  • the trailer dosent do the movie justice

  • Its the most beautiful movie i have ever seen. I have to rate it up there with Jacob's Ladder and Donnie Darko. If you want cheap gore and shitty plotlines, look elsewhere.

  • sauna

  • Miten olis jatko-osa? Sauna 2: Löylyä lissää

  • Looks interesting.

  • This is a VERY underrated horror movie! I loved it so much! <3

  • A movie from Finland, evidently written, directed, and acted by the 12 people who actually live in Finland.

  • Kinda looks less like a horror movie and more like a creepy art flick of payment for past misdeeds, sorta like The Fountain meets Ju-on(fuck the american remake), but that is simply what I get from the trailer, not from the film itself. Let's hope it's as scary as everyone says it is.

  • AWESOME!

  • IIRO HOI

  • "Alright, cool. Let's watch this trailer."

    *puts on headphones, clicks play*

    *eyes open*

    "WARRGGHHHLLSAKJDSAJDAJDSAPHHREHHH!!" *freaks the fuck out*

    ...

    Wow. I feel lame.

  • Hahaa Suomalainen elokuva :)) itse olen suomesta... :)

  • This was one of the best horror films I've seen in a while. Can anyone recommend another like it?

  • Damn, i hoped for some hot chicks in a sauna getting slaughtered. Now this is disappointing...

  • @Grafzaaiers

    Welcome to Finland, mate.

  • Excellent! one of the best period films made in the last 20 years! I was captivated by every scene. The wardrobes were well designed, the lighting illustrates the mood of the film with great detail. All in all a film that will stand out in my mind for years as a true Horror film, terrifying through and through. Nostrovia!!!

  • pelottV leffa

  • "if you didnt get it then you have to say its a 'masterpiece' or else youre stupid". great movie that could have followed through to the end, instead of that common in artsy films intellectual intimidation of confusing the hell out of the viewer.

  • I watched it today, and i can tell the ones, who haven't seen it yet: It is similar to Stalker movie. U must think, u must be patient, after watching it, u can sit and think again what the hack happened. :)

  • @LiamaKacsa Great Movie!

  • To anyone who is interested in watching the movie: It's a surreal horror, so if you expect some slasher stuff or some kind of a Ring ripoff, you're not gonna like it, and there is very little violence. Also, the movie is very slow, and it takes a while for anything to happen. However, after about 30 min in the movie, things do become weirder and scarier, to the point that the last two minutes of the movie are so fucked up, you're gonna stare at the credits saying 'What the fuck just happened?'

  • While this movie had some shortcomings in the plot, it had a tremenduous atmosphere, amazing cinematography and superb acting! Definitely worth a watch!

  • this movie made no sense...

  • i dont gets why its name is sauna?

  • @UncleMcCrustyPoo Do you know that sauna means same in finnish and we in finland love to go to sauna

  • @kiivari999 öhm.. sauna o suomalaine keksintö

  • Sauna trailer

  • Sauna trailer

  • could someone pleeeeeeease tell me the name of the song during this trailer ? It's so sad and powerful at the same time I fell in love with it ! And the movie is my favourite finnish movie so far ! :)

  • Looks great.

  • must find on Netflix...

  • eh this movie seems to slow and technical not my taste

  • KETONENN

  • spoilers people! they find a creepy house full of fucked up relics, they lock the village elder in the house moments later just dies,....fuck this house and they burn it to the fucking ground!...respect!......why do they not do this in every haunted house movie???!!..

  • best horror movie I have ever seen.......really creepy, again yeah very few movies have atmosphere,I like a movie that takes its time builds up the tension in its own way, its very silent hill like

  • @23shakey23 I hope you're referring to the fantastic games and not the appalling film adaptation!

  • Looks quite disturbing

  • This is like not going in the sauna for a very long time. MontrealSauna.ca

  • where's the monsters? can't have a movie without monsters.

  • @TheEXpothead Did you miss 0:50?

  • @0iNV oh, no. well I guess in a way u can call a human that's insane a monster. but what I meant wuz monster/s like aliens or something. u know monsters lol

  • Visuaalisesti hieno elokuva, mutta juoni täysin olematon.

    Niinku kauhuelokuvilla on tapana

  • i didnt get the movie at all , the only thing they talk about is the border line between russia and sweden , sorry i just didnt get it

  • Haluan nähdä tämän : D

  • This movie really lives up to my expectations of what it is like in Finland. The holy land!

  • i dont understand this nigga movie -.-

  • @ChannelDENNiiSNiico why would you say that? jerk

  • Is this russian ?

  • Kari MITÄ SÄ TEET? Puhuuko se venäjääkin :D

  • pretty good film this. 4 stars.

  • pretty good film this. 4 stars.

  • @FinnishFool24 a finn and a russian went to war.

    the finn died.

  • In English Sauna means a room full of steam where sweaty old guys hang out, in Finland it apparently means Fucking Terrifying

  • @UncleMcCrustyPoo Well, actually the word "Sauna" is finnish hence Sauna is Finnish invention. We have the right to get Fucking Terrifying there in every once in a while.

  • @UncleMcCrustyPoo if you see "sauna" from wikipedia you understand that for us finns, Sauna means lot more than hot room full of steam...

  • @UncleMcCrustyPoo Actually, the steamy room "sauna" came from Finland :D

  • I just saw this movie - incredible!!!

  • Brilliant...Brilliant movie, and I say this as a dirty American. The horror that is being produced by most countries across the pond should embarrass the directors in my country. Those of you making references as to whether the movie is scary or not are missing the point. The evil that is physically manifested as monsters is not what is supposed to be scary, but what they actually represent.

    Please more!

  • Mind = Blow

    I got to see this.

  • täss leffas ei ollu mtn tolkkua O:

  • @duppedoore varmaa kukaa ei tajuu mitä tos lukee :D

  • Not so scary movie. Btw... The leading actor looks like Hitler. :DDD

  • It kinda gives me the same fibe as Andrei Tarkovsky's Сталкер (In English: Stalker). That one was insanely underrated in my opinnion.

    youtube.com/watch?v=OfowVslQBQk

    Have to check this out.

  • i dident like the ending at all!

  • they also speak russian language ...

  • i watched this movie and i have to be honest. it did not scare me at all, i guess i expected something a lot more scary.

  • This film looks terrible, can't belive you all like this.

  • Wow. I wish I could find this movie!

  • definitely deserves more acclaim than it has gotten so far! this is such a great film! very creepy and atmospheric. However in the trailer I don't remember the last scene when he was saying look at the beautiful day. did I miss it in the movie?

  • Odotin kyl enemmän tältä leffalta... Ja loppu ei ollu mikään paras...

  • Never seen such a roleplay before and I can say I've seen a large number of GOOD movies. It's not the horror of it that gave me nightmares, but the way they live those characters. This is a Masterpiece!BRAVO,finno-ugrics.Best congrats and salutes from Romania

  • ooommmgg this is like the best film ever ! I love it.

  • Whats the movie about?

  • I want to know what he says (in Russian) at the end, with the English subs "Look at the beautiful day, Vasili Jermolajevitsh" :/. I hear "posmotri", but then I lose it from there ._.

  • @Mrparris

  • @11vivisection11 Thank you, Russian person on the internet! :D

  • Im not russian, im swedish/finnish. But i have google translate. :P

  • what a great movie! great story, great actors, great score....but it´s not a horror movie. more of a surreal ant-war movie with some horror elements.

don´t expect splatter trash and take some time to think about it (i watched it three times and still haven´t fully understood it). highly recommended.

thanks finland, sweden, russia or whoever

  • oli kyllä varsin paska leffa

the movie was pretty shitty in my opinion

  • *headdesk*

Quit the shit, Sauna is excellent offstream horror (ehm) movie, finnish or not.

  • this film is bad! dont look!

Der Film ist der größte Scheiß!

  • freaky gay shit

  • Very artistic and personal movie, loved it. Highly Recommended.

  • Comment removed

  • @HerccuPoiroo tarkotin siis mm kisat

  • This was a nice movie, although I had a problem understanding some parts of the story.

  • saw this movie a while ago ... and i have to say it : it's one of the best horror films i've seen in years .

excellent soundtrack , scenery , directing and ....

    all in all it's a great movie - image and sound-wise .

  • Watched this today...I liked it! Awesome Finnish movie. Camera angles, colours and soundeffects are just great. Maybe script is not so well done, but it just so beautyful

  • What? Is this really a Finnish film? I do not really hold the Finnish cinema, although I am Finnish. I thought I suppose ...

Ihme juttu... Englannin kieliset kirjosanat kuulostavat paremmilta xD

  • This is one of the most chilling horror movies I've seen in a while, along with the first half of Pandorum and it's felling of isolation.

Although I thought it was good, it could have been so much better. You never really get to know the characters in this movie, except Eerik. And the plot doesn't really stick that well together, there's too many questions left unanswered. Not that it is a bad thing keeping some things a mystery, but you get no answers at all in this movie.

    Anyways, 8/10

  • paska elokuva ei kanata kattoo

  • this is a beautiful movie... i love the atmosphere and the places... its one of my favorites

  • i really like this movie is soo good

  • there is not any saune there .(

  • its literary meant for that white building i think

  • This is probably the best movie i've seen from 2008. Bleak, gritty, dark, depressing and sometimes seriously frightening. Darkness executed in a beautiful way, I STRONGLY recommend it!

  • This looks awesome :)

Fins need to make more horror movies!

  • häh:D onko tää jo olemas mitä vittua

  • bull shit

  • Dont really understand the jabbering of those who dont know finnish or russian. Theres english subtitles on its dvd.

  • Finnish. No english version, unless you count one with english subtitles as one.

  • Tromsø International Film Festival is showing this movie this week:D

  • I'd watch it if it was in English...now I'm not as inclined.

  • @oohheck73 Your loss, man! May I ask where you're from?

  • new zealand

  • Your comment was so imperialistic I mistook you for a yankee :-) I'd still give it a go, English or not. Expand your horizon! Have a nice day, sir!

  • Mmm, I'm not up for the big subtitle read myself.

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah! go Finland! I love a good scare and this flick seems nice. I have never seen a Finish film actually. Maybe someone can give me tips of other good films from Finland? Dont have to be horror films. Whatever really. Aslong as they have a good story I can watch anything.

  • @Nephilim2001

    Vares, Vares 2.

  • @Nephilim2001 You should watch Talvisota (The Winter War), directed by Pekka Parikka. One of the best war movies ever.

  • @Nephilim2001 Jade Warrior, Talvisota (Winter War), Muukalainen (The Visitor)

  • @Nephilim2001 Personally as a Finn I think we don't have loads of good movies worth to watch, but I loved "Tummien perhosten koti" ("Home of the dark butterflies"), directed by Dome Karukoski who's propably the best finnish director in my opinion. I think his production's amazing : )) There are many others too, but that one is my sure favourite. Sauna was allright, tho it could've been better too after all of the expections people had for it, I guess. : D Greetings from Finland xx

  • @PhelpsAreHot Rare Exports on myös ihan jees : D

  • wow...this looks epic... magnificient trailer....must find this movie...now...

I love foreign horror films (especially it they're slashers) and this could be a nice addition to my collection.

  • then you should watch a norwegian horror movie called

"fritt vilt" 1 and 2. you should realy watch both!

  • @sigking36

dude, THOSE MOVIES ARE THE ONE THAT GOT ME HOOKED ON FOREIGN SLASHERS! XD I OWN BOTH!!!

  • CooL!

  • Probably you should write Cold prey 1 and 2 ;-) cause they came out with this title

  • what is the name of the music?

    mikä on musiikin nimi?

  • Just watched it... magnificent. Not a moment of rest. I found that the horror was mostly contextual and philosophical, instead of visual, although the last part of the movie is just incredible. Brutal, dark and cold. This norse people really know how to make good, meaningful films. Gotta keep an eye on them! D.R.

  • Wow, a lot of bashing over here...

Anyway, I loved the movie, even though I know very little about the history behind it.

  • Mikä on nimi Musiikia?

Great movie! I love the Finnish language!

  • I think you should look for the soundtrack or score... that song should be there... and true that... Finnish is a beautiful language... and what i've heard from a foreigners point of view it's tricky as fuck :D i'm glad I'm finnish, because i'm not much of a linquist... it would be impossible for me to learn this language... :D Terveisiä suomesta (greetings from finland)

  • Mikä on mina Musiikia?

  • Also, everyone stop mocking other nations and start looking the world without your patriotic eyes.

Every country has pros and cons.

Back to the actual topic: This movie is brilliant and thrilling. A great watch!

  • WHO FCKIN GIVES A DAMN WHICH IS BETTER, FINLAND OR SWEDEN? eventhoughtfinnishisthemostbeautifullanguageindawholeworld<3

That's all I can say, lol.

Aaand this movie looks scary, holy shit. gotta watch it!

  • @xiHeartMoney i agree, wats the point with hatred, we all know that FINLAND KICKS SWEDENS ASS! nah but i like both i live in Sweden

  • @xiHeartMoney What you think? Even Finnish gays moves into Sweden.

Nowdays Finland is fucked up but its allways better than Sweden.

  • @xiHeartMoney norwy metal rules!!!

  • @xiHeartMoney you're not serious, are you? swedish is way more beautiful than finnish :)

  • @bnabnabnabna everyone have their own opnions, sweetheart <:

  • @bnabnabnabna Danish pwns both lol!

    Seriously, does it matter?

  • @xiHeartMoney Its FInland.

  • @xiHeartMoney thanks, im finnish ;D

  • looks beautiful

  • watch it online here divxon.blogspot . com/2009/12/sauna-2008.html

  • This was a great film... beautifully bleak and the imagery so very strong.

  • super film, polecam ;)

  • hahaha :D i dont think so... it just looks like it

  • Bleakest horror film ever, yet fantastic.

  • I have to watch this show!

  • Looks awsome!

  • Tämä genrekysymys on kieltämättä vähän vaikea Saunassa. Kyllä itse pitäisin tätä aika lailla kauhuelokuvana. Yllättävän peloissani ja jännittynyt olin, varsinkin Knutin puolesta. Hienoja tunnelmia, hienoja säikäytyksiä.

  • jaskamakkara - Your comment could not have bored me more

  • Hei

  • Ma pičku vam svima treba razbit

  • hahahahaha

  • i watched it before 1 hour and it's not so interesting, but if you have free time

  • Finland was'nt some random slave market dumpster in the viking ages why do you think swedish vikings did'nt have any properties in finland even thought it was under constant pressure of the vikings? becouse they could'nt establish anything without getting killed here. That's just something you and us are'nt told on our history classes becouse some jerks think the time of swedish rule is so much more important then the time when finnish land was the land of our tribes

  • So every gets killed in a rickety trailer?

  • kyllä suomalaisetkin osaa tehä leffoja.

  • very good movie, i underestimated it but at the end i thought it was very nicee

  • Very good movie!!!

  • I saw this movie at the Roskildefestival 09. One of the scariest films ever, chilled me to the bones and still does... really impressive how much you can accomplish with just blood, darkness and gloomy landscapes!

  • HYVÄ SUOMI \,,/

  • Which probably means you didn't understand it.

  • How is it crap?

  • ONCE AGAIN PEOPLE OF YOUTUBE!

Stop posting off the topic threats and comment the video, you fucking cunts... don't care where you live...

And yeah, should get this movie somehow, to see what Finns can do in the horror-genre, cause most of the finnish movies are dramas and I'm not so into dramas, cause they are mostly deeply depressing films, mostly the finnish ones especially. So yeah, I can't wait to see this film :)

  • this ain't goddamn transformers dude

  • Hooray you have won this months most random comment award, enjoy it you spammer. And about the movie does enyone know if you can warez it somewhere.

  • was this film showed in american theaters???

i never excepted that to happen :F

  • Loool can't believe you look up to the fucking vikings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I dont look up to the vikings, Its just a part of Scandinavian History. And i like their way of taking care of the nature.

  • Really? i dont know any norwegian patriots, i know alot norwegians hating their own country, swedes like you are pathetic historians thinking they are part of something great, sweden isnt get, can't u just get that in your braindamaged head, you fucking
