this is kinda wierd. i don't think adults should do hansel and gretel, especially not opera.

that's just opinion though, she's got a brilliant voice

i did Hansel and Gretel and I played Gretel at 15 yrs old. The whole cast was under 18. The score isn't terribly difficult to sing and it's a lot more believable with younger ppl. I'm definitely with you on you comment. :)

Renethel, if you sang the original Humperdinck opera at 15, your teacher should be shot. No self-respecting singing teacher would allow a teenage voice to attempt any major operatic role, let alone one as demanding in range, length and vocal technique as Gretel. As for "the score isn't terribly difficult to sing", any properly trained professional operatic soprano will tell you it's one of the most challenging roles in the repertoire. Humperdinck's opera is not musical comedy, Miss Helfgott.

Totally agree with you. I'm only learning this now, and I'm 20. I couldn't have handled the string of high As and the final top D even a year ago. I know every voice is different, but I'm sure that it's not suitable for young voices.
