Yeah, the bark beetle infestation spread all the way up there, too, as well as further West. And it's great not having other people on the trail. }:-}
It is an underground nuclear retreat mainly used durin the cold war by US officials and NATO, under a mountain consequently called « Iron Mountain ». It was (and maybe still is) then considered as the last "safe" resort in case of a nuclear attack, in wich sole survivors would thus be US officials.
