There's another quote from Mickey Rooney. The Japanese are interrogating him: "How many men, your soldiers?" He replies, "Including the European theater about 12 million." Lol! He almost stole the show. It's a good solid war flick.
That was one of my most favorite comments from a war film ... those potatos :) Ambush Bay didnt exactly receive rave reviews, but it remains a personal favorite from childhood.
Yes, I think your right. I wish the son here, would had been in more films down the road, but maybe the fact he looked like his father may had overshadowed his chance. You know he was just starting out, and most actors in their earlier films were not recognized, which is what I think happened here. I remembered the theme song on this war film years and years on to this day. The song was (forget composer), but he did several war films, and he did reuse this theme, in Heroes of Telemark. (1965)
@SupportingActor Hi Supporting :) Not to often you see this. That was me BayonetWarFilms. Yes they got me awhile back, only because my email linked to my other group with a copyright. The result.. all 4 of my channels went down. Good to find you again.

I think the only way to tell Robert Mitchum and James Mitchum apart is by the year of the movie!

It was a good flick and still holds up today. It should have given James Mitchum more recognition, but it didn't.

Jim Mitchum proved here that he wasn't just Robert Mitchum's son. Excellent performance from Jim in this one.
