It screwed up my computer and now doesn't work any more.

It deleates all of the computer themes except for the windows classic theme.

@Fredekiko19971997 start in safetymode.. you do that by starting up your pc, right after the bootimage, spam F8 till you get the option to start in different modes. now chose: safety mode. when you are in there, you can remove it.

@axle61 use classic , run uxpathcer again and restore ur uxtheme.dll to original by patching again and use any style again. this messed me 2

So the whole process didn't work for me and I do not mind, I will just stick to the orange. But how do I undo whatever I have done? How do I uninstall that registry change that I did, how do I unextract the zune theme with all the files I extracted in it, etc?

I think i know the problem, the Patch wouldn't let me install it so i dno.

If i replaced the Zune file in

C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Zu­ne

Which is 1MB. with the one provided off the website which is 12MB. I get the colors list show, but the Zune theme dissapears to Nothing & messes up. :/

Any ideas ?

Don't under any circusmtances do this if you have SP3, it messes your system up big style.

If it isn't working (which it didn't for me) go to your C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Zu­ne\Zune and double click on the Zune.msstyles icon. The dialogue box will come up and you should have all the colors in the list now. Works for me anyway (sp3 using the sp3 patch)

What he has wrong is that his self-extractor for the color mod file must be extracted to /windows/resources/themes, NOT /windows/resources/themes/zune - because the /zune folder structure is already embedded in the self extractor.

Yes, it would be under zune themes, because his self-extractor appends the /zune directory to all extracted files. If you extract to /windows/resources/themes, it warns about overwriting files in /windows/resources/themes/zune­. This wouldn't be the case if it didn't extract to the zune directory.

1. Run replacer.cmd

2. Drag uxtheme.dll from /windows/system32 to the replacer window

3. Hit enter in the replacer window

4. Drag new uxtheme.dll from its location to the replacer window

5. Hit enter in the replacer window

6. Choose 'Y' to replace the file

7. Exit from replacer window and reboot

8. Be sure Zune theme is not currently active

9. Run Zune Theme Color Mod, browse the extraction path for Zune Theme Color Mod to /windows/resources/themes

10. Set theme to Zune,set color in properties.

Just follow th instructions on the vid.

With the installation, at says it has to shut down ur computer. Just let it do that.

When the comp has started agin, you'll see the themes are back! :D

One more thing.. I like most of the changes you've made. But I like the system-wide smaller, sharper font. You returned this system-wide font to the original size. How can I change the font size back to the unmodified zune theme size? Also, the colors for the left pane on like control panel or my computer (orannge in orig zune theme), how are those edited? I can't find the bitmap in reshack.

Thanks for this! The extraction needs to be done to 'themes', not 'zune'. Also, I had to get uxtheme for SP3. Everything else worked. However, I wanted a blue start button - but more of a metallic blue color - the same color blue that is used on globe in vista. The blue here is too pale. So, I used my second choice, noir. Maybe add a bunch of different blue shades to choose from? Thanks!

You're the first to get it... thank you. Service pack changes that. I didn't create this and this is the only tutorial I've ever done so sorry for shitty quality. But at the time I didn't know about the service pack problem. Also didnt realize i messed up a step. ok well the only way to make it work is to have some type of progam that lets you change themes in the first place such as windowsblinds, stylexp, or even tuneup utilities

you would need a different patch. people think this isn't working when it works fine. I've done it to multiple computers. People just don't understand the patch.

Also, you dont need a program like windows blinds or anything like that. the reason this is better is because programs like windows blinds run like shit and suck up a lot of ram. kthx everybody
