  • One of my favorite songs from the movie. Moves me.

  • Beautiful and inspirational.

  • Great!

  • 6 people play xbox in the morning

  • Every morning before i go for a run a give this song a listen.Im a fighter myself.

  • @AngryScotProductions I know right, all the nowa days songs dont work as well as these 70's and 80's tunes

  • memories never die ..

  • I remember my Hometown Salem OR. and the Ghetto Neighborhood where i lived in back in the 1993. Oh and the year i will never forget was the summer of 94 when me and two of my Heavy Metal Buddies went for a drive in my dad's 1989 Toyota Van. Now that we are going into 2012 i'm going to go visit the neighborhood where i used to live. I live in another city now. But memories that never die. They have told me it's depressing and sad now.

  • Melancholy yet hopeful...

  • 6 listeners are not morning people.

  • I awoke this morning at college in need of a song to start me up and get me through my day...I found this and couldn't have found a better song. I have always loved this. Cap'n Crunch isn't the same as raw eggs, but today it must be.

  • How can you not love this?

  • New York get the Bloody Money, What What

  • Everytime i visit my old neigborhod were i grew up as a kid this song plays in my mind while i see the flashbacks. My old neigborhood was once with life now its empty/lonely.. Its sad.

  • @AGZraider15 Your just like me . I Remeber back in the 90's i lived in my Hometown Salem OR. and it was full of life and joy and the best times. Now it's December 9, 2011 and when i go to visit Salem and the neighborhood where i used to live, the same duplex house is there and i remember back in the day it was VERY GHETTO. But it was full of life. And now it's lonely and very depressing. And i was a Heavy Metal Head i hanged out with 4 Metal Head Buddies. Now their gone, memories still live.

  • I want to go to Philadelphia just because of this song.

  • It was a cold morning. Rocky did not feel like getting up. But he got up. He warmed up. He stretched. He just kept going. Breathing in. Gettin' the circulation up for mornin' trainin'. The newspaper truck driver was gettin' started too.

  • What's interesting is I can actually imagine the sun rising over the buildings in Philly when I hear this song.

  • 5 Assholes are Justin Bieber's Fans

  • R.I.P headpone users

  • At 1:50 I always think about an exhausted Rocky running up the staris, he can barely move but there is no quiting until he gets up those stairs. Always brings a tear to my eye.

  • who or what is the god that goes by the title bill conti!?

  • This is the single motivation I have for getting up very early to go running in the morning , I even have the music on the MP3 player just in case.

  • 5 people have no sense of music or awesomeness.

  • without the bad language i feel u on this.

  • Your hear this music...and you can just close your eyes..and see the fog rolling under the Walt Whitman..as the sun rises over Camden...we have our songs in the area 'Philadelphia Freedom' 'Streets of Philadelphia' hell 'Gonna Fly Now' and they get us all fired up with pride...but this song..this one says. Home.

  • I was a little kid when Rocky came out. Of course I loved the movie and all the sequels, especially Rocky III. And I'm familiar with the music - who isn't? But is was just recently that I discovered how powerful that first film's soundtrack was.

  • I think when I get up early tomorrow, I'll go for a jog at around 5 in the morning and play this on my ipod.

  • ya know ive played football for 9 years now and every day befor a game around 5 in the morning id get up take the labtop outside play this this and get ready

  • Such an inspirational song not like Gonna Fly now or anything but just inspirational...

  • The Rocky movies are gread and the music is perfect

  • Makes me feel like I'm walking down some cold, lonely streets surrounded by red brick row-homes in my old neighborhood in Philly.

  • beautiful

  • When I wake up early enough to watch the sunrise, I play this.

  • So much space within this. Beautiful Composition. Bill Conti is the genius.

  • lindo lindo

  • The people who had those 5 dislikes should go kill themselves...

  • Time for a relaxing run...

  • There's only a few songs that make me want to cry, one being from The Shield called 'Long Time Ago' because I saw the finale the day I put my cat down, and this song because it's so perfectly composed. It means something to you, touching some sort of nerve within us.

  • <3 French Horn Solo :)

  • Cuts me up every single damn time. Totally moving.

  • Bill Conti, you are amazing. :D

  • Conti's music composition can move you like none other!

  • So sad but so great!

  • this piece is like reaching for something you want, but some times you have to stare it in the eyes before you can get it! and the fact you are reaching for while others have it tears at you, but you manage to keep moveing even if its not the best time for you!

  • @TheLoyalSpartanFilms Yeah, as I recall this is that touching scene where Rocky reads aloud to Adrienne and she tells him to "WIN". Unforgettable.

  • @cheapcape hate to a troll but o well. this music is from the scene where rocky goes running for the first time and doesnt make it to the top of the steps in rocky 1

  • Bill Conti, Ennio Morricone........1000 years gap......everyone else.

  • Beautiful music at its finest.

  • a very moving, gorgeous piece of music from a gorgeous soundtrack...still great after all these years! thank you, Bill Conti!

    THOSE ARE MACHO-TRAINING SONGS......

    but this....

    this.....

  • @monstervison I couldn't word this any better myself. I like your view on things.

  • @monstervison ah come on. I can appreciate "macho training songs" as much as mellow, heart-felt music. Expand your tastes

  • Drinking raw eggs in the dark early morning, getting ready to run on the freezing cold streets of Kensington, the only sound is the El train passing above with deafening silence in between. Philly all fuckin day!!!!!

  • @EastCoastDude99 After seeing ROCKY for the first time, in early 1977 I was completely blow away. Living in Philly only hyped it even more, and yes I drank raw eggs and ran through the dark streets of Philadelphia at 4:00am, even listened to WIBG-AM. PHILADELPHIA STAND UP !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • WHEN I HEAR THIS PIECE IT REFLECTS THE GOOD AND BAD TIMES THAT I WENT THROUGH ITS KINDA DEPRESSING BUT AT THE SAME TIME IT MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD.

  • The beginning of this piece begins slow and sad, and then it gradually become more light and happy by the end, kind of like how the film was.

  • la musica, la actuacion de sylvester y la historia perfecta hizo de esta pelicula la mejor q haya visto y pienso q todos piensan lo mismo

  • i dont know why but when im very sad i love listenning to this song

  • from 0.42 takes me to a place that i cant describe. My mind drifts into times of my life that upset me. ...Soundtrack of our lifes....

  • The best score for any film i have ever heard. Totally moved me this tonight, the whole rocky album and ive got to say, bill conti is a genius, up there with quincy jones, herbie hancock who created some of the best music for films that i love and cherish. TIMELESS and TRANCENDING.

  • In some ways this moves me even more than the main theme, Gonna Fly Now, does.

  • What is it about this great movie that touches us all so deeply? Saw it as a kid when it first came out but to watch it as an adult, I get so much more from it. The score from Mr. Conti is one of the best ever in movies, imo.

  • This track brings some dismay to me..

  • when i hear this i feel something that i can't type,

    it is : BeuatifuL

  • everytime i listen to this music..it gives me this feeling that however we live there's alot of things we still don't know about us and doesn't matter how old we get we can always make it over our limits..this music gives me that kind of feeling...

  • I love this song so much...

  • ooh man...every time i hear this song it gives me the creeps...some feelings never die...

  • The soundtrack would leave in my brain in my whole life.

  • Fantastic track... and soundtrack.

  • 3 people couldn't make it up the steps.

  • The best piece of music from all the Rocky movies I have ever heard! The very first Rocky movie has an innocence about it that none of the sequels has.

  • Am I the only one that plays this over and over again?

  • @ToanBigbear

    definitely not

  • @ToanBigbear no !! ;)

  • This is one of the best scores of all time, no doubt about it!

  • amazing! bill conti

  • Long after "Sly" is gone, he left us something that will never die, and will always inspire to help people's lives!!

  • @trojanluck88

Cont's music, Stallone's inspiration. That's why the Boxing Hall of Fame got it right last week by putting him in. Was he a boxer? No, but he gave boxing one helluva shot in the arm.

  • @roquey44 actually Stallone was a boxer at his time... nothing serious but he was

  • You sit up on the side of your bed, and think not only about the day, but about your life!!

  • Makes me want to eat some raw eggs

  • Philadelphia is beautiful

  • 1:50-1:57 = Capone - N - noreaga - Bloody Money sample.

  • @Juniversal

  • don't forget to feed Cuff and link

  • hearing this and being from philadelphia makes it really special...i lived right in the same area where this was filmed...i used to hang right near there...rocky lived on tusculum street off ruth

  • Kinda want some eggs in a glass or some Brisk Baby!

  • i hear Primo all over this 1

  • wow this is amazing. Takes me back to watching the only good Rocky movie.

  • epic!

  • I absolutely love and miss all of the "Great" Rocky movies! Including all the awesome soundtracks from each film..............."Yo Roc!"

  • difference between bums and champs: when bums are tucked inside warm blankets in cold winter morning and fast asleep, champs are already up and training

  • The beginning of this sounds very Copland-esque. Does anyone know what, if anything, was used for the temp track?

  • @IDontHoldTheTruth raw eggs are healthier, accept you have a risk of salmonella but thats for soft kids

  • Beautiful piece and loving the arrangement at 0:42. Just looking at this reminds me of when I was a kid. Who would ever think that Rocky's character would build, as it did. Very persuasive music!

  • This song always motivates me to always get back on my feet after life knocks me down.

  • greatest thing since jesus

  • Simply Breath Taking The Musical Arrangement on the original "Rocky" Soundtrack has the power to Motivate And Make U Want 2 Conqueror The Impossible!

  • I think of this song when I once had to walk home for 20 miles overnight.

  • @crcracker1 hey man i know this comment was from 4 months ago, but just curious, why did you have to walk home 20 miles overnight?

  • This is beautiful, it makes you think of all sorts of things

  • instead of raw eggs, drink a shake of NO - XPLODE BSN and then u´ll see the results :P

  • how can a early moning not be soo beautiful *dream*

  • A very beautiful day to start the morning in Salina, KS!!! Love Bill Conti!!! Carry On!!!

  • best soundtrack of all time

  • @Xeivous this and the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack---even Sly will tell you that---Staying Alive!...

  • A classic!!!

  • When I hear this, I really can't explain the emotions in me that can actually define this masterpiece.

  • @LemonsNLimes101 And I know exactly what you mean, even though you can't fully explain it. I wonder how many people "feel it" like we do.

  • I love this sound track

  • fantastic

  • You have to be a champ and very dedicated to get up each and every day and make it happen to the fullest!!

  • so deep, powerfull

  • Magnifique !!!

  • It's Vince DeRosa's horn playing that really makes this a winner!

  • Rocky Fans,

How many miles do you think Rocky ran in this scene? You must be motivated if you're waking up at quarter to 4 to run on the streets.

    10+ miles maybe?

I bet someone out there knows the answer.

  • @robintate its 5 miles to the rocky steps from his house and 5 miles back obviously so ii guess itd be 10 miles if he ran back home to

  • @lukeye0461 Cool, I was going to google maps it, but I figured I'd pose the question first...

10 miles... yeah.. to do that, I'd have to wake up at four too, then sh**,shave, shower, 9-5 thing, etc.

Rocky has a real heart. Wonder if any fighters out there truly trains like the way Rocky, or Bruce Lee or the other greats,

    Inspiring films; life changers

  • @robintate im lukeye0461:P and i train like that i am 15 and a amateur fighter(boxer) i train like rocky run at 4 in the morning then go to my small boxing gym where my trainer is a retired welterweight profeesional boxer he was ranked in the top 10 in his prime he trains me old school ways none of the fancy ways all old school throwing rocks spliting firewood etc heavy bag speed bag skipping shadow boxing sparring punching mits etc.

  • @AngryScotProductions

I'd like to train like that. I'm working in the Middle East right now, and I can't find a boxing gym, or a trainer. I gotta do what I gotta do on my own for now.. Good luck to you,

  • a lot of what inspired me to be a boxer is the story of Rocky and how it shows that everyone can Go The Distance if they really want to.

  • to the best sport ever

  • This part in particular is like a personal Soundtrack, I feel this very deeply.

  • close your eye's and hear this track and relax no more stress...

  • it makes me wonna get up nd drink eggs at 4 am nd jog through the city streets

  • sly will never die

  • @informatikhasser yes, what a Hero, what an artist, what a sensitive human - just look at his eyes...

  • queste musiche sono stupende.....stallone sarai e sei sempre il mio mito....tutta la mia vita....non morire mai....

  • This piece of music has always reminded me of an early Sunday morning.

  • If there's anything perfect in this world, it's the Rocky Soundtrack. Bill Conti... My respects go to you.

  • @paintisamazing317 ...Indeed!!...

  • @paintisamazing317 If there is something perfect in this world, It's not a movie soundtrack, lol.

  • sly is a legend but these tunes r all bill conti, he is a legend
