umm i think he knows that we cant match them atm. Unlike US, australia isnt bought up with track and field - no-one does it in schools and all the talented runners are picked up by rugby league, afl etc. If we could secure the talent and get them trained properly, we could be a force in track and field, but unfortunately i cant see it happening because there is no money in it (barely any AUS track and field athletes are full time athletes).

umm i think he knows that we cant match them atm. Unlike US, australia isnt bought up with track and field - no-one does it in schools and all the talented runners are picked up by rugby league, afl etc. If we could secure the talent and get them trained properly, we could be a force in track and field, but unfortunately i cant see it happening because there is no money in it (barely any AUS track and field athletes are full time athletes).

you obviously dont realise what a miracle it was to come second. population aside, athletics is a very small sport in australia. everyone wags the school carnival growing up, there is no college/university competitions and those talented enough struggle for funding and will normally go for other professional sports such as football. athletics here would be about as big as cricket in US

Not 50 anymore. you've lost the 2003 wc 4*400m relay because of a cheat. You've lost both Sydney 4*4's because of cheats and if justice is done you'll lose the 97 wc 4*4 because of a cheat. All nations would be good if they used lab rats like the USA.

so we lose 4 medals... now we win by 46? and also... is that a joke? you think other nations don't use drugs? look at the last few Tours de France... it's mainly other nations. USA just has the most intense scrutiny, so we actually catch all of ours.

Greece, for example, had 2 major athletes caught using illegal substances already. almost every single european country has had someone get caught in the last year.
look at baseball for example. can you really tell yourself that the drug issue in sports is getting more attention and scrutiny in any other country than the US?

Look at Jeremy, he's skinny as a rail. He's NOT on roids. 400 meter runners would get too bulky if they took roids. You NEED conditioning to compete in 400m. Roids help the 100m and 200m sprinters NOT the 400 meter runners.
