@ideoteqa the video explains the song. it's weird but, basically surfing on a rocket is how people feel when they power trip. that's why the money and gasoline is there, representations of power and control. The sargent with the female legs is representing how he enjoys the war, so it's almost a sexual thing because he gets off on it. it's all metaphors.

Thanks - But I don't think we should "look past" the images so much as we should look right at them and then interpret them. That is the point of symbolism after all...to be interpreted. This video came out in 2004, when the world was still reeling from the new Middle East conflict with the US...and this is a French group, it's pretty obvious to me that this has anti-war sentiment.

The song may have multiple meanings of course...

I don't think some of the viewers here understand the imagery in the video. I don't think the video sucks at all. I don't know how better they could illustrate their point than they do with the imagery in this vid. I love it. They are commenting on how war is fed by greed and the lust for power. Obviously this was inspired by the current Iraq conflict, but the message is rather timeless and universal.
