That's why these tax machine fire districts buy new every 5 years. They run the shit outta the equipment then complain they are junk from the abuse. This is nothing so important you have to drive like that and floor the siren on the pad. In training...they always frown on running. So why not frown on driving like this?
I know, especially with the 03-06 EGR engines, look for the black smoke! If its a cat look for blue/gray smoke, and if its a cummins blue/gray smoke too, not as ferocious as the CAT's though.
hey as long as it gets to the call whatever engine it has should not matter. The old detroit diesel engines were very smokey and the sound of them would get my blood going
Yep. To me nothing and I mean NOTHING beats the scream of the Detroit 6V-53. Rated at 215 HP (195 HP post 1972) and with 770 ft. lbs. peak torque at 1800 RPM this was a mighty mite of an engine; perfect for the typical-sized pump or single-rear axled ladder. Fire apparatus with 6V-53's were EVERYWHERE during the 1970's and '80's. The 6V-53's only downfall was if you wanted a pump capacity of 1250 GPM or more, it was too small; it would scream enough at 1000 GPM. That's when the 6-71 comes in.
If a house burns down, it was gods will to have it that way. If we save it, again its gods will to save it. That engines got some serious horsepower though! Its either that or its got no equipment haha just kidding. Awesome video, love the POWERCALL!!Stay safe brothers!
Sweet Q!

The Series 60 has excellent response. I feel sorry for the departments that order the wimpy ISM's, or the crappy sounding C13s or Cummins.
studpuppy69 2 years ago
you still you get a trail of exhaust smoke when you hit the gas with the detriot series 60 engine
