i am a muslim woman, and i do not regularly cover my face, but in the past election jus tbefor i went into the building to vote, i put on a niqab, all that happened was 2 elections canada WOMEN, took me to a private room, then i pulled down my niqab, and showed them my pasport, as proof of who i was, then i put the niqab back on, and i was taken to the place where i got my ballot, and they said they dont need to check my ID, as i was already varified, i did this only to test the law, no problem

Alright, wearing a Nighub or Burqa would prevent the voting official from properly identifying the individual however once her vote is casted, even if she hand out her ID card to other women who cover their face, the official should have no trouble realizing the same name is voting at the designated voting station. That aside, one solution could be that the women can remove their face cover behind a close door to a female official, hence being identified properly.

i am a muslim woman, and i do not regularly cover my face, but in the past election jus tbefor i went into the building to vote, i put on a niqab, all that happened was 2 elections canada WOMEN, took me to a private room, then i pulled down my niqab, and showed them my pasport, as proof of who i was, then i put the niqab back on, and i was taken to the place where i got my ballot, and they said they dont need to check my ID, as i was already varified, i did this only to test the law, no problem

Alright, wearing a Nighub or Burqa would prevent the voting official from properly identifying the individual however once her vote is casted, even if she hand out her ID card to other women who cover their face, the official should have no trouble realizing the same name is voting at the designated voting station. That aside, one solution could be that the women can remove their face cover behind a close door to a female official, hence being identified properly.

I say welcome to Canada! here are the rules/laws and culture/traditions. we tend to like hockey and other winter sports, Christmas and other (usually Christian) holidays, and all sorts of good food from the 4 food groups. I'm not going to force any of it on them, so i don't expect them to force ANYTHING on us. I'm proud to be Canadian and our culture/traditions. This is what its like in Canada, ACCEPT IT OR LEAVE!

I was an election worker a few times in an immigrant-dense neighbourhood in Europe. I had some pretty crazy copnflicts with muslim men, who insisted on entering the booth of their viwes....which is strictly against the laws.

(It helped, that I am almost two metres tall, have a beard and look like a viking :-))
My guess is they wanted to enter, to make sure, the women voted as per their instructions. They would often stand with the ballot in the hand, showing the missus where to put the cross - which is also aganst our electoral laws.
