@azarel7 while my gripe is still going to be with the online network (they licensed GGPO, why the hell don't they use it already!!!). The game is definitely faster and you can win with anyone just focusing solely on foot games and mind games. Anytime I use Vega (claw) I usually just stick to normal pokes and aggressive throw loops and nothing else. You should watch Poongko videos, it was like SSF4 was meant for his insane playing style.
@Theocrooks oh yeah, when he uses Ryu he never picks the metsu Hadoken. But it's so funny to see him play Seth, he literally plays on the razor's edge unlike anyone else.
@azarel7 no. not old. that;s just the way it is. SF4>sf2 in gameplay, but lacking speed, it makes the game less interesting. THEY NEED TO ASS A FRICKING SPEED BUTTON!
I think SF4 is a little easier, in terms of the ease of input moves, damage scaling..
But I think ST is a little bit more exciting because
1) when you see a combo, you know its serious skill involved
2) You can't make too many mistakes because at whatever point you get hit with a combo, its not going to be scaled, so you can't be tooo defensive. Offense is rewarded more.
3) In general, higher quality players on these ST matches as compared to SF 4.
@azarel7 sf4 combos can be hella hard too. I would even say harder. 1 frame links? hella hard. I like being able to do longer combos and having focus. It adds more depth. you're right, maybe they shouldn't have damage scaling in 4
True, one frame combos are ridiculously hard. How Daigo gets those done so reliably in match play is beyond me
i guess they damage scaled for the reason that you mentioned, longer combos. If they didn't you might die quite early in the round. Plus it makes it newbie friendly. But the scaling takes away from the action.Super turbo rewards you more for the difficulty of the combo.More hits more damage and the better you have to play. Offense is definitely rewarded more.
Capcom softened the inputs for SF4. E.g, New DP motion is df,df. This is for people who couldn't do f,d,df. I have AE and HD Remix. You have to be much more on point to get long combos in that game as compared to SF 4. Check it out.
I'm just saying that these Japanese ST matches are more exciting than SF 4 because they are
@azarel7 I dont agree. I dont know anyone that uses the shortcuts. Plus they only shortcut DP, not other things, which there are a lot of. And in remix the combos are only 5 hits. and it's simple. weak, weak, weak, super move. How is that more on point?
Search for understanding input leniency on event hubs and you'll see what I mean
Secondly do a quick search on Youtube for ST combos. Alot of combos are more than 5 hits. I guarantee you that due to the input leniency in SF4, and the increased speed in ST, that the ST combos are more difficult.
@azarel7 ok right. They shorcut a couple things. I still think that longer combos requiring more inputs are going to be more difficult than st combos. Mix that with FADC'ing and you get long combos that still require precise timing. I dont think quickness is an issue really. I play marvel. IN PUT LENIENCY? I hope your not saying that they are lenient on combos, frame inputs mean exactly that. There is a number of frames that you have to do things.
In training mode sure. But in a real match you will FADC in one combo twice maximum. Any combo that long will generally be subject to scaling and won't be worth the meter.
So apart from FADC combos, you still have to be more precise on ST because the motions don't have short cuts. Game speed is an issue, but me saying so won't prove it. If you get a chance, play SF 4 and then HD Remix immediately afterwards and see how it goes...
@azarel7 also, if these are the combos that you're talking about, then I definitely think ssf4 combos are harder, especially adding the fadc factor. b hmm does youtube not allow lilnks?
@azarel7 wel if you look up "super turbo combos" and hit the "most viewed" function, the second and 9th videos seems like good vids, but still not as difficult as sf4. It really doesn't matter tho, cause marvel is the best game ever, AND has the most difficult combos between the three.
you are completely wrong. i'd say marvel has the easiest combos. in my opinion ST has the hardest timing. a longer combo with more inputs doesnt mean its harder.
@arkalberto you are completely wrong. I can walk into sf and hit one frame links, using plinking, hella easy. I assume that you didn't play marvel at any competitive level.
@arkalberto look in my channel bro. lol. I've probably won 10 tournaments of decent size in Portland , Oregon, went up to Seattle and played with the greats plenty of times, and go down to Fresno Daly once a year to play with the one and only Chris Schmidt.
Look in my channel for the latest Schmidt vids and you'll see me beat him for money. (finally :] ) Arguing is lame. I need to get better at not doing it. I was just annoyed when you came in and said "you are completely wrong",
@Theocrooks I really don't see how this is a debate. (S)SF4 is way easier than ST. With plinking and double plinking and negative edging, doing even the supposed hardest combos (1 frame links which are really 2 frame links because the game runs at 60FPS) is easy because you can get 3 chances at it. Longer combos mean nothing if the inputs have too many easy shortcuts. Also, FA is a simplified version of SF3 parries. Its no wonder why most pros (and Capcom themselves) say SF4 is a easier game.
All fighting games run at 60fps. what the hell? Plinking gives you two chances at 1 frame links in sf4. That being said SF4 does have more lenient inputs but having to get 1 frame links on your BnB's is silly.
@azarel7 One two of the other points I can see why the Japanesse matches would be more exciting. Faster paces plus rewarding offense. Definitely not more tech skill I do still think that you dont watch that much sf4 tho, as you only were excited by Daigo footsies, and not LOTs of other players.
I like SF4 but the only SF4/SSf 4 games that I've seen that are as action packed and as creative as these old ST games are Daigo vs Momochi Nagoya Street Battle. Ryu vs Ryu. All action, mindgames, footsies from start to finish. Sweet stuff!
Aniken at his best... ARG demolished ShootingD .... Aniken carried them on single handedly.

@azarel7 You dont watch that much sf4 do you? There are lots of good players out there right now.
plus how is a 5 hit combo skill? It doesn't take that much skill to execute the combos in that game. 5 hits is nothing.
