I divide the denominator by the numerator. So if 5 goes into 9 one time, I put the 1 as the outside of the fraction (the whole number) then what ever is the remainder from 9 minus 5 which is 4, goes on the top of the fraction. Keep the denominator the same. Both ways work great, Thanks my teacher.com :)
