  • @Performerx43 the Key is C and the opening interval is a fifth from A6-D7. MM 142 starts at :42 in the part two video. Good luck!

  • this song reminds me of the ibert concerto.

  • an impressively awesome piece

my flute teacher tells me that this is one of the pieces i will learn last from her because it's crazily difficult

  • @performerx43 That is not a good idea. This piece is VERY difficult.

  • I have some technical important questions: a. what time and key signature is this in?, b. can anyone tell me what track numbers include mm 142-60, and c. does it start on the note of the key signature? I need this specifically for an audition, and I really dont have the money to get a score, so I'm doing this purely by ear. If anyone could help, that would be awesome.

I think that's a bad idea. This is a highly difficult piece even for professionals.. The panel is going to know this piece very well, and they will know exactly how accurately you are playing, without learning from the (sheet) music, it's highly likely that you won't be able to learn this piece accurately or understand it fully when playing it. You'd be better off mastering something you already own; that will impress the panel more than Nielsen played badly.

  • @yanpan16 I understand. Fortunately, however, I was looking at another summer program by accident. The program I actually want to attend is a two-week summer session, for which I need to prepare a few exerpts. However, on their list of requirements for the bigger summer program, they listed several movements form Nielsen. Not only is it interesting that they require a specific concerto, instead of letting you have your own choice, but I also had a hard time finding the piece anywhere.

  • maybe someone has C.Nielsen flute concerto record with E. Pahud Berliner Philharmoniker and Sir S. Rattle?

  • This flute concerto is pariculary impressive, I liked it from many years ago. From I was almost a child.

  • Thank you for this video. It is a pleasure to be able to hear the work of Nielsen so

well performed by this outstanding musician James Galway. It has many years ago that I say Galway in a live performance at Chautauqua.

  • un génie ce James Galway! superbe interpretation!

  • Beautiful, beautiful, very beautiful!!

  • very beautiful! i love classical music : )

  • The late Robert Simpson called this the finest flute concerto ever written and added "what else is there to compare it with?"
