own signature style.

  • @Khultan You are probably thinking of Jane Child, who gave us the 1990 smash hit "Don't Wanna Fall In Love."

  • @bigsbz Ha ha, yeah, that's her!! Thank you!!

  • Takes me back to the days of Skate Key in the Bronx.

  • I always liked this song.

  • 25 years ago "Baby Love" hits top 10....and everybody confused her voice with madonna's :o)

  • @ponnef tienes razon yo pense lo mismo se le parece la voz a madonna!!

  • Comment removed

  • @ponnef Your so right a lot of pepole got thease confuse, but still a great song

  • @ponnef True enough! I remember when this came out and thought it was Madonna for the longest time!

  • Regina was SO hot!

    Kinda like an 80's Snooki.

  • @WizardGlik

    are you nuts.

    Snooki has nothing on her.

She's more like a cross between Madonna vocally and Boy George style-wise.

Snooki just looks like an ugly, overly tanned version of Amy Winehouse.

  • Man, this is a lost treasure. I hate when I call one of these 80s radio stations and request this song, they have no idea what I am talking about. They don't know the artist or song. It is so sad. Regina had a classic voice and this song is 80s all the way. And thankfully we have youtube.

  • @JellyBean2144 Yeah, had the same problem in the mid1980s with KRQR live 105.3, those living douches claim they were on the cutting edge in music, so when I mentioned I wanted to request a Beastie Boys jammy, they had no clue what I was talking about.

  • I'll run into her one day here in Augusta...

  • Yes it sounds like Madonna because it was produced by John "Jellybean" Benitez

  • Oh how I love one hit wonders...

  • Where Madonna got her whole style and sound from.

  • @ECHO1YNN Madonna just stole a buncha shit from everyone. I once saw a jukebox that had Crazy For You and No More Words credited to Madonna. No More Words was a track from Berlin.

  • @ECHO1YNN ???? How could Madonna steal Regina sound when Madonna came first & this song was written for Madonna by her collaborator Stephen Bray for Madonna. Your claim sounds more than a little off. And if regina was the truth then where is she now?

  • This song is till a Hit after all of these year, what a classic song

  • omg i loveeeeeeeeeeee this song so much!!!!!!!!!!

  • eita como dancei essa musica....q saudades

  • Thanks for sharing!! Good old days!! Wow...great sound!! ;)

  • Regina Richards hit #10 in Billboard, 9-13-86. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • JUNIOR HIGH

  • Love this song!!! Just takes me back to the 80's every time I listen to it. :)

  • @ usamud it's on the album called Disco Box, Vol. 10: Solid Gold sold on amazon u won't find it on iTunes hope that helps

  • Now I am pissed off. I heard this jam on the way home today. I need it on my ipod, but this jam is not on i tunes. Damn!! I miss this 80's stuff.

  • @usamud You can also find it in the 80's club mix album.

  • @hotsumatheninja

Thanks! I bought it. I hated to spend that much money because I already have most of the songs on the CD. But..there are a few songs on the CD that I don't have and like. "Baby Love" made me justify the whole thing! Thanks again for the info.

  • i love this song yup angel rangel loves it classic....but so hard to find...

  • Love, love, love this song!!...always have and still effin do! It was actually written for Madonna (by Stephen Bray) but she passed on it. Regina unfortunately got cursed with not only sounding exactly like Madge but recording with her session band as well.

  • Sounds JUST like Madonna. I thought it was Madonna the first time I heard it back in the day.

  • Thanks for the post! Never knew there was a video for this classic!

  • Love this song from the best period of my life...

  • I agree Taichi29 we had fun in the 80's.........Oh there was always some trouble but not as much as today. What did we call it back then?????? "Holding up the wall"

I have heard that house music is making a comeback....That is a spin off from freestyle.

  • @jcarrasq20021 Back then the only trouble in house parties is when some fool got drunk.

  • this was a welcome change from hearing madonna non-stop Spring 1986. i would still listen to this if was on the car radio but it is a little embarassing.

  • @The096757 Consider it a guilty pleasure....

  • This was such good dancing music for me while I was visiting my friends at there AAA meetins and dances.

    Toute ma jeunesse !!!!

  • wow 25 years since this came out!great dance song.very cute in the vid Reg.

  • Finally found the song I was looking for.

  • OMG!!! I used to like this song. what happened with Regina?? sometimes her voice got confused with Madonna's when radio stations, back in that time, broadcasted both singers hits

  • dang, did anybody else think this was Madonna? all these years later, i find out

  • timbo baby laugh sample.

  • Your classic 80's roller-rink jam!!..Everytime I hear it just makes me wanna dance and take a Delorian back to the 80's...

  • @Vivvd yes this was a cool song i missi t so

  • Dont you just miss this time error. it just give such goose bumps

  • kinda early madonna like reminds of borderline.regina is my future x-wife!!! great vocals!!! high five!!

  • This is an old school jam!

  • love this song this was written for madonna but madonna said no so regina recorded it its great song

  • great stuff...I grew up in this time frame. the music isnt like it use to be.

  • What most people don't remember is that Regina used to write songs for Madonna. That's why they sound so similar. Regina was not a Madonna wannabe, Regina created Madonna's sound.

  • @TerminallyWhite Uh no she didnt!!!

  • @PopCulture20 Look it up.

  • @TerminallyWhite That is very incorrect indeed. Regina did not write sonmgs for Madonna. Regina was a song writer and this song was submitted for Madonna's approval and was turned down. Regina recorded it herself. Madonna wrote most of her own songs during that period. Cher even asked Madonna to write a song for her, which she declined to do. Regina did not create the "madonna sound"...stephen Bray et al contributed to the very generic sound of the 80's.

  • Sleek & soulful, Regina certainly gave Madonna a run for her money with this killer track, which still holds up rather nicely after almost 30 years. A shame she never got a chance to expand on her initial success, but at least her one-off was a dance classic.

  • Great Track sounds a little bit like Alisha's Baby Talk from 1985.

  • Good song.

  • Regina great song . Still love it.

  • Fantastic! We love it! Regina rocks! 80's forever! <3

    Xoxo

  • i was in high scholl and everyone was disco addict...this song always makes the dance floor crowded.

  • wow!!!!!!!!!!!!! I havent heard this in 4 ever! luvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv it!!! memories!

  • My older brother use to play this track when he use to dj back then and he still plays this track @ the club on 80'S night in L.A.! To me she was never a madonna wannabee at all just haters thats all....I would wanna do a track for her and see if she can sing.....Get at me Regina where ever your @.....

  • The 80's had a unique style even if it looked goofy. Today's artists lack that, they're too serious. They look like they aren't having any fun. The 80's was a blast!

  • @WildBill6942

its called corporate america. they lack substance and not wanting to take a chance.

  • This was one of my favorite songs when I was in Jr High.. God I miss this type of music....

  • @anitajustice Hey we are HUGE Regina fans... our new single is being compared to her and early Madonna. Check us out on facebook... Candy Apple Blue "All The Will In The World" It's totally retro madness! Peace out.

  • basically try to copy the voice of Madonna of the period 80

  • Cool jam. Was 9 when this came out i remember hearing this song alot on my grandaddys portable am fm radio. I got the radio after he passed away. i always kept it close. This song was on 24-7. Thought this was Madonna.

  • @MegaHardcore76

    Thanks for sharing the story.

  • still love this song...too bad she didnt have anymore hits!!

  • MADONNA?! lOool

  • Tragically, Regina died in a tragic house fire in 2007.

  • @MuscleJacker she's still alive....get your facts straight asshole

  • @MuscleJacker she didn't died, she's still alive. it was the other regina.

  • Brings backs memories of a local dance show in Baltimore called "Shakedown" on WJZ. Good Times.
