This kid doesn't have a clue about harassment (they call me names). I was born with a clef palate and picked on 10 time worse then this kid in school. This father compares himself to King and Parks, it is not about the child, but about this parent in this case.

The kids who grow up there are very homophobic, which show exactly what kind of close-minded values their parents are teaching them.
That's not what I experienced growing up there. I am aware that there are towns worse or better than Davis when it comes to accepting gay people, but there have been plenty of gay kids who had to remain in the closet do to the homophobia at the high school. I went to Harper 2 years ago and actually met this kid who was being harassed. At the time I didn't know anything about him. He came off as an ass and not a very respectful person. Perhaps his attitude was the catalyst that made his being bullied so extreme.

I grew up in Davis. The community claims to be gay friendly, but that's just for the sake of the town's image. Davisites like to call it "The People's Republic of Davis". That's not what I experienced growing up there. I am aware that there are towns worse or better than Davis when it comes to accepting gay people, but there have been plenty of gay kids who had to remain in the closet do to the homophobia at the high school. A few years before I graduated there, an anonymous article was published in the school newspaper by a gay student who was terrified of letting any of his friends or classmates know he was gay.

any of you guys actually go to harper?? i do okay and they have like assembleys everyday for this stuff... its so boring... the other day there was like an hour assembly.. and this news is all false if you want 100k its not going to help zach at all like hot thescore said. personally i think Harper is taking this a little bit too seriously.
