Its the most beautiful movie i have ever seen. I have to rate it up there with Jacob's Ladder and Donnie Darko. If you want cheap gore and shitty plotlines, look elsewhere.
Kinda looks less like a horror movie and more like a creepy art flick of payment for past misdeeds, sorta like The Fountain meets Ju-on(fuck the american remake), but that is simply what I get from the trailer, not from the film itself. Let's hope it's as scary as everyone says it is.
Excellent! one of the best period films made in the last 20 years! I was captivated by every scene. The wardrobes were well designed, the lighting illustrates the mood of the film with great detail. All in all a film that will stand out in my mind for years as a true Horror film, terrifying through and through. Nostrovia!!!
"if you didnt get it then you have to say its a 'masterpiece' or else youre stupid". great movie that could have followed through to the end, instead of that common in artsy films intellectual intimidation of confusing the hell out of the viewer.
I watched it today, and i can tell the ones, who haven't seen it yet: It is similar to Stalker movie. U must think, u must be patient, after watching it, u can sit and think again what the hack happened. :)
To anyone who is interested in watching the movie: It's a surreal horror, so if you expect some slasher stuff or some kind of a Ring ripoff, you're not gonna like it, and there is very little violence. Also, the movie is very slow, and it takes a while for anything to happen. However, after about 30 min in the movie, things do become weirder and scarier, to the point that the last two minutes of the movie are so fucked up, you're gonna stare at the credits saying 'What the fuck just happened?'
While this movie had some shortcomings in the plot, it had a tremenduous atmosphere, amazing cinematography and superb acting! Definitely worth a watch!
could someone pleeeeeeease tell me the name of the song during this trailer ? It's so sad and powerful at the same time I fell in love with it ! And the movie is my favourite finnish movie so far ! :)
spoilers people! they find a creepy house full of fucked up relics, they lock the village elder in the house moments later just dies,....fuck this house and they burn it to the fucking ground!...respect!......why do they not do this in every haunted house movie???!!..
best horror movie I have ever seen.......really creepy, again yeah very few movies have atmosphere,I like a movie that takes its time builds up the tension in its own way, its very silent hill like
@0iNV oh, no. well I guess in a way u can call a human that's insane a monster. but what I meant wuz monster/s like aliens or something. u know monsters lol
@UncleMcCrustyPoo Well, actually the word "Sauna" is finnish hence Sauna is Finnish invention. We have the right to get Fucking Terrifying there in every once in a while.
Brilliant...Brilliant movie, and I say this as a dirty American. The horror that is being produced by most countries across the pond should embarrass the directors in my country. Those of you making references as to whether the movie is scary or not are missing the point. The evil that is physically manifested as monsters is not what is supposed to be scary, but what they actually represent.

Watched this today...I liked it! Awesome Finnish movie. Camera angles, colours and soundeffects are just great. Maybe script is not so well done, but it just so beautyful
What? Is this really a Finnish film? I do not really hold the Finnish cinema, although I am Finnish. I thought I suppose ...
Ihme juttu... Englannin kieliset kirjosanat kuulostavat paremmilta xD
This is one of the most chilling horror movies I've seen in a while, along with the first half of Pandorum and it's felling of isolation.
Although I thought it was good, it could have been so much better. You never really get to know the characters in this movie, except Eerik. And the plot doesn't really stick that well together, there's too many questions left unanswered. Not that it is a bad thing keeping some things a mystery, but you get no answers at all in this movie.
This is probably the best movie i've seen from 2008. Bleak, gritty, dark, depressing and sometimes seriously frightening. Darkness executed in a beautiful way, I STRONGLY recommend it!
Yeah! go Finland! I love a good scare and this flick seems nice. I have never seen a Finish film actually. Maybe someone can give me tips of other good films from Finland? Dont have to be horror films. Whatever really. Aslong as they have a good story I can watch anything.
@Nephilim2001 Personally as a Finn I think we don't have loads of good movies worth to watch, but I loved "Tummien perhosten koti" ("Home of the dark butterflies"), directed by Dome Karukoski who's propably the best finnish director in my opinion. I think his production's amazing : )) There are many others too, but that one is my sure favourite. Sauna was allright, tho it could've been better too after all of the expections people had for it, I guess. : D Greetings from Finland xx
Just watched it... magnificent. Not a moment of rest. I found that the horror was mostly contextual and philosophical, instead of visual, although the last part of the movie is just incredible. Brutal, dark and cold. This norse people really know how to make good, meaningful films. Gotta keep an eye on them! D.R.
I think you should look for the soundtrack or score... that song should be there... and true that... Finnish is a beautiful language... and what i've heard from a foreigners point of view it's tricky as fuck :D i'm glad I'm finnish, because i'm not much of a linquist... it would be impossible for me to learn this language... :D Terveisiä suomesta (greetings from finland)
Finland was'nt some random slave market dumpster in the viking ages why do you think swedish vikings did'nt have any properties in finland even thought it was under constant pressure of the vikings? becouse they could'nt establish anything without getting killed here. That's just something you and us are'nt told on our history classes becouse some jerks think the time of swedish rule is so much more important then the time when finnish land was the land of our tribes
I saw this movie at the Roskildefestival 09. One of the scariest films ever, chilled me to the bones and still does... really impressive how much you can accomplish with just blood, darkness and gloomy landscapes!
Stop posting off the topic threats and comment the video, you fucking cunts... don't care where you live...
And yeah, should get this movie somehow, to see what Finns can do in the horror-genre, cause most of the finnish movies are dramas and I'm not so into dramas, cause they are mostly deeply depressing films, mostly the finnish ones especially. So yeah, I can't wait to see this film :)
Really? i dont know any norwegian patriots, i know alot norwegians hating their own country, swedes like you are pathetic historians thinking they are part of something great, sweden isnt get, can't u just get that in your braindamaged head, you fucking
the trailer dosent do the movie justice

ONCE AGAIN PEOPLE OF YOUTUBE!
