  • It posed as Kaspersky to kick dirt on it's reputation because it's jealous that kaspersky is the only one that finds it out of 40 engines. lol!

  • this crap simulates the interface of Kaspersky Anti-Virus, one of its earlier versions. lol.

  • Do you want to know a good way to get a rogue?

Check Giveaway of the Day, Feb 19, 2010.

Impressive how many users willingly downloaded that rubish.

The point is: you're the best security behind the keyboard. But most don't know what they're doing.

You are doing a wonderful job cotojo. Keep it up.

    Jose.

  • @jossmartins - I agree, even the major download sites have rogues ready for the unwary. The biggest danger is the user as they are ultimately responsible for what is downloaded and too frequently, willingly installed and purchased, effectively paying to infect their computers :-)

  • your absolutely right colin, this is rubbish and i think the intentions are clear with this garbage.and that is to ruin your computer.which makes this a truly malicious program.thanks for pointing this one out.all the best to you.

  • @MrArnold1972 - There are many like this around, and sadly many users also download the garbage and purchase it. Making users aware of what is real and what is dangerous can be hard going but security can be installed to block or remove suck programs at no cost :-)

  • isnt malwarebytes amazing.such a small program.light on resources and it found what everyone else missed.amazing.it uses something called shreuiken scanning or similar.i dont know what that is but it does the job anyhow.nice video cotojo ive protected my pc soundly due to your videos.all the best to you.

  • LOL THE ROGUE LOOKS LIKE JUST KASPERSKY

  • @2dayCA - Clone GUI designed to fool users into thinking they are downloading something linked to Kaspersky :-)

  • Great video cotojo. Thanks.

    Jose.

  • @jossmartins - Thanks Jose, it was a good find and easy removal which will benefit users who download this junk :-)

  • I can't seem to understand why Malwarebytes always does so well in malware removal. It seems impossible to me that a product relying on signatures and a little bit of heuristics can always do so well.

Is there some secret formula that we don't know of and Malwarebytes has? LOL! xD

  • @4DarkAces You're right. Malwarebytes is something special.

  • @4DarkAces - MBAM performs very well and is updated regularly with new removal definitions. From a number of scanners, MBAM was the only one to find it when tested on other machines with other malware removal tools :-)

  • good old malwarebytes i love it i have the pro version.

  • Comment removed

  • i am glad malwarebytes detects it

  • looks like kasperskey lol

  • @deadly1010P - Doesn't it just, and that's the scary bit as users will fall for lookalike rogues :-)

  • Thanks for the heads up on this rogue application.

  • @IncitingBadBehaviour - It was a lucky find while browsing for rogues and the similarity to Kaspersky is amazing, no wonder Kaspersky found it before others started to catch up and good old malwarebytes removed it :-)

  • wow this looks like kaspersky anyway nice find cotojo just another program to crash your pci hope more antiviruses will detect this

  • @elephantak - Yes it is very much like Kaspersky GUI. More and more rogues are taking the appearance of well known security programs to try and lure users and fortunately most antivirus /antimalware apps get updated in reasonable time to remove these parasites :-)
