The final episode, somewhat fitting, really - Bernard has learnt everything his sometimes-mentor, sometimes-detractor Sir Humphrey and uses it to take the pompous mandarin down a few pegs while simultaneously ingratiating himself with Hacker, and not only that, but he manages to pull it off without Sir Humphrey even knowing he did it.
Good on you, Bernard. We unfortuantely won't see more of your exploits, but I can tell you'll go far in this job.
I come back every few months for a fix of yes PM one of the best bbc comedys of all time and i wonder why they cant make modern comedy of this callibre, the budget must have been quite small few actors few sets just great writing, cmon bbc sort it out. . . . . Great post enlightened one cheers. . . .
Much kudos "Enlightened monk" - I lived in the antipodes during the airing of YM and YPM, only saw the occasional ep on videos, truly at the pinnacle of British comedy. Hope the beeb reruns them from the beginning. KUTGW
Humhphrey should have been sacked! He had the audacity to openly threaten the PM to reveal about the bugging incident to the Cabinet. It shows how unfaithful and two sided he is!!!
Yes ! Thank you for uploading this FANTASTIC series. I have been laid up with a broken foot and these episodes have saved my sanity !!!!! thank you !!!!!
I beg to differ. Humphrey was but an abecedarian in the field of 'radio interviewing' - if recollection serves me rightly, having never before participated in one during any particular episode prior - thus hubris effectuated his declension.
I always have this image of Hacker copying the tape for himself and sitting at home listening to it every now and then just for pure enjoyment!!

"Maybe he hasn't heard that you live in abject poverty on 81000 a year."
The line is so perfect, and the delivery takes it even further.
Only one of the reasons I've adored YM and YPM since I was 7 years old. :)

And Humphrey gets reduced to a gibbering, loquacious wreck, his logic fully twisted around and exposing him for the power-hungry snake he really is.

I like the fact that they ended the series with a small victory for the minister.
A bit of a deus ex machina though, that Sir Humphrey would talk that straight. Especially to a reporter.
Thanks for uploading this fine series.
Greetings,
