  • If only I had someone to song this to :/

  • Just who were the Vogues? What were their names?

  • @roosevelthighschool The Vogues were formed in 1960 by lead baritone Bill Burkette, baritone Don Miller, first tenor Hugh Geyer, and second tenor Chuck Blasko, who were all high school friends from Turtle Creek, PA.

  • I was a freshman at Bishop Foley High School in Madison Heights, Michigan in the fall of 1965 when this song was on the charts. Great song!

  • Class of 70 Ulysses, Kansas. Yeah yeah yeah Merlin

  • @3321MDZ you are from ulysses kansas? my mother grew up in moscow and my aunt and uncle and cousins grew up in ulysses! small freakin world. they nicknamed it "useless", kansas! hahaha

  • Fantastic, you really nailed it! Song & visuals, nice going! You made it hit home!

    thanks!

  • This song was really big during Operation Harvest Moon for Hotel Company, Second Battalion , Seventh Marine Regiment in December 1965. Shortly after this they cleared the caves at Duc Pho.

  • This is a number with great energy. Love seeing all of those girls with their period hairstyles and young, hopeful smiles. Thanks!

  • Class of '70' 'here. 1:45 - Wow. Looks like a class of '67' senior that I fell in love with as a freshman. Oh if only I had been three or four years older.

  • @Uburosco Well she was definitely class of 67. I took her to prom when I was a junior and she was a sophomore.

  • Good music has no age limit.

  • Love this song. It was written by Petula Clark, who also did a great job on this song.

  • HOW MANY PEOPLE SAY THE SAME THING," REMINDS ME OF A BETTER TIME" ...WELL ADD ME TO THE LIST, WE DIDN'T HAVE THE THINGS THE KIDS OF TODAY HAVE...BUT WE DON'T HAVE THEIR PRESSURES AND PROBLEMS ALOT OF THESE KIDS HAVE TODAY

  • @lawdog490 It wasn't just the kids either. My parents had a smipler life and enjoyed it. We had five kids and lived in a 4 bedroom house. Only my oldest sister had a room of her own. We had one car and no garage. We had one TV. My parents had a stereo console that had a turntable and a radio. They had maybe a dozen LPs. My middle sister had a record player that she won at a raffle. Between all of us kids we maybe had 20 45s and a dozen LPs.

  • GREAT !!

  • My favorite Vogues song--thanks for posting!

  • Reminds me of simpler times. Back when music was music.

  • @roosevelthighschool And girls were girls and boys were boys. Now they are trying to make girls into thugs and boys into girls.

  • @John1948ThirteenA When I read that, I can't help but think of Michael Savage (whether you love him or loath him) saying of the 50s/60s "A time when the chrome was thick, and the women were straight."

  • @John1948ThirteenA -- That's really funny, considering that you're talking about the 60s there, when you couldn't tell the boys from the girls and our whole culture was being undermined by it. The Vogues are more of a 50s musical sensibility (and I love their music -- I bought two or three of their singles and have one of the CD reissues, Rhino's I think), but they released this single in the 60s.

Music's still music, by the way.

  • This is a very intense song. I wish music was still this passionate.

  • I have always liked this song, and I cant think of a better video someone could of made... girls from their past.... very nicely done

  • OMGoodness, my boyfriend just sent this to me....It is one of our favorites from that great time in our lifes. I had forgotten sooo many: thank God he has not. Great posting

  • What a great idea!!! Love it! Class of 1970 here

  • Hi John1948, I assume you were born in 1948. I was born in 1950. I think that all the photos are YOUR photos that you traded for. Linda signed hers after all. Have you seen any these lovely ladies recently? Also, what high school is it?

  • @spook394 It was Millard High School, Millard , Nebraska. Yes I still see some of the girls on rare occasion. I will see Linda and Vicki at my 45 year class reunion in June. Some of the others will be there too. Linda was my date to senior prom. Another was my prom date the year before. The point of using photos of so many girls was to illustrate how it was for guys like me - wanting a long-term relationship but having such a short attention span. You're the one! No, you! or you....

  • @John1948ThirteenA Oops! The Linda that signed the photo is not the same Linda I took to senior prom. That Linda is at 0:25. Pam at 1:45 was my date junior year. Terry at 0:13 was my first crush and the standard all girls after were measured by. Shirley at 1:01 was my biggest regret. I should have tried a lot harder to win her heart. The other girls were all good friends.

  • @John1948ThirteenA Nice work with this video! Terry and Pam blow the others away, and I'll bet Pam in particular still has the good looks she possessed in 1966. Some women have that inner beauty that lasts for ever-the great love of my life is one of these. The goodness inside wins over everything!

  • One of those "I love this song" songs!

  • Hi John1948, your montage is really fun. The women are all attractive. Yes, I still have the pictures I traded back in high school and they look like your lovely ladies from the 60s.

  • @spook394 I had fun making the video. I'm glad you liked it.

  • I'm of the Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, etc. generation, but I've got to tell you: I grew up on this kind of music, and it's my favorite! Thank you so much for sharing! :)

  • Nice work with the photos in time with the music.

  • love this song dam good song

  • FYI...... Did you know "You're the One" is a song introduced on the 1965 album I Know A Place by Petula Clark? Written by Clark with her regular songwriter/ producer Tony Hatch, "You're the One" was a Top 30 UK hit for Clark herself.

  • WOW, A WONDERFUL SONG.

  • Great! I love this song

  • Hey John1948...right on with the photos! No Facebook and "hanging out"...back in the day it was about having a real girlfriend. It seems like a million years ago that we exchanged wallet-size class photos! Every guy still has a few....unless his wife made him throw them all out!

    Paul /Texas

  • @PaulDePace No woman can make a man do anything! - - - She can just make him wish he had. LOL

  • @John1948ThirteenA What is with the high school photos?

  • @PaulDePace

I agree, those were the days!

  • Great Song. I sent it to a girl I was trying to get and she fell after hearing this song. It worked! Thanks for posting!

  • Wow

Always a great song , you have added to it with your pictures . We all have fallen in love with a girl like those pictured . a great tribute to them all . I hope they all find this

  • @43300s Thanks. I thought it also kind of highlighted how fickle young guys were back in the day (or at least how fickle I was). I fell in love every week or two. At least I only fell in love with one at a time. LOL

  • beautiful video and song ! thanks

  • Thanks so much, John1948, for providing this outstanding song and the womens' high school photos to go along. In particular, beautiful Linda reminds me of a good friend of mine from that time.... I'm a '65 HS grad, from SoCal.

  • The Vogues were incredibly good. So many great songs, and this may well the best of them all.

  • Reminds of my first love, my ex wife...brings back some good times, bad times. Now, I'm dying of cancer, and you know what? None of the bad times mean anything anymore. Thank you, John, for posting this.

  • @georgehalo123 Your welcome George. Sorry to hear about your health. I hope the music helps.

  • @georgehalo123 God Bless George..I hope you are not in any pain...

  • @georgehalo123 I hope that you are feeling better. Good luck and hang in there.

    Jeff

  • @georgehalo123 That is a very heartbreaking thing that you wrote . May God be with you and cure you. We will all be there soon enough. Its incredible but so few people come right out and talk about it.. I think its helps people and I admire your courage.

  • Una obra maestra indiscutible.

  • what a fantastic song. thank you john, from a fellow john.

i'm glad my dad brought me up to appreciate oldies music. (i'm 17)

  • @MeLeneIoannis Glad you like it John. There is a lot more here that you may like. Enjoy!

  • This song was co-written and originally recorded by Petula Clark. Her original version is Before They Were Hits. vol. 2

  • Hey, John1948ThirteenA this is a NICE montage vid to this song. Audio is slightly overdriven but it's hard to complain when the talent's this good.

  • kick ass harmonies, wish talents like this were around still today.

  • petula clark wrote this song with tony hatch !!!

  • Wow..what memories on this great classic..Thank you for keeping our memories alive and forever with us..you are certainly one of the best doing so..much appreciation for these moments..

  • Thanks Sherrylynn. This one is special to me.

  • The girls pictured in this video are from Millard (NE) High School, class of 1966. Well one was class of 67. There were only 60 kids in our class and there are some pretty girls that I didn't have room for in the video. The class of 1966 was blessed.

  • Great song!! This was my parent's song when they were dating back in 1966. Thanks for posting this classic!! (:

  • Your parents have good taste.

  • Thanks!! (:
