  • John Pike makes $116,000 - more than many of the faculty. That's who we reward in America.

  • The Chancellor and the Fuhrer are not responsible. War crimes are allowed. Hitler can have as many Jews killed as he wants. Katehi can have as many people poisoned and brutalized as she wants. Leaders must remain free and must not be held accountable.

    NO.

Leaders MUST be held accountable. The Chancellor must resign or be forced out. The same goes for all who had authority over hiring and supervising the criminals who illegally poisoned non-violent citizens. If not, then gas chambers are OK!

  • Budget cuts mean that the quality of education and the quality of the student's experience are both decreased. How do you justify charging more for a lesser product? This isn't necessarily the chancellors fault though, as she said. Something that was under her control: peacefully coming to an understanding. The "peaceful expression" that the chancellor actually praised her students for exhibiting was met by violence and arrests by her. Hypocrisy like this will only strengthen Occupy Davis and O

  • I'm so glad I don't go to that college. She's so horrible in terms of empathy, I would never want her in any position of authority above me.

  • hot damn... this old bag is so out of touch its not even funny! her and anyone else in a position of power/authority who thinks like this should be forced to step down immediately. No, further explanation needed chancellor #fail

  • plays with her ring a lot -- hard to take her seriously

  • You dirty fucking bitch. Eat some pepper spray.

  • It would be better if she resigns to gain free time to learn how to speak English fluently.

  • @newall21 that's racist.

  • @lemontina9 that' not racist; why its racist? She is university's chancellor for god's sake; is it racist to expect the chancellor of an American university to be able to speak English fluently? The racist thing is pepper spray kids sitting around without harming anyone. That is racist. She MUST resign.

  • Please Resign, you are monopolizing this narative and using poor economic times to excuse the destruction of our university system. You say sorry, but please, Chancellor, notice how you still do not stand up for students and faculty. You say "we need to work together", but it is your administration that is not cooperating. It is the occupy protesters are beginning to HEAL our university community.

  • Looking into her eyes is like looking straight through her. No soul.

  • your position should be the first one to be cut ! so you go first ! bitch !

  • @TheGLUCOSA LOL

  • Why doesn't the Chancellor disclose donations she may give to a scholarship at UC Davis if she cares about the students. Private scholarships may be the only way low income people may be able to go to universities in the future.

  • It's interesting that Chancellors have such a long longevity at UC Davis. It makes you wish that they could be held more accountable by the students instead of by the regents, or whoever is running the show. People should be allowed to get mad, because this fee increase may not be possible for some people to pay. If this trend continues, the rich will be the only people who can afford education, bringing a true end to any egalitarian hopes.

  • 04kerba:

The anger from the so-called "hot heads" stems from the fee increases that directly affect the students. This chancellor would never release a video like this had the "hot headed" students never protested around the state.

The problem in thr budget stems from the mis-management of funds by the Chancelors AND the Regents of the UC system. Bob Meister released a review of where our funds go and it is not something the chancellors want you to know about. I suggest you do some research.

  • I'm glad that Katehi worked with AGTV to make this happen. There are entirely too many hot heads throwing around angry rhetoric about this issue. We clearly need to be addressing the root cause of the problem, which is state funding, rather than getting angry with administrators. I'm sure many people will write this off as administrative sweet-talking, but Katehi's address is quite reasonable, and I hope that this cools some of the anger that is so prevalent in the student community at UCD.
